A FORMER security guard has revealed how he landed a part on one of the biggest shows on telly.
In a twist of fate Tayme Thapthimthong, 35, is currently appearing as charming security man Gaitok in The White Lotus.

Tayme was doing the job for real when he got the call up, explaining: “I was actually a bodyguard, working when I got cast for this, so it was a huge change.”
Appearing alongside his very famous co-stars Aimee Lou Wood, Walton Goggins and Lalisa Manobal in an interview with The Today Show, he continued: “I left the army and was doing some contracting work.
“I did pursue and acting career in my early twenties but it didn’t really take off.”
Recalling the moment he found out about the casting, he said: “My client who I was looking after at the time.
“He is a Thai rapper who was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York so he’s American and he was like ‘wait, what is this?’, I was like ‘oh, it’s the White Lotus?’. He’s like ‘are you serious, you’ve got to go and cast for that’.”
Tayme admitted he didn’t quite realise how big a role it was until he saw how excited Aimee Lou Wood and Walton Goggins were to be in it.
He admitted: “I didn’t actually know about the show at all when they approached me.”
In The White Lotus he appears as the hotel’s security guard who is in love with another worker there – Mook, played by Lalisa.
Tayme was born and raised in London and from the age of 18, he worked as a bouncer.
He previously told Lifestyle Asia: When I was 18, I got my first gig as a bouncer, and I loved it because I got a real buzz out of protecting people.
“Initially, I worked as a bartender in a Thai restaurant/club called Thai Square. However, one day, a drunk man was acting up, so one of the staff told me to get security.
“I saw it as an opportunity to prove I could do this job, so I decided to handle it myself. They gave me the job after that, and as crazy as it sounds, I’ve never started a fight in my life. I only intervene and try to stop it.”
He then trained for the Royal Marines, but failed the medical test and then made his move to Thailand.
There he served in the Thai Army, before going into private security and landing his dream role shortly after.
