I tried Aldi’s new perfume dupes – they’re £224 cheaper than Le Labo one stank of smoke but another smells like spring

IT’S no secret that perfumes can cost a small fortune.

But now Aldi has launched dupes of the luxury perfumers at Le Labo and we went to see if they’re really worth running to grab.

Fabulous writer, Leanne Hall, put the new dupes to the test[/caption]

Le Labo is a luxury brand created in New York back in 2006 and is well known for its more earthy, unisex scents.

They also boast a lingering scent on the skin while still being clean and fresh.

Plenty of celebrities are fans of the scents including Jodie Comer who is a fan of their most popular scent Santal 33.

It’s no surprise celebrities love it, with a £234 price tag for 100ml, the smelly stuff doesn’t come cheap.

Thankfully, Aldi has released their own collection just in time for spring for as little as £9.99 for 100ml.

As a self-confessed perfume obsessive, I have an entire cupboard filled with the stuff.

However, I mainly opt for gourmand scents (think walking past a bakery freshly baking cupcakes) and rarely opt for ‘cleaner’ perfumes.

But with the spring weather upon us, I decided now was the perfect time to get into them and what better way than with a bargain from Aldi?

So if you want a new scent for the year, listen up as I put them to the test.

Sandalwood Eau de Parfum

First up, we have the sandalwood perfume which smells like a sexy man has just walked through the corridor before you.

The freshness of the sandalwood is cut with musk and a slight touch of oud for a woody finish, while the warming scent of amber brings it all together.

It lasts well on the skin and while it does lean towards the masculine side, it is the perfect scent to wear on a Friday night for a cocktail in town.

Addition Eau de Parfum

The addition of delicate florals and pear instantly makes you think of walking through a field during springtime.

Notes of rose and jasmine make this perfume feel more feminine, which is perfect if you’re not into unisex scents.

While it does have a more floral top note, amber and musk keep it smelling fresh rather than the type of perfume your grandma might wear.

This is a much softer scent than Sandalwood and would be ideal to wear to work or for day to day.

Black Intense Eau de Parfum

As the name suggests, this was the most intensely smelling one of them all.

The first note that hit me in the face was a waft of tobacco as the notes suggest – although I can’t say I was pleased to have it so prominent.

Once the perfume has been given a few minutes to settle, notes of citrusy bergamot cuts through to help combat the overpowering smokey scent.

While it certainly wasn’t my favourite, this could work for someone who likes a scent that stands out from the crowd.
