Katja‘s mum Carinie has been involved in a variety of her cover shoots for magazines and even features in her new campaign with creative brand How Rad.

Speaking on her evolving relationship with her mum, Katja told Evoke: “I get older, I see my mum more as a fellow woman and a friend instead of just my mum.

I relate to her on a human level, on a female level, more than just that mum and daughter relationship.

“I think it’s a really beautiful thing because that only really develops, so I’m really enjoying this phase of our relationship.”

The Dublin beauty also admitted that she has her mum to thank for her trendy sense of style, adding: “I definitely got my style tips from mum. From a very young age, I was taking notes off Carinie. She’s definitely someone I look up to.”

Katja is one of four children and has said that herself and her siblings always looked to Carinie for advice growing up.

The 32-year-old explained: “I come from a female-dominated household. There’s my mum and I’ve got two sisters, we’re loud and proud.

“My dad and brother, they’re always overruled by us, don’t get me wrong. We kill each other too, like any other family, but we are so close, and it’s great to have them, to have sisters.”

And Katja’s family are all getting excited for her to tie the knot after she got engaged to her long-term love Daragh Curran back in August 2024.

The happy couple, who have been together for over seven years, have set a date for their big day.

Katja told The Irish Sun: “We do have a date, we are planning to get married in 2026.”

But the popular presenter and her fiance will be jetting over to Burundi before saying their ‘I do’s’.

Katja explained: “I’m having a traditional engagement. We’re going to Burundi, which is where my parents are from.

“I’m going there for three weeks. And it’s such a big deal over there to have a traditional engagement where Daragh has to pay a dowry. There are speeches and there’s Burundian dancers and drummers.

“He has never been to that part of Africa before. It’s in the east part of Africa. He’s so excited.”
