Gilmore Girls alum Lauren Graham recalls meeting Harry Potter actor Kenneth Branagh
Actress Lauren Graham recently appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live to promote her role as Monica Frazier in The Z-Suite, in which she not only stars but also serves as the producer. The host asked her if she had ever approached any celebrity the way fans approached her, to which she said that the only actor she could think of was Kenneth Branagh.

Graham explained that she was in theater school at the time, and everyone with her really looked up to him. The actress noted that he had written and directed a version of Henry VI and had a book coming out, which they all wanted to get. She went on to share further;
Even though he was only like 30 or something called beginning, and we all got in line to get our books signed and like left school and went to wherever he was, and I had never, I don’t think, met anybody in person who I also had seen on-screen I didn’t and so I had no plan, but I got to the thing with my book and said I love you.
In reply to her confession, Lauren Graham recalled that Branagh only replied by saying ‘Okay.’ She added that it felt like he thought that’s how maybe the Roadies do it. She was asked if she had the book with Branagh’s signature, to which she confessed that she didn’t.
The actress, in her interview with Collider, spoke about her role in The Z-Suite sharing that she was surprised when she got to know that the makers thought of her as the lead. Graham added,
I’m so delighted when anybody envisions me as the boss of anything. I just really liked the world and I loved the idea of being at the start of something. When I met Katie O’Brien, the writer, and the showrunner, I just thought, ‘Here’s a really smart, creative person who I would enjoy spending days with’.
The Gilmore Girls alum added that one of the main reasons for her saying yes to a character is knowing that is her day going to be collaborative and enjoyable.
Lauren Graham reveals if she gets paid from Gilmore Girls’ Netflix popularity
In her conversation with Jimmy Kimmel, Lauren Graham was asked if she has gotten sick of talking about her fan-favorite character Lorelai Gilmore, to which she said that she is not yet sick of talking about it. The show is one of the most beloved shows of all time and is reaching its 25th anniversary of being on air.

Gilmore Girls found its popularity back after it started streaming on Netflix and the host asked her how many residuals she gets from the show now. The actress said,
There really are no residuals on Netflix. Sorry! But I’ve been paid in love. We have definitely reached more people than we were reaching on The WB. Now it’s trickled into younger people, older people, and men whose kids and wives probably forced them to watch it.
Lauren Graham starred alongside Alexis Bledel on the show, and her character has received critical acclaim for its witty dialogues. During a panel at the Netflix FYSee back in 2017, (via THR) Graham added that she would never get tired of talking about the show, noting that she’ll be doing panels until she is 95 years old. She shared with THR on the red carpet.
Netflix was like, ‘We knew people liked it, but gosh, we had no idea!’ We came back mainly because of the women who loved it, and I just think that’s still something people are surprised about.
The actress mentioned that according to her, Gilmore Girls has given the audience a perfect escape from reality by providing them with a cozy place to go. It’s a happy place to go for the audience.
Gilmore Girls is available to stream on Netflix. The Z-Suite is available on Tubi.
