‘I definitely do’ – Rangers star Vaclav Cerny says he wants to stay at Ibrox next season and discusses American takeover

RANGERS star Vaclav Cerny’s ‘water-gate’ row with Celtic fans HASN’T soured his stay in Scotland, he says.

Infact the Czechia winger would “definitely” relish a longer stint in the SPFL.

The winger could be hauled before Hampden beaks and is subject to a police probe after Old Firm goal excitement spilled over.

The incident was spotted by Sky Sports cameras spraying water in celebration as he sprinted down the touchline to join his team-mates at the away end – splashing fans sitting on the front rows in the process.

Celtic say they have contacted “relevant authorities” over Gers stars engaging with supporters but despite branding the entire episode ABSURD – Cerny wants to make a return to Celtic Park again next summer.

He insists he’d love to be a part of the new dawn at Ibrox as talks advance on the takeover deal with a consortium including NFL owners 49ers Enterprises and health insurance tycoon Andrew Cavenagh.

Asked about staying longer than his season-long loan from Wolfsburg, Cerny said: “I definitely do.

“But there are so many aspects that I can’t control. All I can do is be the best I can and keep up my form and numbers.”

The 27-year-old has hit 17 goals this term – three more than rising star Hamza Igamane and five below top Gers scorer Cyriel Dessers.

And while he’d like to stay longer he knows the decision is out of his hands – and may even be out of Rangers‘ hands too.

Wolfburg were linked with selling Cerny in January but the winger has heard little from his parent club – or on his prospects of a longer stay in Glasgow.

Infact he joked they might not even have noticed his impressive numbers.

He added: “There’s zero contact. Who knows if they have Scottish channels.

Rangers will be going through some changes in the summer, there’s talk of new owners buying a large percentage of the shares.

“But nothing is confirmed, it’s just being talked about and written about in the media.

“It wouldn’t be right to discuss something with someone who doesn’t know what will happen in two months. It’s too early for that.”

But as he gears up for a crack at the Faroe Islands and Gibraltar over the next week, Cerny is simply focused on adding to his season’s stats, and not much more.

He told Sport: “I honestly say no. There’s no time for that, we play every three days.

“I don’t have an option [to buy in his loan deal], that’s the only official one. I don’t know what will happen.”
