Arrowhead Game Studios heard our cries to make Helldivers 2 harder. As a result, we’ve gotten the new Predator strain of terminids. But we may have stoked the fires too much because they’re quite deadly. The new enemies are faster, stronger, and far more intelligent than the bugs we’ve already faced.

A lot of Helldivers who were previously asking for harder enemies are now regretting it. Facing this new strain requires a lot of planning, and a change in strategy and loadout. If you need a little help from a fellow Helldiver, let’s look at how you can take down the new Predator strain in Helldivers 2.
Best way to combat Predator Terminids in Helldivers 2

You can’t just go in guns blazing when facing the Predator Strain. The standard anti-Terminid strategies you’ve learned up to this point won’t cut it for this new strain of bugs. You can try our previous bug diver guide for a general idea, but the strategy is a bit different now with this new hyper aggressive strain.
The predator strain adds a new way to make the game more difficult aside from just jumping a difficulty. If you struggle on a planet where the predator strain is present, simply move to one without it. This obviously doesn’t take MO’s into account, but is good design nonetheless.

So let’s first get into the weapons. Shotguns are your best friend once again, especially ones such as the SG-8 Punisher and SG-451 Cookout. You’ll want to stagger the new Predator bugs as much as you can to give yourself the best chance to dodge or escape when needed.
If you want to be the ultimate wall of defense versus these new bugs, you can also consider going for a Sentry setup. The Autocannon Sentry combined with the Mortar or Rocket Sentry can do some work here for the bigger bugs. If you want a more rapid fire approach, use the Gatling Sentry. For other options, check out our ranking of the Sentry stratagems.
Unlike the Terminids enemies we’ve already seen, the new Predator Stalkers and Hunters behave more like calculated ambush predators. They use the Gloom’s low visibility to their advantage, waiting for the perfect moment to pounce and attack Helldiver squads.
The Predator Strain might be the beginning of a much larger problem in Helldivers 2. With each new Major Order, Helldivers are being sent deeper into Gloom-infested territory, and the risks continue to rise. We asked for Arrowhead to make the game harder, and we’ve gotten it
Going forward, we may be getting new challenges that will force us to work together in ways we haven’t before. Helldivers 2 may be heading into a new direction with these new enemy variations and we’re here for it. So are you ready now?
