How to Create and Join a Faction in Marvel Rivals

Marvel Rivals has quickly become one of the hottest team-based shooters on the market, and NetEase’s faction system adds another layer of competition beyond the standard matches. Think of it as your personal superhero team—except instead of saving the world, you’re climbing leaderboards.

Factions aren’t just for show either. They’re your ticket to participating in in-game tournaments like the Marvel Rivals Championship, where the real glory (and prizes) await. And with up to 12 players per faction, you can assemble a squad that would make Nick Fury jealous.

Want to be the one calling the shots? Creating your own faction in Marvel Rivals gives you control over who joins and how your team competes.

The process is straightforward, but the decisions you make during setup will shape your team’s identity and competitive future:

  • From the main menu, click on the Tournament tab.
  • Click Faction > Create Faction.
  • Enter a unique name for your faction.
  • Choose your faction’s abbreviation (appears in brackets during matches).
  • Set your Primary Language for communication.
  • Determine Rank Required for Application (filters out lower-ranked players).
  • Choose Admission Rules (open to all or application required).
  • Select your Tournament Region for competitive play.
  • Pick your Platform Preference (PC or Console).
  • Finally, select your faction’s Emblem and click on Create Faction.

The hardest part isn’t the setup—it’s, of course, coming up with a name that’s both intimidating and hasn’t already been claimed by someone else. Good luck finding something better than “Hulk Smashers” or “We Are Goot” at this point.

Not interested in leadership responsibilities? Joining an existing faction is a great alternative that still gives you access to all the competitive benefits that NetEase has to offer—without the management headaches.

To join public factions:

  • Navigate to the Tournament tab from the main menu.
  • Click on Faction > View Factions.
  • Browse available factions with open spots.
  • Click Apply to Join (or join directly if the faction is set to “open”).
  • Wait for a leader to accept your application.

To join a friend’s faction:

  • Click the Friends icon beside your profile nameplate.
  • Hover over your friend’s name.
  • Right-click (PC) or press the menu button (console).
  • Select Apply to Join Faction.
  • Ask your friend to accept your application.

Remember that some factions have rank and stats requirements, so don’t take it personally if your application gets rejected. Sometimes it’s not you—it’s your embarrassingly low Damage Blocked numbers on Doctor Strange.
