A TEENAGER girl has dies after being struck by a car in Co Down.
The 16-year-old, named as Jaidyn Rice from the local area, dies after she was hit by the car on the West Circular Road in Bangor late last night.
PSNI officers and other members of the emergency services rushed to the scene of the collision at around 10:55pm last night.
However, Jaidyn was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
The West Circular Road was closed for a time but has since been reopened.
The PSNI has launched an investigation into the circumstances of the crash and has urged any witnesses to come forward.
Roads Inspector Cherith Adair from the Police Service of Northern Ireland’s Collision Investigation Unit said: “Police received a report at approximately 10.55pm of a collision involving a car and a pedestrian on the West Circular Road.
“Officers attended, alongside our colleagues from partner emergency services. Sadly, the pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the scene.
“She was 16-year-old Jaidyn Rice from the Bangor area.
“Officers are continuing to investigate the circumstances of the collision, and would like to hear from witnesses or anyone who may have captured dash-cam or other footage which could assist with our enquiries.

It comes after a man, aged in his 20s, lost his life in a horror motorbike crash in Co Laois yesterday.
The motorcyclist was sadly pronounced dead at the scene of the collision on the N77 in Abbeyleix yesterday.
Gardai and emergency services rushed to the scene at the junction of the Portlaoise Road and Ballyroan Road at around 7:50pm.
