Girl, four, killed in house fire which left second child, two, & woman in 20s injured

A FOUR-year-old girl has tragically died after a horror house fire as a woman in her 20s, and two-year-old remain in hospital.

Emergency services responded to calls from the scene on Kingsley Road, in Lynemouth, Northumberland at around 9.30pm on Monday.

Despite the desperate efforts of fire crews, the young girl was found inside the property and pronounced dead at the scene.

A woman in her 20s and a two-year-old girl were also taken to hospital, where they remain in a stable condition.

The four-year-old victim has not yet been named.

A police cordon remains in place as officers continue their investigation.

Detective Chief Inspector Louise Jenkins said: “This is an absolutely devastating incident in which a young girl has tragically lost her life.

“All of our thoughts and condolences are with her family and friends at this incredibly difficult time.

“Enquiries remain at a very early stage, and with the support of our partners from Northumberland Fire and Rescue Service we are determined to establish exactly what happened.

“We are asking anyone with information – no matter how small or insignificant it may seem – to come forward and share what they know.”
