FORMER hurling star DJ Carey has admitted that he falsely claimed he had cancer and defrauded people into paying him for treatment.
The former Kilkenny player, 54, plead guilty to 10 charges of deception when he appeared in Dublin Circuit Criminal Court this morning.
He had been due to stand trial but entered the plea when he was formally arraigned before the court this morning.
Judge Patricia Ryan remanded him on continuing bail for a sentence hearing to take place on October 29.
