First look at spectacular new hotel and restaurant linked with legendary chef

FOODIES can feast their eyes on the first look at a new restaurant overseen by legendary Michelin-starred chef Michel Roux Jr.

The former Le Gavroche boss, 64, has helped design the menus for art deco speakeasy and bistro Trocadero’s at the five-star Crossbasket Castle hotel near Glasgow.

Bosses want diners to be transported back in time with the decor inspired by underground jazz clubs from the roaring 20s.

Musicians will play every night — with the official launch tomorrow.

The refit comes after a massive upgrade at the castle and is sure to delight those looking to stay or visit to eat.

Hotel owner Alison Timoney said: “Our new hotel and restaurant have been meticulously designed to create a place of pure escapism.

“When guests walk through the door, we want them to leave their world behind and journey back in time to a place where indulgence, glamour and sophistication were truly celebrated.

“Every detail has been carefully considered, from the handcrafted furniture to the materials and fabric used throughout, to create a timeless escape which is both distinctive from the original castle, yet complements its historic charm.

“The full concept of Trocadero’s, from the playful pours behind the bar and the indulgent delights from the kitchen, to the energy of the double bass that fills the room with live entertainment, our restaurant has been designed to create a space where champagne flows and anything goes.

“We had a very clear vision to create something entirely unique for the luxury market in Scotland.

“The final venue is truly extraordinary.”


Alison and husband Steve spent years planning the overhaul at the historic castle.

A sneak peak reveals sophisticated interiors centered around green, orange and brown earth tones, brass and  dark timber panelling.

The menu will feature locally-sourced seasonal ingredients, including oysters, crab, lobster and steak.

The new development also includes plans for a  spa and two lodges which are due to open later in the year.

Chef Michel ran famous Le Gavroche in London‘s Mayfair for more than 30 years after taking over from his dad Albert and uncle Michel until it closed last year.

It was the first British restaurant to earn three coveted Michelin stars.

Michel has carved out a side line on television and appeared as one of the original judges on MasterChef: The Professionals and has starred in his friend Gordon Ramsay‘s ITV show Hell’s Kitchen and presented the BBC‘s Saturday Kitchen.
