Dragon Ball DAIMA was a bold experiment that aimed to blend nostalgia with new ideas. It had the charm of classic Dragon Ball, one that was suppressed long ago to meet the expectations of the mainstream media.

It had a sense of thrill and adventure, and the sheer amount of humorous moments and fun events makes it a compelling watch. Although Goku and the Z fighters were turned into kids, the series took care to carefully integrate the story into the franchise.
Dragon Ball DAIMA was an excellent addition to the franchise
This was essential in order to make it canon. But on the way, a few mishapss occurred, which led to the series standing out like a sore thumb and causing a lot of confusion among the fans as to how DAIMA could fit in with the chronology of the events, especially when it was positioned after the Buu saga.

The franchise was a much-needed return to adventure-focused storytelling, and it shook away the antiquated essence of Dragon Ball. But there are some things to keep in mind. No second part of DAIMA has been announced or is even rumored to be in the works.
Why are half of yall getting pissed that people DONT want plotholes?

This means that after the events in DAIMA, everything proceeds as it has in the main Dragon Ball timeline. But there are a lot of issues. Why did Vegeta never show his SSJ3 transformation? There may be many reasons, like the excessive power consumption, and this could be justified if it was the only instance.
What about the mythical SSJ4? The GT’s original form was shown in the Dragon Ball DAIMA finale against Gomah, both in Goku’s child and adult forms. This meant that Goku knew how to approach his Saiyan evolution.
The Super Saiyan 4 plot hole ruined DAIMA’s connection to Super
But nowhere is there any talk about the SSJ4 form. Neither Goku nor Gohan and Vegeta try to reach that level, instead we have the Ultra Instinct and Ultra Ego transformations.

No doubt the reveal of SSJ4 was a pleasant surprise for many veteran fans who have watched GT and wanted SSJ4 to be canon for a long time. But the consequences of dropping such a huge bomb are disastrous for the web that connects the franchise.
Dragon Ball Super is still ongoing and there is a need to connect Dragon Ball DAIMA through mentions and explanations regarding why the advanced forms of Super Sayans of Gokua and Vegeta were never seen in the series. This could be done by saying it was a Demon Realm related thing or that Neva used his special abilities to help break a special wall between SSJ3 and SSJ4.
But because of this one crucial mistake, Dragon Ball DAIMA remains a flawed attempt at adding an installment. But DAIMA itself fixed many plotholes decades after Dragon Ball Z and GT, so there is hope that Super can mend the cracks too.
Dragon Ball Super and DAIMA are available to stream on Crunchyroll.
