Merely a few months ago, Ryan Reynolds stood as one of the most beloved actors in the film industry. Reaching the heights of fame in Hollywood and pop culture, he had success, fans, and Deadpool. However, things very quickly changed for him as soon as It Ends With Us began its press tour.

Now, months have passed, and Reynolds finds himself in a very serious legal battle with his wife, Blake Lively, against Justin Baldoni. Unfortunately for the actor, he has not just been a spectator in this dispute, having found himself in Baldoni’s lawsuit, all because of allegations about the very film that made him a household name.
With Baldoni accusing Reynolds of mocking him in Deadpool & Wolverine, one would expect the latter to deny the claims. However, he may have indirectly confirmed them.
Ryan Reynolds has potentially made a big mistake
Recently, Ryan Reynolds asked the courts to dismiss the claims that Justin Baldoni has made about him in his lawsuit. Among so many claims and pieces of evidence provided by the Jane the Virgin star, he also brought Reynolds into his lawsuit with Blake Lively for a very specific reason.

Baldoni claimed that Reynolds crafted the character of ‘Nicepool’ in Deadpool & Wolverine with the sole purpose of mocking him. The character acts as a caricature of toxic male feminists, being ‘woke’ and constantly contradicting his beliefs. Additionally, he is also given a brutally comical death towards the end of the film.
This was never confirmed by Reynolds, who was heavily responsible for the writing of the film. At the same time, Lively’s lawsuit did paint Baldoni in a similar light to the fictional character. Responding to Baldoni’s legal move, Reynolds and his legal teams asked the courts to dismiss his claim, chalking it up to something quite interesting. The actor’s team outright stated that Baldoni cannot sue him over “hurt feelings.”

While they could have denied the claim altogether, they instead acted as though it was accurate. With this in mind, Reynolds’ public image could get a lot worse.
Fans are turning on Ryan Reynolds
Ryan Reynolds’ image has been taking a lot of hits since his wife got involved in such a high-profile feud. Many sources have come forward claiming to know things about the situation, and most of them do not work in his favor. With this, the actor’s reaction to being sued by Justin Baldoni is going very well with fans.

Many pointed out that Reynolds is seriously downplaying the severity of what he has been accused of doing. Mocking someone in such a way on one of the biggest films of 2024 would naturally not work out well. Additionally, fans also pointed out the irony of this situation.
Some argued that the same could be said about Lively’s lawsuit since a lot of it is based on her being upset with Baldoni’s actions. Some even added that Reynolds’ alleged behavior and reaction to them could also open Disney and Marvel to lawsuits since the films were released under their banners.
Ryan REYNOLDS really showing his true self here. So rich of Gottlieb to write this up for REYNOLDS saying BALDONI is “thin skinned” when his other client DRAKE literally started a whole lawsuit over LOSING a RAP BATTLE. https://t.co/zB8ZlH6AFX pic.twitter.com/gFAc7Mc2gn

I think it’s insane that Ryan Reynolds has basically admitted to calling Justin baldoni a “sexual predator” in trying to get him fired from WME and that Nicepool was a caricature of him .. no denial whatsoever. ????? pic.twitter.com/Qs7pwewgjO

One thing that really gets under my skin is this idea that Blake & others suffered all the so called “sexual harrassment” on the set and Ryan’s reaction is to poke fun, satirize and joke about it 🫠and that’s ok in their rulebook.
Make it make sense !— Heidi (@Heidilikehorror) March 18, 2025

With how complicated the situation is getting, Reynolds’ underwhelming and borderline comical response seems to seriously disappoint his former fans.
