Did J.K. Rowling Just Insult Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint With the Cheekiest Dig?

Oh boy, the Wizarding World is ablaze once again—and no, it has nothing to do with Voldemort. This time it’s J.K. Rowling, the queen of quills and controversy, who just dropped a subtle shade that got fans gasping and grabbing their wands. It all started after a fan asked the author which actor ruins a movie for her.

Guess who she named? J.K. Rowling cheekily replied, “three guesses”. And just like that Potterheads immediately pointed their wands at Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint. You know, the golden trio who dared to cast Expelliarmus on Rowling’s views instead of their morals. So now, her response is giving major They-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named energy.

Pottermore might place J.K. Rowling in Gryffindor, but The Sorting Hat will definitely place her straight into House Petty, after her recent tweet. Apparently, after a fan asked her on X which actor/actress ruins a movie for her, Rowling summoned some next-level sarcasm and replied, “Three guesses. Sorry, but that was irresistible.”

Now, Potterheads don’t need Hermione’s time-turner to figure out who she might be talking about. Because the guesses landed faster than a rogue bludger on Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint. You know, the Golden Trio who pretty much rose to stardom from Rowling’s books.

Fans believe that J.K. Rowling might be holding a grudge—bigger than Hagrid’s love for slightly dangerous pets—against the three actors. And so, the author’s quip seemed like a not-so-subtle jab at the stars who played Harry, Hermione, and Ron in the adaptation of her Harry Potter novels.

The author’s grudge against Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint

It seems like ever since Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint publicly opposed J.K. Rowling’s comments on transgender issues, the trio has been on the receiving end of her metaphorical Avada Kedavra tweets. And on a recent note, the author’s X post further hinted at her grudge against the Golden Trio.

After Daniel Radcliffe wrote heartfelt essays, Emma Watson gave empowering speeches, and Rupert Grint expressed his sincere support for the trans community, J.K. Rowling has been naturally feeling bitter about it. And since then, it seems like the author has been throwing shade, while the stars remain unfazed.

Daniel Radcliffe is still charming audiences, Emma Watson is championing activism, and Rupert Grint is probably driving the ice cream truck he bought with his Harry Potter fortune (via Essex Live). So, whether J.K. Rowling’s comment was a genuine dig or just a mischievous remark, one thing’s for sure—the Wizarding World is never devoid of drama.

And if you listen real closely, you’ll probably hear Professor McGonagall in the background, sighing, “Why is it always you three?”
