IRISH singer Michael English has cancelled his upcoming gigs following the tragic death of his beloved nephew.
The country star’s godson Dara Kissane, aged just 19, suddenly passed away on Tuesday, March 18, at Naas General Hospital surrounded by his family.
Michael and his family have been left devastated by the tragic death.
The Kildare native took to Instagram yesterday to share the heartbreaking news with his followers saying: “I’m very sorry to tell you all that my beloved nephew and godson Dara has died at the tender age of 19 after [being] sick for just a few days.
“Dara was our pride and joy and we loved him dearly.”
Michael was due to perform in Firgrove Hotel in Mitchelstown, Cork, this Friday, which he has now cancelled.
The 45-year-old has also postponed his Moyvane Parish Church Kerry gig, which was meant to go ahead on Sunday, March 23.
Michael explained: “I hope everyone will understand that I simply cannot fulfil my shows for the rest of the week.
“We are devastated beyond words but the kindness of neighbours and friends are helping us to get through these very difficult days.
“Please say a prayer for Dara’s Mam and Dad, John and Olivia, and for his sister Kayla. May Dara rest in the eternal peace he so richly deserves.”
Dara will be laid to rest on Saturday, March 22, at 11am in the Church of the Assumption, Castledermot.
He will then be buried in Moone Cemetery, beside his grandmother Colette English.
Mourners attending have been urged to “wear purple” to the ceremony as it was his “favourite colour”.
An outpour of support, love and condolences have been sent to the family.

“May dear Dara’s gentle soul rest in Eternal Peace forever. Heaven has welcomed a beautiful Angel – Dara.”
A third added: “I’m so sorry for your loss! May he rest with the angels and may you somehow get the comfort from the good memories.
“Sending lots of love, hugs, prayers and condolences to you and all his loved ones.”
