‘Delays will occur’ alert following multi-vehicle collision outside Irish city before Dublin Port Tunnel closes TODAY


ROAD users are facing delays this morning due to congestion on a busy Irish motorway while a “delays will occur” alert following a collision in a major city.

And it comes as Dublin Port Tunnel is set to close fully tonight.

Motorists on Dublin’s M50 are experiencing congestion at many points of the busy motorway.

There is congestion both northbound and southbound building for drivers this morning.

Queues formed for commuters this morning southbound between Junction 5 and Junction 7.

Southbound congestion is still sitting between J13 Dundrum and J15 Carrickmines and also between J11 Tallaght and J13 Dundrum.

That congestion also continues in pockets right up to J3 M1/M50 and J5 M50/N2.

And northbound there’s traffic sitting between J11 Tallaght and J10 Ballymount.

Traffic bosses have warned that delays may occur.

Transport infrastructure Ireland said: “Some delays to your journey may occur.

“When approaching the congestion location, reduce your speed and drive with caution.”


And Dublin Tunnel bosses have confirmed a full closure of the tunnel from 9.30pm this evening.

The tunnel will remain closed until 4.30am on Thursday morning.

Posting on social media to alert road users Dublin Tunnel said: “The Dublin Tunnel will be closed tonight.

“Full Tunnel Closure – 21:30 to 04:30.”Full Tunnel Closure – 21:30 to 04:30.

“All northbound HGV & Bus traffic please route via Alfie Byrne Road.”

ROAD TRAFFIC COLLISION

And just outside Limerick city a collision is causing delays for motorists.

The collision occurred just after 9.30am between J1 M7/N18/M20 and J2 Dock Rd.

The multi-vehicle collision is affecting Lane 2 on the busy stretch of road.

Transport Infrastructure Ireland warned: “Delays to your journey will occur. Consider a different journey route or start time.

“When approaching the collision location, drive with caution, reduce your speed and obey instructions from emergency services.”

PUBLIC TRANSPORT DELAYS

There were a number of delays for public transport users this morning too.

The 6.50am Connolly to Belfast service departed Connolly station around 15 minutes behind schedule, while the 5.50am Gorey to Connolly service was 12 minutes late due to a technical issue.

And rail bosses confirmed the 7.07am M3 Parkway to Docklands service cancellation this morning.

Posting on X Irish Rail said: “The 07:07 M3 Parkway to Docklands service has been cancelled due to a mechanical issue.”
