‘Dandadan’ Season 2 Is Rubbing Salt on a Wound for ‘One Punch Man’ Season 3 Because of an Unfortunate Reality

The anime industry is no stranger to long production cycles, but when those delays fall on super hyped-up sequels, it really gets fans riled up. That’s precisely what’s going on with One Punch Man Season 3. After over six years of waiting, this fantastic action-comedy show is finally returning, but the hype over its first trailer has been rather hit or miss.

And, to make matters worse, Dandadan Season 2 recently received a July 2025 release date, which just makes it all the more difficult for One Punch Man fans who have had to endure a bumpy production ride for their favorite show.

The rocky road of One Punch Man

When One Punch Man was first released in 2015 under Madhouse, it was a huge hit. The crisp, high-octane animation, precise fight choreography, and smooth motion left a lasting impression on anime fans. But when Season 2 was released in 2019 under J.C. Staff, the studio switch and production quality let many fans down.

The fights lacked the same impact, and the animation felt less refined compared to the first season’s near-cinematic presentation. So, fast-forward to 2025, and guess what? Season 3 is coming out in October. However, the first trailer has already sparked criticism. Fans on social media have pointed out that the animation is kinda meh, recalling those fears that the issues of Season 2 are still present.

On the other hand, Dandadan is experiencing a smooth transition into its second season. Scheduled for a July 2025 release, its animation studio, Science SARU, has already earned praise for handling the adaptation with care and visual flair.

While One Punch Man was burdened with studio changes and extended delays, Dandadan has been able to keep a steady pace. This continuity in production has reassured fans, evoking a sense of expectation rather than anxiety.

Fan reactions on Dandadan Season 2 announcement: Disappointment vs. excitement

The reaction to the new Season 3 trailer has been divided. Some are excited to finally get to see at least some new material, while others are upset at seeing what looks like yet another regression in terms of animation. The uncertainty surrounding the final product makes it difficult for fans to stay hopeful.

On the other hand, Dandadan fans are celebrating the quick turnaround for Season 2. Earlier, there were several complaints from the fans about the incomplete ending of Season 1, however, now, with the announcement of Season 2, fans are completely hyped up.

So all in all, while One Punch Man remains one of the most beloved animes of the past decade, its inconsistent production history has made it a cautionary tale of what can happen when a hit series faces delays and studio changes.

But hey, for all you One Punch Man enthusiasts out there, here’s hoping Season 3 is really going to deliver great action, a compelling story, and a solid continuation of Saitama’s journey.

One Punch Man and Dandadan both are currently available to watch on Crunchyroll. And the sessions will be available shortly once released.
