YOU can turn your Amazon Fire Stick into an Xbox even if you don’t own the console.
Amazon has revealed a clever trick that lets you play top games Xbox games on your TV – including Fortnite, Fallout 4, and Forza Horizon 5.

It works using Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, which is a membership that lets you play games over the cloud.
Normally video games work using discs or filed saved to a console – with your gaming machine rendering the graphics in real-time.
But cloud-gaming handles the graphics over on a cloud server, then beams the visuals back to you. It’s a bit like Netflix, for gaming.
And on certain Amazon Fire TV devices, you can use Xbox’s cloud gaming service to play video games – even if you don’t have a console.
It also means that you’re not limited by the power of your own hardware.
So while a Fire Stick might not have much computing power, Microsoft‘s servers (which power Xbox cloud gaming) can do the hard work.
So you can enjoy top graphics in high resolution, even if you have a slow TV and a Fire Stick. Just download the Xbox app from the Amazon App Store, and sign in.
“This portability also means you can easily move your cloud gaming setup from the living room TV to a different room or even take it on the road,” Amazon explains.
“As long as you have a solid internet connection and your compatible Fire TV Stick, and a compatible controller, your game library and saved progress travels with you.”
Amazon added: “All you have to do is connect a compatible Bluetooth controller and you’re ready to start gaming.”
You don’t even need an Xbox controller – you could even pair PlayStation‘s DualSense joypad if you wanted to.
According to Xbox, the system will work on:

- Amazon Fire TV Cube (3rd Gen)
- Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K Max (2nd Gen)
- Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K (2nd Gen)
And better yet, you can try some games for free without a membership at all.

For instance, Fortnite is available to play without a membership.
But for the bulk of games, you’ll need to pay for an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate membership.
In the UK that costs £14.99 a month, and it’ll set you back $19.99 monthly in the US.
Cloud gaming also works on other devices – including on an iPhone or iPad – so you can pair a controller and start playing easily.
