Minimum Requirements:
- Grade 12
- National Diploma in Conservation, Museum Studies, Archaeology, Art History, or a related field (NQF level 6)
- 3–4 years of practical experience in a museum or conservation laboratory
Job Purpose:
To ensure the long-term preservation and care of the museum collections by implementing preventive and interventive conservation practices, supporting exhibitions and loans, and collaborating with staff to safeguard cultural heritage in accordance with professional conservation standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement preventive and remedial conservation measures
- Perform conservation treatments on objects
- Support the preparation and installation of exhibitions
- Manage environmental monitoring in storage and display areas
- Handle conservation aspects of incoming and outgoing loans
