Chrishell Stause Details ‘Bumpy Road’ to Starting Family With G Flip

Chrishell Stause has been open about her desire to start a family — and isn’t afraid to get real about how difficult the process can be, too.

“Well, it’s been a bumpy road,” Stause, 43, exclusively told Us Weekly on Monday, March 10, of her and partner G Flip’s plans to start a family via adoption.

“We’ve kept the details a little under wraps, just because I don’t think it helps anybody to go into all the details,” she continued. “But I’ll just say to anyone that understands this [adoption] process — there are just a lot of different roadblocks, and so we do feel like we’re on the upswing.”

Stause and G Flip started dating after the reality TV star’s split from Selling Sunset costar and boss Jason Oppenheim in late 2021, after Oppenheim decided he didn’t want kids.

“I, you know, had this serious relationship [with Jason] and obviously, I am hoping to have a family but I’ve also taken some of the pressure off myself as far as what that looks like,” Stause said on the season 5 reunion in May 2022. “I don’t necessarily have to have the child myself — [I’m] open to adoption, things like that. And so I’m just kind of enjoying right now and having a lot of fun and dating.”

Stause and G Flip secretly tied the knot in May 2023 after a year of dating.

“We are feeling really positive about where we’re at currently,” Stause told Us of the adoption process. “And I will tell you this — nobody will be happier to report good news than me when it’s that time. So, until then, I just really feel like everything happens for a reason.”

She continued, “Let me, you know, not get ahead of myself. But we are actively hoping to have good news one day where I can’t, I won’t have to be quiet about it. And I’ll be the first person to actively tell you the good news. But until then, I will just say: yeah, we’re trying, we’re being positive, and hopefully we’ll have good news at some point that I can’t wait to tell you.”

After a year of marriage and while continuing to navigate the ups and downs of family planning, Stause says the love she shares with G Flip is still going strong — and is made evident by the small things her partner continues to do for her every day.

“Things are so amazing with G, actually,” Stause, who recently partnered with Violife for its Creamy Confessions campaign, which invites those flirting with quitting dairy to break up with break up with dairy and commit to Violife via its new dairy free coffee creamer, told Us.

“I’m not saying this because this is why we’re here – I literally, this morning, went to go make a coffee and G had already made me one,” she continued. “I thought they went to the bathroom … That was honestly very sweet. That just happened this morning. So, I feel like we get a kick out of just doing things for each other all the time. And we haven’t left that kind of honeymoon stage of things — which is really lovely.”

Stause went on to explain that both her and G — who uses they/them pronouns — are so busy with their careers, it can make showing up for each other in both the big and small ways not always easy.

“Both of us are so busy all the time,” she added. “G just finished writing a third album and that’s a lot of work — they play every instrument; they write every song … and, you know, my schedule with Traitors and Selling Sunset and just all these things, it’s been crazy.”

“So to constantly put the other one first and try to do the little things,” she continued. “A lot of times it’s about the little things, you know? It’s not about these big grand gestures. It’s, to me, walking out and, like, they had my coffee in hand. That was just so sweet. And I just feel like that goes a long way.”
