But now, it’s bringing its big flavours north of the border.
Wendy’s will set up shop in Glasgow, as part of the brand’s ambitious plans to hit 50 UK restaurants before the year ends.
The fast food chain had not been in the UK for over 20 years until its legendary return in 2021.
Wendy’s bosses confirmed back in 2019 that they would return to the UK, but told investors that it would open within 12 to 18 months.
In May 2021, they revealed plans to open around 400 restaurants across the UK, creating 12,000 jobs in the process.
It will now also be branching out to other locations in Ireland, Romania and other spots down south.
The move will see 150 new jobs created, each offering competitive salaries and benefits.
The chain is splashing out a whopping $70million into its Build-To-Suit development fund to fuel its growth.
Wendy’s is popular beyond the US – it’s the third largest burger chain in the world afterMcDonald’sandBurger King.
The US burger joint, which proudly champions “fresh, quality ingredients”, is famous for its menu staples like the Baconator, the half-pound Dave’s Double and fan favourite the Spicy Chicken Sandwich.
It has also tailored its menu to suit British tastes, with exclusive items like the Avocado Chicken Club, a variety of Chicken Wraps, and chicken nuggets made from whole chicken breast fillet.
And brand-new treats are making their debut, including limited-edition Halloumi Fries and Cinnamon Mini Doughnuts.
Michael Clarke, Managing Director, Europe for The Wendy’s Company said: “We see huge potential in the UK market, with plans to add more than 150 new restaurants across the UK and surrounding countries by 2028. This year, we will focus on accelerating our expansion efforts so more people across the UK can enjoy Wendy’s craveable menu and exceptional customer hospitality. We have a solid foundation in the market and believe we are well-positioned to accelerate our growth trajectory even further.”
He added: “Wendy’s franchisees are at the heart of the brand’s expansion plans, both in the UK and internationally, and strong franchise partnerships enable us to grow at scale.
“We’re deeply committed to supporting our UK franchisees and making co-investments through our Build-To-Suit program, which is a key incentive for them to grow with us.”

Who was Brennan Elliott’s wife?
Camilla “Cami” Row was a Korean-American clinical psychologist.
A California native, she grew up around Orange County and lived in Los Angeles with her family.
Sadly, the 49-year-old actor said his wife of 14 years had died of stage four gastric cancer on March 22 at 5:28 am.
Brennan took to Instagram to reveal the tragic news.
“There is no easy way to say this but I know my wife @camilla_row would have wanted me to thank every person from all over the world who prayed for her over the last 8 years she suffered immeasurably trying to survive,” he wrote alongside a picture of Row on the beach.
Elliott continued: “Our babies and I lost our rock, a person who not only was the love of my life, my soulmate, my best friend and lover but the toughest strongest fearless person I have ever met in my life and the greatest mother to her babies.”
Cami and the Hallmark star tied the knot on September 10, 2011.
Despite being in a high-profile relationship, Cami stayed out of the spotlight as much as possible and kept her social media pages private.
According to her Instagram biography, Cami described herself as a mom, patient advocate, and said she was living her best life with stage 4 stomach cancer.
She was also a budding philanthropist, and dedicated to volunteering with and raising funds for cancer-related charities.
The organization is a “national cancer institute-designated comprehensive cancer center for cancer, diabetes, and other life-threatening diseases,” according to its social media page.
Brennan also affectionately called her his “warrior queen,” according to several Instagram posts.
Following her death, the Crossword Mysteries star told his followers, friends, and family that Cami is finally “at peace” now and no longer in pain.
“You are free! Heaven is a far better place with you in it, my love,” he said, speaking to his wife.
“THANK YOU for being the best wife, mother, and friend I’ve ever known.

“I will always be your hot mess! Missing you on this plane forever but will c u soon! THANKYOU Cami for being YOU!”
Camilla Elliott’s cancer journey
Cami received her initial cancer diagnosis in 2018, after years of suffering from reflux pain.
“I thought I was so healthy. I didn’t smoke. I ate well. So it came as a real shock to me. I didn’t even know stomach cancer was a thing,” she recalled, as reported by Orange Coast Magazine.

“I’m a clinical psychologist by trade, but through this experience, I found this new calling to advocate for patients to receive personalized care,” she added, revealing that she finally went public with her diagnosis in 2022.
In April 2022, Brennan took to social media where he updated his fans on his wife, revealing that she had been diagnosed with stomach cancer.
“Those closest to me know that my Wife Cami has had several bouts with cancer in the past but now she embarks on a new journey as a Stage IV metastatic gastric cancer patient,” Brennan wrote on Instagram.
“There is no one I consider braver, stronger, more Fearless even when you’re Faced with a sinister opponent who never plays fair. Even after countless surgeries and chemotherapy rounds.”
On Friday, June 7, Cami shared a post to her private Instagram account, featuring her sleeping in a hospital bed with Brennan by her side.
She underwent a “mass excision surgery,” which involved “the removal of her belly button to help fight her gastric cancer,” as reported by People.
“Brennan has been pulling double duty, prepping for a movie & coming to see me daily, making the best of a makeshift office in my hospital room as I nap,” Cami shared.

According to Healthline, a stage 4 stomach cancer diagnosis means that the disease has spread through tissue, the bloodstream, or the lymph system.
Stage 4 is reportedly harder to treat than earlier stage stomach cancer and while it is not curable, it is treatable.
Some of the most common treatment options include laser therapy, surgery, chemotherapy, or radiation therapy.

There are also some forms of target drug therapy that can be used to treat the advanced stage.
Do Brennan and Cami have any children together?
Since tying the knot in 2011, Brennan and Cami have welcomed two children, a son and a daughter.
Their son, Liam, was born on July 26, 2012.
The couple’s daughter, Luna, was born on August 30, 2014.
“I have always said being a father is my most challenging yet most fulfilling role. It was nice to wake up to these two thumbs upping me all morning,” the actor captioned a photo of his children on Father’s Day 2021.
Brennan’s children often make appearances on his social media accounts.

As well as a “a vast underground city” spanning over a mile, and a maze of structures linked with corridors, the scientists also claimed that they may have found evidence of a water system.
At a press conference, the team said they believe there is “an entire hidden world of many structures”.
But, as they hail the archaeological find as something that “could redefine our understanding of the sacred topography of ancient Egypt“, fellow researchers have dismissed the study.
One of the world’s top Egyptologists slammed the claim of finding an ancient city as “fake news”.
The group behind the Khafre Project used radar pulses from a satellite to create images from deep underground to reveal what may lie there.
“When we magnify the images [in the future], we will reveal that beneath it lies what can only be described as a true underground city,” the team said.
It is the same technology used to determine the depths of the ocean.
But, Dr Zahi Hawass told The National that the researchers were “completely wrong” claiming that their so-called discovery is not rooted in science.
“The claim of using radar inside the pyramid is false, and the techniques employed are neither scientifically approved nor validated,” he said.
The findings by Professor Corrado Malanga, from Italy‘s University of Pisa, and Filippo Biondi with the University of Strathclyde in Scotland are still waiting to be peer-reviewed by independent scientists.
Professor Lawrence Conyers who works at the University of Denver, specialising in radar and archaeology, also critiqued the study.
He told the Daily Mail that radar pulses could not possibly detect what is that far underground.
The expert called the claims that researchers found a vast city underneath the pyramids “a huge exaggeration”.
However, he said there may be smaller structures like shafts and chambers, highlighting how the site would have been “special to ancient people”
What did the scientists claim to have found?
The researchers claim that directly under the Khafre Pyramid are five structures.
They are believed to be connected by corridors.
From there are what look like eight pillar-like structures with spiral staircases or pipes.
These pillars plummet to a depth of over 2,000 feet with some feeding directly into cube structures which they say could be an ancient water system.
The ancient city is reportedly 3,937 feet below base of pyramid and below that they believe there are more unknown structures that could link to Egyptian lore of the Hall of Records.
Other researchers brought the reputation of the leader of the project, Professor Malanga into question.
He has long been interested in UFO and alien abductions as well as the “Giza power plant” theory – all fringe ideas that have largely been written off by experts as unsubstantiated conspiracy.
The use of AI to create some of the images that accompany the research has also been criticised.
But, Professor Malanga, insists that there more secrets to be revealed from underneath one of the wonders of the world.
He said at the press conference: “Until yesterday, Egyptologists said there was nothing, that is is an empty mountain of stones, but there are a lot of things”.
The professor added that the team used two satellites to carry out the study, to rule out any possibility of “misinterpretation”, noting that the results from the two were “completely consistent”.
His team are reportedly keen to excavate the area to further explore what is below the pyramids, but securing approval from the authorities is incredibly tough.
