SHOPPING in thrift stores is quickly becoming a favorite for many fashion fans – with some amazing bargains to be found.

Many shoppers are turning away from fast fashion and instead choosing to support local charities while picking up some new items.

Charity shops are notorious for great prices, and you may even come across some stellar finds for less.

I decided to put this to the test, and head around a few charity shops to see what I could get.

The idea was to put together five outfits for under €20 each, and I was working with about four shops.

Originally I thought it would be no easy feat as prices have increased as of late, but I was pleasantly surprised.

First I found a gorgeous outfit consisting of a skirt, a top and a blazer.

In total, this outfit came to €14.50 – not bad!

The skirt was a gorgeous, brand-new brown suede material, which cost €7.50 and was from New Look.

I then found two absolute bargains, as both the top and blazer were on sale!

The white top from Shein cost €3, and had a fitted style – but the sleeves were the main detail.

They were puffy white sleeves that were cinched at the wrists.

BARGAIN DRESS

For just €3, I couldn’t believe I had found such a bargain, and it’s perfect for dressing up any outfit.

The top and skirt would be great together for any event, but adding the blazer creates a fab office look that could even work for after-work drinks.

The light pink blazer was on sale for €4, though I have no idea where it’s from as the tag has been ripped off.

Next, I found a gorgeous pink dress that would be great for any weddings or dinners.

The dress had a plunging v-neckline with ruched detailing at the waist, with an asymmetrical skirt.

It was a tight-fitting dress, perfect for showing off your figure.

Originally from I Saw It First, the dress was on sale for just €9.50.

This would be perfect for any formal event, and could even be worn with the light pink blazer from the last outfit when the temperature drops.

OH MY

The next piece was, for me, the highlight of the whole experience.

I was shocked to find a gorgeous peach-coloured dress hanging on the railing, and I recognised the corset detailing.

Turns out, this charity shop was selling an Oh Polly dress that was in perfect condition for just €10.50.

Oh Polly dresses are notorious for being very expensive, so I jumped at the chance to get this.

It is sold out on the Oh Polly website, but is selling on Poshmark for €75.

Trying it on, I was surprised by how well it fit me, it was almost like it was meant to be.

The gorgeous dress has two strappy sleeves, with a corset detailing at the chest.

It features ruched fabric covering the left hip and a slit up the left leg.

It would be perfect for wearing to a dinner date or while on holiday – or even to a summer wedding.

Pair it with some strappy high heels, and you have a very classy and expensive-looking outfit, even though you got it for €10.50.

‘OFFICE LOOK’

For my final outfit, I opted for a more put-together office look, making it my mission to find some trousers and a shirt.

I found a pair of rusty orange and black checked flares, which were originally from Nasty Gal.

They cost just €3.50, which I thought was a bargain.

They have an elasticated waist, with flared bottoms and are super flattering.

This shop didn’t have the best selection, so I did what I could with my options.

I added a black and white shirt, which cost €7.50.

It features a plunging v-neckline, with buttons up the centre and a tie at the collar.

The puffy sleeves gathered into a cinched style at the wrist, and the white shirt was covered with black polka-dot detailing.

PLEASANTLY SURPRISED

As it was a size XL and looked too big, I gathered the ends and folded them to make it look a bit more dressy and less oversized.

All in all, I was happy with my final outfit which came in at €11.

Overall, I was pleasantly surprised by the pieces I found in the charity shops, though the prices aren’t what they once were; they’re still a lot cheaper than shopping for brand-new clothes.

Everything I picked up was in great condition, and many of the items even still had the tags on them.

And I was even happier to know that while I was heading home with a couple of new outfits, I was helping some charities in the process.
