Meet the 14-year-old set to make history after World Snooker Tour offer him two-year professional tour card
MICHAL Szubarczyk has been nominated for a two-year tour card after reaching the final of the 2025 EBSA European Championship in Turkey.
The Polish 14-year-old is set to become the youngest-ever player on the World Snooker Tour.

Michal Szubarczyk swept his way through to the final by beating four competitors before getting the better of former European champion Harvey Chandler 4-3 in the semi-final.
Unfortunately, the teen was then defeated 5-0 in the final by 34-year-old Liam Highfield, stopping Michal from a hattrick of victories.
That comes after the youngster had already won the Under-16 and Under-18 editions of the tournament.
Champion Highfield — who was once ranked 39th in the world — has already earned a two-year WST card via the WPBSA Q-Tour Global play-offs.
Which means his nomination has been passed down to Michal for finishing in second place, should he wish to accept the invitation.
If he does accept the invitation, then the rising star will instantly make history as the youngest WST pro in history.
Not only would he be able to swap his homework for the practice tables, but he would also come up against some of snooker’s biggest stars on tour.
Players such as Ronnie O’Sullivan, Judd Trump and Kyren Wilson would all become potential opponents for the Polish prodigy.

Snooker fans online were excited at the prospect of seeing such a young talent shine on the biggest stage.
One wrote: “Yes! Come on! Even more talent!”
While another added: “Next generation!”
A third joked: “Let everyone know that Poland now has their own Luke Littler“
And a fourth posted: “Wow! Must be some player. European Amateur finalist at 14 is an incredible achievement.”
Who is Michal Szubarczyk?
Michal was born in Lublin, Poland on January 12, 2011.
I was too relaxed because we weren’t playing for a ticket to the main tour anymore, so I was very happy after the tournament
Michal Szubarczyk
His journey into snooker began at the age of six when he started watching the sport on television with his dad Kamil.
Michał’s family has played a crucial role in his development as a player.
His father went from running his own business full-time, to working part-time and supporting Michał as his coach and manager.
Michał’s skills extend beyond snooker — the lad also enjoys playing football and chess.
Rise to prominence
The youngster’s rise in the snooker world has been meteoric.

At just 12 years old, he won the Polish national championships at both under-18 and under-21 levels.
He also made his first maximum (147) break at this tender age, showcasing his precocious talent.
Tournament Record
In August 2024, at the age of 13, Michał became the youngest ever winner of the IBSF World Under-21 Snooker Championship in Bengaluru, India.
He dominated the final, defeating 2023 runner-up Alexander Widau 5-1.
His tournament record for the 2024/2025 season includes reaching the last 64 in the 2025 World Snooker Federation (WSF) Championship.

Michal also made the quarter-finals in the 2025 WSF Junior Championship.
‘I couldn’t sleep’
After losing to Liam Highfield in the final at the 2025 European Championship on March 22, Michal told Polish TVP Sport: “I couldn’t sleep, but probably not because of emotions, but because I didn’t feel like sleeping.
“I was thinking about the main tour. I was imagining what I would do in the World Championship qualifiers.
“It doesn’t matter who I’m competing with, I just want to play with professionals.”
He added: “I stayed in the stands after my match. I watched what was happening.
“I didn’t talk to Liam, but that’s because I’m a bit shy. The lost final wasn’t a big disappointment for me. Before it came a wave of excitement.
“It made me focus a little less on the last match. I was too relaxed because we weren’t playing for a ticket to the main tour anymore, so I was very happy after the tournament.”

Counties set to miss out on ‘persistent rain’ pinpointed as Met Eireann give ‘chance of hail’ warning THIS week
THE area in Ireland that will avoid heavy rainfall this week has been been pinpointed as conditions are set to see a major shift.
Despite the coming days being mild and calm on the weather front, showers are set to emerge by the end of the week.

However, one lucky area appears to escape the rainfall as weather experts confirmed the rest of the country will be hit with “persistent rain” and winds from the Atlantic building up.
Carlow Weather’s Alan O’Reilly shared that the southeast of the country will see the bout of bad weather bypass them.
Alan said: “Cloud increasing from the West but what a Monday and Ireland looking well in this high resolution satellite image from NASA today.
“Not much rain up to Thursday, just odd shower and Southeast may escape. Here’s to many more days of sunshine this coming summer.”
This week is looking to see bright and sunny spells developing before a turn on Wednesday evening, bringing breezier and wetter days.
Today is looking to start off damp before gradually seeing sunny spells break through.
And temperatures today will hit a weekly high, rising as high as 15C in some areas.
Met Eireann’s Brandon Creagh said: “Well after a damp misty start this morning it will gradually brighten up this afternoon with patchy light rain and drizzle clearing southwards becoming mostly cloudy for a time before gradually brightening up with sunshine developing in the afternoon.
“Highest temperatures of 12C to 15C in a light northwest or variable breeze.”
Tonight will see temperatures drop significantly but remain clear, making way for mist and fog to form.
He said: “Into tonight continuing cold and dry with long clear spells at first before cloud builds from the west by morning.
“Patches of mist and fog forming in light southwest or variable breezes and lowest temperatures of 1C to 4C.”
REST OF THE WEEK
Wednesday morning will see most of that mist clear early on with sunny spells breaking through again.
And weather bosses confirmed that the south and east are expected to see the best of this, with temperatures again hitting 15C.
Brandon said: “Tomorrow Wednesday will have areas of mist clear with sunny spells following the best of the sunshine in the south and east.
“Some more persistent rain will move into the northwest later on in the evening with highest temperatures tomorrow of 12C to 15C in a light moderate southwest wind freshening in the northwest later.”
Thursday, however, will start to really see some change as cloud takes over and brings more rain and drizzle throughout the day.
He said: “Looking ahead to Thursday a mostly cloudy and breezy day with patchy rain and drizzle.
“More persistent rain developing in Atlantic coastal areas towards evening again and highest temperatures of 10C to 13C in a moderate fresh southwest wind increasing strong at times near Atlantic coasts.”
Friday is set to be a cool day with temperatures dropping again to 8C to 10C, with widespread showers and a chance of hail to develop, and many of these showers becoming heavy at times.
Saturday will continue on this front, with rain spreading from the west early on before clearing to bring some sun.
Showers will remain throughout the evening but not as heavy as earlier in the day, with temperatures between 10C and 14C.

Trailer for Meghan Markle’s new podcast drops with duchess promising ‘girl talk’ & joking about guest’s love life
MEGHAN Markle has dropped the trailer for her new podcast – and she promises “girl talk”.
The Duchess, 43, announced earlier this month her latest business venture, Confessions of a Female Founder, would launch on April 8.

The mum-of-two said in the sneak peek: “I’m Meghan, and this is Confessions of a Female Founder, a show where I chat with female entrepreneurs and friends about the sleepless nights, the lessons learned and the laser focus that got them to where they are today.
“We’re diving into the highs — and the lows – and the kind of advice that turns small ideas into billion-dollar businesses…And of course, we’re going to get some girl talk!”
The exciting trailer also revealed snippets taken from her guests.
One shared: “It just started climbing and climbing, and there was 5,000, 10,000 people on our website.”
Another recalled: “I knew in that moment that I’d rather stand for something than sell a whole ton of product and stand for nothing.”
But, as promised, the Duchess also teased listeners with some more juicy conversation.
She asked one speaker if they were single and hinted we could be given an inside scoop into their relationship status.
At the end of the podcast clips, Meghan said: “This is not Shark Tank, think of this as ‘dolphin tank.’
“These are very friendly waters, it’s all going to be good.”
Confessions of a Female Founder will feature eight episodes and focus on Meghan’s journey as an entrepreneur.
It follows the release of her eight-part Netflix series With Love, Meghan which saw her making meals and crafting with Hollywood pals.
The new podcast which succeeds her first, Archetypes, will see the mum-of-two chatting to small business owners and how they grew their empires.
This will compliment the launch of her latest re-brand, As Ever, which has so far teased products including fruit preserves and embroidered napkins.
However, With Love, Meghan has since received fierce criticism and currently has a rating of just 2.8/10 on IMDb.
Meanwhile, As Ever was faced with several blows after fellow business owners, and a Majorcan mayor, accused the Duchess of plagiarism over the name and logo.
And, Archetypes was axed from Spotify less than a year after its debut – seeing the Sussexes reportedly lose out on an £18 million payout.
Stacey Solomon reveals she WON’T pass her millions down to her six kids with Joe Swash
STACEY Solomon has revealed she and husband Joe Swash won’t pass down their wealth to their kids insisting “they are their own person.”
The Loose Women panelist shares daughters Rose, three, and Belle, two, as well as son Rex, five, with husband Joe Swash.

Stacey, 35, is also a mum to look-a-like eldest Zach, who recently turned 17, and 12-year-old Leighton from previous relationships.
Meanwhile, Joe, 43, is also parent to eldest son Harry, who he shares with ex Emma Sophocleous.
Yet despite her whopper fortune Stacey has insisted she wants her brood to “feel accomplished” and be “excited” about earning their own cash.
In a new interview the TV favourite, who lives in stunning Essex bolthole Pickle Cottage with the EastEnders actor, was frank about the future.
The star has an £8million business portfolio and estimated net worth of £5million.
The X Factor alum told The Mirror of her finances and said: “We don’t have some sort of inherited wealth that we can pass down for generations.
“It’s really important for them to know that this is our career and we will support our family in whichever way we can, but eventually they are their own person.”
Stacey then drew on her own experiences and added: “My dad didn’t treat us any differently, as soon as we got jobs, we had to contribute.
“I was excited to earn my own money and be financially independent. I want my children to be excited for that too.
“It’s a wider picture of their self-worth and their happiness in general. I want them to feel accomplished and have things.
“It’s very difficult to go through life without needing anything or wanting anything.
“I don’t want to leave them in that position.”
In her own career, Stacey has already ventured into the world of fashion, beauty, chat shows, reality TV, and social media advertisement.
But her latest business is in the “television programme production activities”, according to Companies House.
Stacey Solomon's career so far

Stacey Solomon has been a familiar face on viewers' screens for over a decade. Let's take a look back at her career.
The X Factor (2009): Stacey competed in series six of long-running ITV singing competition The X Factor. During her time in the show, she was mentored by Danni Minogue in the ‘Girls’ category. The star finished in third place, behind Joe McElderry and Olly Murs.
I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here (2010); In late 2010, Stacey headed to the infamous I’m A Celeb Aussie jungle. After 21 days, she triumphed to win the tenth series. It was through I’m A Celeb that she met future husband Joe Swash – who’d won two years earlier and was hosting the ITV2 spinoff.
Celebrity Juice (2011―2013, 2016―2019): The star appeared as a panellist on 21 episodes of the comedy panel game show hosted by Keith Lemon. Stacey was a regular in the 21st series, broadcast in 2019.
Loose Women (2016 – present): Stacey has been a permanent panel member of the daytime show since 2016. She previously made guest appearances in 2011 and 2012.
Sort Your Life Out (2022 -present): This BBC show sees Stacey, with the help of an expert team, transform participants’ living spaces after removing clutter.
Stacey set up Zach Leighton and Rex Productions Limited towards the end of last year, around the same time she cut ties with fast fashion label InTheStyle.
It comes after Zach, who is training to be a mechanic, and Leighton, made their debut in Channel 4 soap Hollyoaks.
Brand and culture expert Nick Ede said he believed that Stacey is eyeing world domination, and estimates her impressive business portfolio could be valued around £8million in the next few years “with the way she is going.”
Her choice follows a similar decision by Made In Chelsea alum Spencer Matthews.
The reality star turned ultra marathon runner told how he won’t leaver his fortune to his kids amid nepo baby fears.
Other famous faces including Daniel Craig and Sara Davies have also taken the same stance when it comes to their inheritance.
The James Bond star even admitting he finds the practise “distasteful.”
Popstar Sting has also thrown his support behind the decision, which will see many a celeb omit their offspring from their will.

Man Utd injury boost as Amad Diallo hints at early comeback with cryptic Snapchat post
MANCHESTER UNITED have been given a potential injury boost after Amad Diallo appeared to hint at an early comeback with a cryptic Snapchat post.
The 22-year-old had been United’s best player this season until he suffered a setback last month.

Diallo damaged his ankle ligaments during a training session in mid-February and was ruled out for the rest of the season.
It came as a major blow to Ruben Amorim, with Diallo stepping up as United’s best player with nine goals in 36 outings.
The whizz had only just signed a new contract too.
But Diallo has now given fans a glimmer of hope over his fitness return.
Posting a picture to Snapchat, the Ivory Coast star showed a picture of himself along with two emojis – an egg timer and a smiley face.
It appeared to suggest that Diallo’s recovery is coming along well.
But it remains to be seen whether he does indeed return before the end of the campaign.
United are in dire need of some inspiration as they sit just 13th in the Premier League table.

United are in dire need of some inspiration as they sit just 13th in the Premier League table.
Amorim’s men have won just 10 of their 29 matches and are seven points off the top half with just nine games to go.

But earlier this month the Red Devils boss revealed there could soon be good news over Diallo’s availability.
Amorim said: “Amad we will see in the last month.
“I don’t want to say anything but I have the hope to have him before the end of the season.
“Let’s talk (about the next game) and we’ll see.”
Marc Canham opened FAI briefing with Stephen Bradley joke – but isn’t seeing faces within Irish football smiling back
MARC CANHAM opened a media briefing yesterday with a joke.
He said: “I put up a Powerpoint slide because I know you all know I love Powerpoints.”

It was a clear reference to Shamrock Rovers’ boss Stephen Bradley saying that “Football isn’t about Powerpoint presentations, it’s about people and connections”.
Bradley did not mention FAI chief football officer Canham by name in February — but no one in football doubted that he was one of the people he had in mind.
Through authoring the Football Pathways Plan, and Heimir Hallgrimsson’s long and drawn-out appointment, Canham has become a public figure — and a lightning rod for criticism.
He said: “I understand the role I’m in. It’s a high-profile role and I actually enjoy that responsibility.
“Do I enjoy getting so much criticism? Not necessarily — but I genuinely believe in what we’re trying to do.
“I know the role comes with scrutiny. I’m a steady, calm character.
“Would I like people to be speaking more positively? Yes, I’m only human.”
For Irish football which chronically needs investment and change, and needed them yesterday, patience is often thin on the ground.
But the FAI CFO warned that there was no quick fix.
League of Ireland clubs need financial support — around €8million a year — to put in place the type of quality academies that will help develop the next generation of Irish footballers, both male and female.
But Canham warned that even if the Government turned on the tap today, it would likely be 18 months before academies would be up and running fully.
He remains hopeful that State funding will be secured this year, with a meeting with the Government scheduled for next week.
But he also confirmed that an audit of club academies will not be completed for another few months — and it is hard to envisage funding being approved before then.
Given the FAI missed the deadline to apply for support from the Brexit Readjustment Fund, clubs are growing impatient when everyone accepts any delay damages the game.
This is why the FAI proposed a National Pathways Programme, a way of bringing the best players in for extra contact hours that they cannot get at academies at the moment.
But the League of Ireland clubs rejected the move, calling it “poorly conceived” and not warranting “any serious consideration”.
ONLY FOR SHORT-TERM
Canham, however, stressed that the plan is only intended to be short-term until the club-led academy system is fully operational — and is necessary to bridge the gap for kids now.
He said: “This has come up in the media and is being talked about in a certain way, but I personally am very comfortable with the process.
“We have to take some action to give the volume and quality of coaching that these young players need.
“Think of Evan Ferguson, one of the last players to move before Brexit kicked in. Compare him as a 17-year-old to a 17-year-old now.
“We have said we won’t launch the programme until clubs are comfortable with it.
“We fundamentally believe that clubs should have a club-led player development model and that will ultimately create the sustainable success that we need.”
But without the funding, there is frustration.
Canham insisted that work continues and an education strategy will be announced soon — though it will not be the scholarship scheme funded by Ireland players announced in 2023.
That scheme, which would have seen current and former internationals such as Gavin Bazunu, Séamus Coleman and James McClean provide backing, never happened.
Canham said: “We did create timelines to achieve that, that obviously didn’t go at a speed that the players were hoping (for), and the structure wasn’t what they wanted it to be, and they decided to step away.
“We remain open to those conversations with those players or other players if they want to come and work directly with us.”
He has also faced flak over how former women’s assistant manager Colin Healy did not have his FAI contract renewed.
The ex-Celtic player has since lodged a complaint about his treatment.
While Canham said he regretted how the exit played out on a “human” level, he rejected claims he had verbally assured Healy he would get a new contract.
