Top 15 things fans would do it they could own their club for a day revealed including name a stand after themselves

The fan poll saw the majority wanted fairer ticketing for supporters across the EFL[/caption]

Nearly 30 per cent of respondents to the poll believe clubs across the English pyramid could do better when it comes to spending their cash.

Player transfers, team kits, and marketing were just some areas fans believe their club invests too much in.

While reducing ticket prices for fans and pumping money into youth academies topped the wishlist.

Supporters also want teams to offer free tickets to those who can’t afford them, while a cap on players’ wages was equally popular.

And some cheekily claimed they would name a stand after themselves or build a statue if given free rein.

Chris Houghton, CEO of Egg, which commissioned the research, said: “We’ve loved hearing what fans would do if they were club owners for a day.

“Football plays such a big part in many of our lives.

“So it’s no wonder there is so much passion and inspiring ideas about what would make the nation’s favourite teams even better.”

Even if being the owner is a far-off dream, the study found 48 per cent would like to have more of a say in how their club is run.

A large part of this would be changing how the money is spent, with fans wanting to see bigger investments in local community initiatives (41 per cent).

Stadium upgrades were also on the agenda, (34 per cent), as well as the addition of mental health and wellbeing services (33 per cent).

And a whopping 78 per cent believe sustainability is important in football and should be prioritised by clubs.

It also emerged that fan-focused advisory boards would be an avenue for increasing supporter involvement, with 78 per cent believing more clubs would benefit from this.

That model is utilised in Germany, where the 50+1 rule ensures that clubs are majority-owned by their members.

Supporters are also eager for a shift towards valuing eco-friendly policies, especially in terms of sponsorship.

TOP 15 THINGS FOOTBALL FANS WOULD DO IF THEY COULD BE OWNER FOR A DAY

1. Reduce ticket prices
2. Put more money behind youth academies
3. Offer free tickets to those who can’t afford them
4. Put a cap on players’ wages
5. Arrange fan and player interactions
6. Improve toilet facilities
7. Better recycling facilities e.g. dedicated bins for paper, food waste, glass, plastic
8. Make the club green with improvements like installing solar panels on the roof of the stadium
9. Add live music performances at half time
10. Install heated seats in the stadium
11. Give more vegetarian and vegan options at the stadium
12. Name a stand after myself
13. Erect a statue of my favourite player
14. Change the kit
15. Invest in new players

47 per cent said they wouldn’t be happy if their clubs partnered with a fossil fuel company – instead of a green alternative.

And if clubs are set on investing in fossil fuels, 61 per cent believe these should be offset by doing more for the environment.

This was also reflected in the changes fans would like to see by the year 2030, with 22 per cent dreaming of solar-powered stadiums.

While 18 per cent hope for better recycling facilities, and 16 per cent expect to see players travelling more sustainably in the next five years.

Houghton added: “This data shows that it isn’t just the scores and wins – every aspect of the club is important to fans, including sustainability.

“As more and more of us become aware of the issues affecting the environment and take steps to be more eco-conscious, we also want to see this mindset shared by the players and teams we love so much.”

Watch the brutal moment MAFS Australia bride slams sex with groom – and he looks gutted

A MAFS bride slammed sex with her groom in a brutal moment on the show, leaving him to look gutted.

Discussing her and Billy’s night of intimacy, Sierah said: “It felt like a drunken fumble.

“I like Billy but I feel my feelings are fleeting.”

But Billy admitted: “I felt like we were connecting.”

It was clear for both the viewers and experts to see that Sierah and Billy had different views of how their night of passion had gone.

Meanwhile, in another blow to the relationship, at the end of Thursday night’s episode – Sierah and Adrian appeared to be discreetly playing footsie under the table.

While discussing the lack of connection she felt for Billy, Sierah revealed that she ended up confiding in Adrian off screen.

Billy felt betrayed because he had opened up to Sierah with an emotional letter about feeling rejected by his father, while she chose to open up to someone else.

Adrian also confirmed that he opened up to Sierah, leaving his wife totally confused that he would share his past with another bride.

During their chat with the experts, Sierah admitted she wanted more “physical touch”, while Billy wanted an emotional bond.

After finding out that Sierah had confided in Adrian, Billy was left hurt.

Sierah told the experts: “I don’t want Billy to think I’m damaged goods,” as she broke down in tears.

On last week’s Dinner Party, Sierah, who is married to Billy Belcher, was sat beside Adrian, who is married to Awhina Rutene.

After Adrian and Awhina had a row at the dinner table over how she has a child but feels he is reluctant to accept that she is a mother, Adrian turned his attention to another wife.

Following Adrian and Awhina’s quarrel, he could be seen smirking after speaking to Sierah, who had leaned in for a chat.

Sierah then moved her foot towards Adrian’s foot, with them playing footsie in a discreet way beneath the table where everyone was eating dinner.

Adrian quickly covered his face with his hand, seemingly rather flustered by their physical exchange.

John O’Shea gives surprising response to Adam Idah’s ‘shush’ goal celebration for Ireland vs Bulgaria

IRELAND’S sulky stars have been told to keep on proving their point on the pitch.

Adam Idah spoke to Heimir Hallgrimsson about his unhappiness at not being used in Plovdiv last Thursday.

The 118-times capped legend didn’t see any reason to be negative about it though

The Celtic star insisted his ‘shushing’ celebration after scoring in the return game in Dublin was not directed at the Ireland boss but at online critics.

But assistant boss John O’Shea is happy for players to be browned off as management strive for competition for places to drive a successful World Cup qualification campaign.

O’Shea said: “Good, that’s what we need.

“The best way to answer is when he came on the pitch, score goals and do what you have to do.

“We need competition, we are talking about beating tier-one nations and qualifying for tournaments, we are going to need our strikers scoring goals and it’s important we have that reaction.”

Troy Parrott started both games — teeing up Finn Azaz’s goal in Bulgaria — with Evan Ferguson netting after he was included in the first XI in Dublin.

Parrott has thrived since his move to AZ Alkmaar with O’Shea impressed with how he has improved aspects of his play.

He said: “I know Troy a long time, his quality in terms of finishing, his touch, his touch for the goal the other night was incredible.

“It’s getting that consistency in his play, bringing other players into play and being a threat himself.”

Parrott moved to Holland — initially on loan to Excelsior — after struggling to make the breakthrough at Tottenham, with loan moves in England’s lower leagues not always going to plan.

He bagged Europa League goals against Elfsborg, Roma, Ferencvaros and Galatasaray before their run in that competition was ended by Spurs.

O’Shea said: “Troy made that call himself, he thought he had to try something a bit different.

“That’s the bravery and the confidence he has.”

And he believes a move to a bigger league could be on the cards.

O’Shea added: “If Troy is assisting and scoring goals like he is, that will happen naturally.”
