Harrowing CCTV shows moment two Thai brothel bar bouncers wrestle screaming and ‘erratic’ Brit to ground before he dies

HORRIFYING CCTV footage caught the moment two brothel bar bouncers wrestled a Brit to the ground in Thailand before he died.

Nick Weir, 28, was said to have been behaving erratically before he was allegedly beaten to death at 2am in the holiday hotspot.

The British tourist tried to force his way into the 91karakoe bar in Bangkok on Monday morning.

He was demanding to be served beers at the venue where several local women in their early 20s were working.

But the holidaymaker was kicked out by two male bouncers who chased him on a motorcycle.

The tourist, who managed a packaging company in Salisbury, Wiltshire, was spotted running along a road in Bangkok.

CCTV footage showed the terrifying moment the bouncers chased after the privately-educated Brit, who was wearing a yellow t-shirt, on a motorcycle.

The Thai pair appeared to pull up alongside Nick and he briefly sat on the back of the bike before speaking with the pair.

This footage then showed a shocking fight ignite between the brothel bouncers and Nick.

The holidaymaker charged at the Thai men and climbed onto their motorbike before the bouncers dragged him onto a pavement and appeared to try and restrain him.

The footage, which is too distressing to show in full, appeared to show Nick screaming in agony on the floor.

Nick can be heard pleading for “help” and shouting in pain as the attack continues.

The footage then showed the pair shockingly pinning Nick down for more than 10 minutes, as people came up to the fight scene, before calling an ambulance.

Cops said the bouncers attacked Leeds University graduate Nick in a nearby alleyway but then called the emergency services when he was knocked unconscious.

Nick was pronounced dead at the scene, around 200 meters from the 91karakoe bar he had tried to visit.

One of Nick’s friends, talking from the UK, said they were in shock at the news of Nick’s tragic death.

The friend said: “Oh my god, I didn’t know. That was not in Nick’s character at all. He was so polite, the nicest guy. I can’t believe it. I can’t process this.

“I knew he was in Thailand. I messaged him yesterday but haven’t heard back from him.”

Officers are now questioning the two Thai men, Phurinat, 32, and Boonchou, 29, over the alleged attack in the Bang Sue district of the capital.

Thai police said that CCTV showed that the Brit did not appear to be drunk when he arrived at the shop because he was “running in a straight line”.

However, they said he was “shouting and causing a commotion”.

Cops said he had been running for around half a mile from a nearby supermarket before he arrived at the karaoke shop, which doubles as a brothel with girls available throughout the night into the early hours of the morning.

Lieutenant Colonel Apichai Hwanjit, Deputy Superintendent of the Bang Po station said: “During the scuffle, they pushed and wrestled, causing the foreigner to fall.

“We are unsure if there was any pressure applied during the fall that caused the death, so we are waiting for the forensic results.”

Officers said that the British Embassy had been informed of the death.

A FCDO spokesperson told The Sun: “We are providing support to the family of a British man who died in Bangkok and are in contact with the local authorities.”

Total returns: £28,690

The Dagenham bettor netted their jackpot win by correctly predicting the exact scoreline in four World Cup qualifiers at odds of 1,400/1.

Alongside correctly selecting a 3-0 victory for Thomas Tuchel’s England against Latvia, the customer’s in-shop accumulator was on the ropes when Albania entered the 90th minute against Andorra with a 2-0 lead, with the punter predicting a 3-0 scoreline.

But Myrto Uzuni’s 92nd-minute goal dramatically turned the betslip into a winner, seeing the customer walk away with a handsome £28,690 from a £20 stake.

Spokesperson for William Hill, Lee Phelps, said: “This is a fantastic in-shop win for our customer in Dagenham.

“It just goes to show that football really is a game of fine margins – especially when there’s an ambitious four-fold on the line!

“A last-gasp Albania goal last night turned what looked like an agonising near-miss into a sensational £28,000 payout.

“Landing an accumulator like this takes a mix of knowledge, nerve, and a bit of luck, and we’re delighted to see a local punter take home such an incredible return from just a £20 stake.”

€200 payment cut for 19,000 Irish households in days ‘will not address issues’ blast as 3 new scheme rules proposed

A MAJOR payment for around 19,000 Irish households is being cut in only a matter of days.

The Accommodation Recognition Payment is paid out to over 19,000 Irish households who have housed Ukrainian refugees in their property.

Minister for Children, Disability and Equality Norma Foley is set to bring a proposal to cabinet today to cut the ARP from €800 to €600.

The proposals will go before the Dail and Seanad later this week before kicking in next month.

However, Sinn Fein spokesperson on Justice, Home Affairs and Migration, Matt Carthy, has hit out at the move and claimed that it will not reduce the impact of the scheme on the rental sector.

He said: “The Ukrainian Accommodation Recognition Payment was originally paid at a rate of €400 per month, the government then increased it to €800. Now they are reducing it to €600.

“The government does not know what it is doing. Its approach has been confused, chaotic and uninformed by any analysis of the impact of what it has done on the rental sector.

“There are now serious questions around the use of taxpayers money on this scheme and why the payment under the scheme was increased to €800 in December 2022.”

The payment is a tax-free allowance of €800 per month for any property bring used as accommodation for Ukrainian refugees.

To avail of this, the accommodation must be provided for at least six months and meet a number of requirements.

The payment will not be given if there is a rental agreement with the person being hosted but not affected if they contribute towards costs.

The ARP can be backdated to March 4, 2022 or when recipients began hosting, with €400 per month given until December 2022.

This will not impact any means test for grants or payments by the Department of Social Protection.

Carthy said he has “repeatedly” raised the issue of the “unfairness” of the payment and the impact it is having on the private rental sector.

He said: “Until now there has been absolutely no acknowledgement from government about the impact of the ARP on the rental sector.

“Last week, Minister Foley confirmed to me in a reply to a parliamentary question that she had not sought any briefings, reports or analysis on the impact of the ARP on the rental sector.

‘SERIOUS ISSUES’

“In the same reply she stated that the ARP was not interfering with the rental market.

“Now this morning we hear that the government believes that a cut of €200 will reduce the potential impact on the rental market.

“It is clear that the government does not know what it is doing in relation to the ARP but wants to be seen to do something.”

Foley has proposed to reduce the rate to €600, with Carthy claiming the Government has “failed to recognise the serious issues” within it.

He continued: “Reducing the rate from €800 to €600 will not address the key issues with this scheme.

“The government has failed to recognise the serious issues of unfairness at the heart of the scheme which is not means tested like other housing supports.

“If it does not end the practice of top up payments today’s proposed rate reduction will make no difference at all.”

Carthy said Sinn Fein has tabled an amendment to the government’s motion to extend the ARP to the end of March 2026.

The amendment calls for three new rule-changes to the scheme.

He explained: “That amendment demands that the scheme only be extended for those Ukrainians who satisfy a means test, limits new applicants to those who house recipients in their own homes; and bans the practise of ‘top-up’ payments.”
