‘I think she’d come around’ – Roman Fury reveals why even Tyson’s wife Paris will be on board for Anthony Joshua fight

ROMAN FURY expects even Paris to come around to the idea of husband Tyson returning to fight Anthony Joshua.

The Gypsy King looked on course for a Great British double header with AJ this year after two losses to Oleksandr Usyk in 2024.

But those plans went up in smoke after Tyson announced a shock retirement in January – which left even his younger brother stunned.

Roman, 28, said: “I was as surprised, that’s Tyson, isn’t it?

“One day, one minute he’s thinking one thing and the next minute he’s doing another thing.

“That’s just the way his mind works. He could wake up tomorrow and decide he’s coming back to boxing.

“We just don’t know. But that’s the exciting thing, when looking at him, isn’t it?

“So we’ll just have to see, what happens next, but I can see him coming back definitely.

“I just think there’s another big fight out there that we all want to see that needs to happen.

“So it’s just a case of getting the money right and getting everything else sorted but I don’t think he’ll stay retired for too long.”

Roman – a 4-0 boxer himself – admits he joins the nation in wanting brother Tyson, 36, to settle the score with Joshua, 35, once and for all.

He said: “For me, he doesn’t need to come back. He’s got enough money to last lifetimes. He’s proved everything. He’s won all the titles.

“So it’s just a case of whether he can just sustain the lifestyle that he’s living now, because obviously he’s been to the highest highs and now just kind of living a normal life.

“So it’s if he gets that itch again, to come out and do it.

“But the only thing that I’m looking at that will pull him back is that Anthony Joshua fight, because I don’t care what’s happened, everyone still wants to see that fight. Including me.”

Tyson has continued to promise wife Paris that he will hang up the gloves for good.

But 28-year-old Roman reckons even Paris will be on board for the AJ super-fight.

He said: “I think she’d come around, yeah. You know, it’s been talked about for how many years now.

“These two, the biggest fight in British boxing history, if you ask me. So I think it’s just a matter of time and we’ll see him.”

Roman was due to return to the ring on Saturday in Manchester against American TV star Chase DeMoor, 28.

But the bout has been postponed after headliner KSI, 31, was forced out of his fight against Dillon Danis, 31, due to illness.

Roman had expected big brother Tyson to be in attendance to inspire a best-ever performance.

Roman said: “It’s good for him to come and watch because it does spur me on as well because when he’s there.

“I want to do an extra good performance because he’s the one that set it all off for us so it’s only fair that that.”

‘Tensions always arise’ – Tuchel questioned by Germany icon who says his chemistry with Kane at Bayern was ‘not perfect’

THOMAS TUCHEL has often faced tension in previous jobs and he was not the best fit for Harry Kane at Bayern Munich, according to Germany legend Philipp Lahm.

The England boss has had six managerial jobs previously but only lasted more than three years in one role – as Mainz boss.

And Lahm believes that is often because Tuchel’s relationships can prove fractious, either with players or his superiors.

Lahm claims Tuchel lacked connection with Bayern’s leading stars, including England captain Kane.

He told the New York Times: “It does not always go well for him and when it fails, it’s never because of tactics, but rather interpersonal relationships.

“His departure from Mainz was fractious. In Dortmund, there were conflicts with the club management, in Paris, with Neymar and Kylian Mbappe, and at Chelsea, with Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital after they bought the club.

“No matter where he works, tensions seem to arise at some point.

“Apart from Mainz (2009 to 2014), Tuchel has never stayed anywhere for three years.

“His biggest problem at Bayern was also not a sporting one, but the lack of connection with leading players such as Thomas Muller or Leon Goretzka, and the chemistry with Kane was probably not perfect either.”

Tuchel is already making his mark on the Three Lions squad and after winning his first two matches he has issued an instruction to Kane.

The striker has been told to stop dropping deep into midfield as Tuchel believes he came too deep to collect the ball during the Euros.

Tuchel said: “I know Harry as a top, top professional who does what is asked of him and he does it now with Bayern Munich.

“They play with a very high press – they almost man-mark.

“I saw him here for England dropping deeper and deeper in his game and this is maybe not exactly what we want with Harry.

“Making him drop as a No.9 is not a problem, but it should not be the No.6 position.

“Dropping as a No10, turning and shooting from range and delivering from outside the box is not a problem.

“But then we need to make sure that around him is enough speed and high position to take advantage of the space.

“We have the highest expectations when we bring him in. He is our captain.

“He will maybe never be the most outspoken person, never be the most emotional leader out there on the pitch.

“But in the group, we have high expectations he has to live up to.

“And, of course, in terms of intensity in the game, pressing, closing down players, we will not take any exceptions of the rule.”

Jake Paul reveals his five-man boxing hitlist of opponents including Anthony Joshua and Canelo Alvarez

JAKE PAUL has drawn up a list of five boxing opponents on his hitlist.

The YouTuber-turned-boxer is coming off victory over 58-year-old Mike Tyson in November in a bout slammed over the age gap.

But still over 100 MILLION tuned in to watch on Netflix – with Paul keen to replicate that huge success.

It prompted shock talks with Mexican legend Canelo Alvarez, 34, for a Las Vegas fight in May.

But Canelo walked away with the deal to instead sign a four-bout deal with Saudi Arabia’s Turki Alalshikh.

So Paul, 28, heads back to the drawing board and revealed his dream opponents.

He told the New York Post: “There’s a lot of names. I think Gervonta [Davis], Canelo, Tommy Fury, KSI, I want Anthony Joshua.

“The list goes on and on and on and then my main goal is to become world champion and we’ll see who that is and what point in time I make that happen.”

After talks with Canelo collapsed, behind the scenes Paul’s team entered talks with WBA lightweight champion Davis.

Due to the SIX STONE weight difference between them, the fight would have been an exhibition opposed to a professionally-sanctioned bout.

But Davis, 30, is now headed for a rematch with Lamont Roach, 29, following their controversial draw.

Paul’s only defeat came in February 2023 against Fury, 25, via split-decision and there have been talks for a rematch.

KSI, 31, meanwhile is the American’s long-time rival but a dispute over their fight weight has so far stalled talks.

Canelo faces William Scull, 32, in an undisputed super-middleweight world title clash on May 4 in Saudi Arabia.

And then a super-fight against Terence Crawford, 37, is due to follow in September with UFC boss Dana White in line to promote.

Despite Paul’s feud with White, he still holds out hope for the Canelo bout, saying: “I think it will happen for sure, at the end of the day.

“Canelo is his own boss and he would never let those guys control his career.”
