Amputee, 51, ‘mowed down and killed by own Mercedes while trying to stop burglar who used car as weapon’
A ONE-legged amputee was mowed down and killed by his own Mercedes while trying to stop a burglar, a court heard.
Marc Allen, 51, strapped on his prosthetic limb and chased down Errol Woodger after the 38-year-old allegedly broke into his flat.
Jurors heard after seeing Woodger jump into his Mercedes GLA, Marc chased him down shouting: “You aren’t taking my car”.
But Woodger used the car as a “weapon” and sped towards the dad-of-one, the Old Bailey was told.
Neighbours heard a sickening “crack” as Marc was thrown across the bonnet and then over the roof, causing severe head injuries.
He was rushed to hospital but tragically couldn’t be saved and was declared dead around a month after the horror in December 2019.
The court was told Marc’s car keys were taken from his home in Erith, South East London, during the robbery.
The vehicle had been supplied by a mobility scheme due to Marc’s prosthetic limb.
One local heard shouting coming from outside and saw her neighbour stood on his driveway by the rear of the Mercedes.
Prosecutor Anthony Orchard KC said: “The car engine was revved up several times. The car lights were on, as was the security light at the property.
“The vehicle then reversed quickly out of its parking spot, and onto the road.”
Jurors heard the car moved back by about three houses before Marc came and stood on the road in front of it.
Neighbour Linda Rumsey told police: “The car revved forward at speed towards my neighbour, my neighbour (Marc Allen) didn’t move out the way, he stood in the road.
“I think he thought the car was going to stop, but I could see he wasn’t going to stop. The car drove forward at speed and hit my neighbour.
“I think it was the middle of the car bonnet which hit his body, he went up onto the bonnet and over the roof.
“He slid down the back of the boot and his head went bang when it hit the floor, I heard his head crack, it sent a shiver through me.
“Whoever was in that car was intent on taking it, nothing was going to stop him.”
The court heard after allegedly hitting Marc, Woodger then sped off – leaving the dad gravely injured in the road.
Mr Orchard added: “The prosecution case is the Mercedes vehicle being stolen was used deliberately as a weapon to facilitate the escape of the thief, this defendant.”
Woodger, of Abbey Wood, denies murder and robbery.
The trial continues.

Boy, 7, fighting for life after crocodile rips arm off while he was playing just a few feet from parents on fishing trip
A SEVEN-year-old boy’s arm was ripped off in a horrific crocodile attack – which left him fighting for his life.
Johandre Blom was attacked while playing in the water at the Roodekoppies Dam, located on Crocodile River in Brits, South Africa.

The brutal attack, which took place on March 21, occurred when young Johandre was playing in the water with his pal.
His parents were fishing just a few feet away when he was attacked by the large reptile.
His nine-year-old friend, Dylan, reportedly screamed and tried to help the younger boy.
The victim’s father, named as Corne, was sitting with the older boy’s father, Jannie Bekker.
Bekker told local media: “The next moment my little boy screamed.
“I saw him grab Johandre by the arm, but there was a big jerk and then Johandre was away from Dylan.
“Dylan shouted, ‘there’s a crocodile here’, and Corne and I immediately ran to the water.”

CBB star defends Love Island’s Whitney as she’s forced to QUIT social media over Inside 2 backlash
A CELEBRITY Big Brother star has jumped to Whitney Adebayo’s defence after she was cruelly trolled during her time on Netflix show Inside 2.
The Love Island star was forced to quit social media after receiving a barrage of shocking racist messages and death threats after the reality show aired.

Whitney appeared on the Sidemen’s Netflix show alongside the likes of TikTok star Millie Jo McLoughlin, podcaster Mandi Vakili and rapper DDG.
Whitney, who was a runner up on Love Island alongside Lochan Nowacki, was forced to quit social media after a clip surfaced online.
The video which went viral on TikTok saw her laughing at her co-star Patrice Evra at the show’s reunion.
French former pro footballer Patrice was heard responding to some questions asked by an interviewer.
But midway through, Whitney burst out laughing.
The host asked: “Why you guys laughing?” to which Patrice responded: “Every time I laugh, even when I’m serious, they’re laughing, especially Whitney.”
Much to the shock of her co-stars, Whitney said: “Cause his English is amazing.”
Patrice looked shocked and let out an: “Oh,” and her co-stars watched on in disbelief.
Many fans had a lot to say after the incident, branding Whitney ‘disrespectful’.
In response, she shared five different screenshots from viewers of Inside who had chosen to send her horrific messages, including many filled with racial slurs.
The Sun has chosen not to repeat any of the horrific messages.
The TV personality went onto address the racism in a lengthy post.
Now, Celebrity Big Brother star Zeze Millz has taken to X (formerly Twitter) to defend Whitney.
In one tweet, she penned: “The same behaviour you’ll get ridiculed for others won’t. We see it time and time again. Death threats? Racist slurs? For whatttt?
“Also very interesting how only Whitney seems to getting called names? Wonder why that is? Anyway. I always say this… Black women when you go on these reality shows understand what could come with it. You won’t get grace.” she added.
TV personality Zeze suffered her own backlash on CBB last year after she clashed with Love Island’s Ekin-Su.
Following her stint on the show, Zeze was branded “nasty and judgmental” for her comments towards the All stars contestant.
Zeze called Love Island a “free holiday” to which Ekin-Su replied: “Yeah well it wasn’t really for me.
“It’s a reality show filmed 24/7 honey you only see 40 minutes of it.”
It prompted Zeze to reply: “That’s what I said, maybe we don’t see all of it.”
Ekin-Su agreed: “Yeah, you didn’t” Zeze has the final word, hitting back: “That’s what I just said!”
The overwhelming majority of fans backed Ekin after the clash slamming the CBB star.
One user said: “Zeze always wants the last word…girl ily but pls just back down when you’re wrong.”
Another went onto add: “Wow Zeze coming across nasty and judgemental.”
As a third staunchly defended TV icon Ekin-Su, writing: “Ekin Su went through a lot in that love island villa especially with how the men in that season was.”

Renee & Andrew McRae murder cops scour A9 site after discovery of child’s potty & rolled up carpet
MURDER cops searching for the final resting place of Renee MacRae and her toddler son, Andrew, have uncovered new evidence near to the spot where they were last seen almost 50 years ago.
Detectives removed a child‘s potty and a length of rolled-up carpet found about a mile south of the A9 Dalmagarry layby, where Renee’s car was discovered ablaze on November 12, 1976.

The items were uncovered by road workers during excavation and tree felling work carried out by Balfour Beatty, reports the Inverness Courier.
Local reports said the police had the contractors working between Tomatin and Invereen junctions to be on the lookout for specific items that might lead to solving the decades-old mystery of where the tragic pair’s bodies have been hidden.
It is claimed the list provided to workers during a routine morning briefing included a suitcase, pushchair, coat, and a yellow child’s potty.
Construction workers on the £185million Transport Scotland A9 dualling project found the items – the yellow potty and a length of carpet – in dense undergrowth on March 13.
A source told the Inverness Courier: “Police Scotland visited the site a couple of weeks ago to remind the workforce that the Renee and Andrew MacRae murder case is still an ongoing investigation.
“Right now, there’s work being done on the A9, about a quarter of a mile from Dalmagarry Quarry. The police email was read out to all the road crew during their morning briefing.
“Three or four days later, some of the workers found a child’s potty.
“The potty had a yellow base. Police officers later arrived and removed the potty and a piece of rolled-up carpet.
“Keep in mind, much of the site has been overgrown for many years.
“All the trees are being lifted, and there’s a lot of digging and clearing work happening.
“The potty and carpet were in thick undergrowth, not buried as far as I know. The carpet was rolled up.”
We told how William MacDowell, 80, was convicted of killing mum-of-two Renee, 36, and Andrew, 3, in November 1976, and attempting to conceal their bodies.
He died behind bars five months after being sentenced to life in prison in September 2022.
Despite his conviction, the bodies of Renee and Andrew have never been found, and police repeatedly urged MacDowell to reveal their location so they can be given “the dignity they deserve.”
However, MacDowell took the secret with him to the grave.
The fresh evidence site, now protected by temporary red and white fencing, is about a mile from where Renee’s torched BMW was discovered on the night of their disappearance.

The discovery is mere miles from earlier search locations, reigniting interest in the extensive efforts to find their bodies undertaken decades prior.
In 1977, a nearby quarry at Dalmagarry was drained and searched after a young officer reported an unusual smell at the site.
However, funds for the search were exhausted before any results could be found.
That same summer, Italian divers – who were in Scotland to search for the Loch Ness Monster- joined the effort by diving in the abandoned Leanach quarry.
Police praised the volunteers for performing dangerous work, as the water was considered a fly-tipping hotspot by locals.
But by November 1977, the operation, which had once involved 100 officers, was scaled back to a team of just ten.
Dalmagarry Quarry was excavated again in 2004 after the case had gone cold in 1979.
Over 35,000 tonnes of earth were removed, along with 2,000 trees, at a cost exceeding £100,000.
In October 2018, on what would have been Andrew’s 45th birthday, police made a new appeal for help, releasing an image of the pram his mother used to push him in as a baby.

The same month saw Leanach Quarry drained of an estimated 13 million litres of water, and over 100,000 tonnes of earth, silt, and other materials were removed.
Investigators discovered 50 vehicles dumped at the site, and parts of a pram found there were sent for forensic examination.
One year later, MacDowell was arrested and appeared at Inverness Sheriff Court, denying he killed the mother and son.
The court had heard how Mrs MacRae, who was separated from her husband, had been having an affair with married MacDowell at the time she and Andrew disappeared.
The motive for murder, prosecutor Alex Prentice KC suggested, was that Mrs MacRae was becoming demanding about Mr MacDowell leaving his life.

Evil MacDowell was later convicted after trial and sentenced to 30 years but died behind bars without revealing the location of Renee and Andrew McRae’s final resting place.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “On Thursday, 13 March, 2025, officers attended the A9 near Dalmagarry after an item was recovered.
“The item is being examined and further enquiries are ongoing.”
Balfour Beatty have been approached for comment.
