Ireland to be hotter than Spain as ‘high pressure to remain close to country’ with 17C heat as best days revealed
IRELAND is set to be hotter than Spain over the coming days as high pressure is to remain “close” to the country.
Temperatures will hit 17C next week as spring starts to come into full bloom.

And Ireland will become hotter than the whole country of Spain by Wednesday.
The average temperature for Spain on Wednesday will range between 13 and 15C.
However, the weather for the weekend will remain unsettled before dry weather kicks off for the week.
Met Eireann’s Mark Rollback revealed that the country will be “seeing high pressure” that will dominate the weather over the next couple of days, bringing in mostly settled weather spells.
He said: “We are seeing a high pressure moving over the country.
“That’s going to actually dominate the weather over the next couple of days. Indeed, over much of the next week. So we’re in for a spell of mostly settled weather.
“Most of the weather fronts will be held at bay, off in the Atlantic, so they won’t really move over the country as such.
“So we will see some sprinkles of rain and drizzle at times, particularly for Western counties. But overall, at least for the first half of next week, it should stay rather settled.”
The weather boffin confirmed that Ireland will see little rain next week as the high pressure will bring in dry spells and warm temperatures.
WEEKEND FORECAST
However, the weekend will remain miserable before the huge weather switch kicks off.
For today’s weather forecast, it is cloudy with outbreaks of rain and drizzle, which will turn a little patchy later this afternoon, but drier and brighter conditions will be developing from the west by evening.
It will be breezy with moderate to fresh southwesterly winds and the highest temperatures of 11 to 15 degrees before it drops to 8 to 4 degrees during the night.
Tomorrow is set to be dry with spells of sunshine, but cloudy spells will be developing in the southwest with isolated light showers, which will build across the western half of the country throughout the evening.
Temperatures will see highs of 12 to 16 degrees in light to moderate northwesterly winds before dropping to 5 to 9 degrees, with some mist and fog developing.
‘SETTLED WEATHER’
Meteorologist Ifa Kealy added that the high pressure is going to bring plenty of settled weather next week.
She said: “Monday is going to be quite cloudy with just a few sunny spells and isolated showers.
“But Tuesday, it’s going to be much brighter with plenty of sunshine. And Wednesday and Thursday will both be dry and quite sunny days.
“Temperatures are going to creep up through the week too, reaching the high teens in the west and midlands by week’s end.”
Wednesday is set to be another dry and sunny day, with highest temperatures ranging from 13 to 17 degrees.
However, it may be a little cooler near eastern and southern coasts in a light to moderate southeasterly breeze.
