Why do Aldi and Lidl have such fast checkouts
IF you’ve ever shopped in Aldi or Lidl then you’ll probably have experienced its ultra-fast checkout staff.
Aldi’s speedy reputation is no mistake, in fact, the supermarket claims that its tills are 40 per cent quicker than rivals.
It’s all part of Aldi’s plan to be as efficient as possible – and this, the budget shop claims, helps keep costs low for shoppers.
Efficient barcodes on packaging means staff are able to scan items as quickly as possible, with the majority of products having multiple barcodes to speed up the process.
It also uses “shelf-ready” packaging which keeps costs low when it comes to replenishing stock.
Also at just 99p, there’s the Livarno Home Small Paper Honeycomb Eggs, which come in a pack of eight and will bring Easter vibes into your home in an instant.

Galway secure spot in camogie Division 1A final after impressive win over fellow finalists Cork
CARRIE DOLAN shone as Galway sealed their place in the Very Camogie Division 1A final with a win over Cork.
The Tribes were 0-19 to 0-13 victors at Páirc Uí Chaoimh — and they will meet the Leesiders again in the final at Semple Stadium in a fortnight.
There was nothing at stake for Cork yesterday with Amy O’Connor — who was making her first start of the year — scoring four points.
But Dolan’s haul of 0-10 will be a worry for the Rebels ahead of the league decider, while Ailish O’Reilly slotted over four points.
Tipperary needed Galway to slip up to sneak into second but the Premier County did not keep up their end of the bargain as they lost by a point to Waterford at Walsh Park.
The Déise were 0-10 to 0-9 winners as Eimear O’Neill scored three points.
And it was her late double that won it for the hosts — scoring in the 60th and 64th minutes.
At the bottom of the table, Dublin dropped to Division 1B after slumping to defeat by Kilkenny at Parnell Park.
The Cats beat the Sky Blues 2-16 to 0-14, with Laura Murphy registering 2-8.
In the Division 1B final, Antrim ran out 3-10 to 1-11 winners over Clare in Abbotstown.
Caitrin Dobbin scored 2-1, while Katie Molloy contributed 1-1.
Ziyan Spillane was the most prolific shooter for the Banner with five points.
