Anticipation has been building on social media, with hundreds inquiring about the specific time they will be released.

Users warned the supermarket to be “ready for a rampage” and that there may be “tears” if they sold out too quickly.

A queue snaked outside the Gosport, Hampshire outlet at 8am with punters eagerly waiting for the sliding doors to open.

Most headed straight for the middle aisle, home to the specialist food section, where they picked up their bars.

Poppy and Archie Nelson, 11 and seven, respectively,  were so excited that they got up at 5.30am to make sure they got there before the luxurious bars sold out.

She said: “I’ve been seeing it all over the internet, and it looks really yummy.

“I’ve been to Dubai before and seen it made, and I think it would be cool to eat Dubai chocolate.

“They are restricting it to two a person, and they’ve sold a box already.”

Waitrose also had to impose a two-bar limit due to the popularity of the product despite their version costing a tenner.

Comparatively, the Lindt version costs just £3.99 with a Lidl plus card and £4.99 without.

Indisputably the most affordable bar on the market, it is nearly three times cheaper than some big-name alternatives.

The bar features a creamy pistachio centre inspired by Knafeh, an Arabic dessert made from fine pastry and nuts.

It is then cased in unctuous milk chocolate, creating the ultimate balance of smooth and crunchy.

Tik-tokkers rushed to rate Lidl’s budget offering, raving about the quality, especially given the price.

One remarked: “Silky baby, silky, it’s got even more filling than the Lindt version.”

Another said: “It’s got the crunch; this is really good for 3.99, such a luxurious bargain!”

A food influencer, Angelina, said: “The chocolate itself is very hazlenutty, with more crispiness in the knafeh.

“Definitely a hit- not quite as amazing as the Lindt version at half the price, hey ho!.

“It’s a solid 9 out of 10.”

Lidl replied: “Well that thanks!”
