Fans have took to social media to express their concerns about Pearse StadiumA Steward heads for shelter during the Allianz Football League Division 1 match between Galway and Donegal at Pearse Stadium
The wind caused chaos, and Galway took full advantage to all but kill the game at the break as Shane Walsh starred in the NFL clash.
But the ground’s state has reignited discussions about the venue’s suitability for inter-county games, particularly due to its notorious wind conditions.
Fans have taken to social media to express their concerns, especially with the wind at the stadium.
One posted: “Salthill shouldn’t be an inter-county football venue. The wind makes a mockery of every game played there.”
Another suggested: “Salthill seems to be the issue. Galway should be banned from playing at home until they can sort out the weather.”
While a third posted: “There should be no games played in Salthill.
“It’s a joke of a pitch, a howling wind even on a summer’s day… Today’s game was a farce.”
These fans sentiments were echoed by Donegal’s manager, Jim McGuinness, who acknowledged the impact of the conditions on his team’s performance after his side’s defeat.
He said: “Galway played the elements far better than us.
“We didn’t play the elements well at all.”
The regular complaints about Pearse Stadium have led to calls for the GAA to reconsider hosting inter-county matches at the venue.
Especially during times of the year prone to adverse weather conditions.
