JAMIE CARRAGHER was shut down by both Daniel Sturridge and Micah Richards after disregarding the Africa Cup of Nations as a major tournament.
The trio were covering Liverpool’s 2-0 win over Manchester City on Sky Sports when the topic of conversation turned to Mohamed Salah.
Debating whether or not he could win any individual awards – such as the Ballon d’Or – and become “the best in the world” this season, Carragher suggested there was one obstacle stopping him.
The ex-defender claimed that Salah would have to win a major tournament with Egypt in order to be in the running.
He said: “I think the problem (is) the fact he’s with Egypt, and he’s probably not playing in the major tournament as such, or maybe got a great chance of winning, I think it’s either the Champions League or the major tournament.
“Normally, the player who excels in that, like Vini Jr and (Kylian) Mbappe right now, Real Madrid looking really good going for the Champions League.
“Liverpool will be in that conversation, but right now (Real Madrid) are certainly the front runner.”
Richards quickly chimed in to say: “Just saying, AFCON is a major tournament. Just so you know.”
But Carragher responded: “Egypt aren’t going to win the World Cup, are they?”
Richards reiterated his point, but the ex-Liverpool man appeared to disregard it before Sturridge joined in the conversation.

“It’s a fact. It’s a fact. If you win the Euros or the Copa America it’s deemed to be big so the AFCON is the same level,” the ex-striker said.
Carragher also received some backlash on social media, with one person writing: “The disrespect AFCON gets within pundits and even fans is disgusting. Equivalent of Euro/Copa America and these people are treating it like it’s the Carabao Cup. Nasty work from Jamie Carragher!”
Another commented: “It’s the scoff, for me, when he is corrected. It’s just awful.”
A third said: “I like the way both Daniel Sturridge & Micah Richards correct Carragher here. They don’t hesitate to provide him with the correct information.”
SunSport has contacted Sky for comment.
Salah scored the opening goal as Liverpool beat Man City 2-0 at the Etihad Stadium.
Dominik Szoboszlai netted the second to secure the win and boost the club’s title hopes.

A medical emergency has caused delays on a busy service headed for Dublin this morning.
Enterprise Train, who run services between Dublin and Belfast, alerted passengers to the delays after a person onboard became ill.

“Apologies for any inconvenience caused.“
And Irish Rail are also facing some issues this morning.

These include:

Not only will bargain hunters be thrilled to spot a stunning setting spray, but there’s even a gorgeous face cream too.
And fear not if you’re on a tight budget, as these brilliant buys are super affordable – and you’ll be shocked at how much cheaper they are compared with the real deal products.
The new Body Stories range has a number of copycat products, but you’ll need to move fast to nab them.
One happy shopper was left thrilled with her high-street finds and eagerly took to social media to alert others, leaving many open-mouthed.
Posting on Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK, a private Facebook group with 2.6 million members, Amanda Bowden uploaded a snap of her new purse-friendly products and wrote: “Charlotte Tilbury dupes in Poundland.”
Not only did Amanda get her hands on the Revitalise Cream, but she also nabbed an Eye Serum and a Setting Spray too.
The Body Stories Revitalise Face Cream costs just £1 – and is a dupe for Charlotte Tilbury’s cult-loved Magic Cream which has an eye-watering price tag of £195.
Poundland bosses have dubbed it “the perfect daily moisturiser” and claimed: “This cream formula is luxuriously rich and non-greasy.”
Not only this, but according to the chain, this affordable find, which is £194 cheaper than her famous cream, is “infused with hyaluronic acid, shea butter and vitamin C, which are known to deeply moisturise and soften the skin.”
Also priced at just £1 is the Body Stories Cooling Eye Serum.
This is a dupe for the £47 Cryo-Recovery Eye Serum by Charlotte Tilbury, saving shoppers a whopping £44.50.
According to Poundland bosses, you can “say goodbye to tired eyes”, as “this Cooling Eye Serum will help to soothe and refresh your under eye.”
Not only this, but thanks to the cooling metal applicator, you can target puffiness in no time at all.
As well as this, it is infused with caffeine, which is known to help improve the appearance of dark circles and brighten.

“A huge 55% of us would like to spend less on our beauty routines according to new research from E.l.f. Cosmetics, so it’s no wonder there’s millions of #dupe videos on Tiktok.
“While some dupes are easy to spot given their look-a-like packing, they’re often lacking when it comes to the contents.
“In fact, some of the best dupes look nothing like the luxury product they’re a dead-ringer for – and, trust me, they’re the ones you want.”
REAL: Benefit Hoola Matte Bronzer, £32.50 DUPE: Natural Collection Bronzer, £3.50 which is a saving of £29. The Natural Collection Bronzer comes in more shades, although it doesn’t have a mirror in the compact.
REAL: Milk Make-up Hydro-Grip Primer, £35 DUPE: E.l.f. Power Grip Primer, £10. These two share a similar green hue, as well as the same long-wearing, mattifying properties – although, E.l.f’s is so popular it’s just as hard to get hold of.
REAL: Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk Lipstick, £28 DUPE: L’Oreal Paris Color Riche Satin Lipstick Beige A Nu, £8.99. The shades of these two lipsticks are virtually identical on the lips, although while Charlotte Tilbury’s is matte, the L’Oreal Paris Lipstick has a satin finish – which actually makes it more comfortable if you’re wearing all day.
REAL: Estée Lauder Double Wear Foundation, £40 DUPE: Collection Lasting Perfection Matte Foundation, £6.99. While they don’t look alike from the outside, the formula, consistency and staying power of both foundations is pretty similar – unfortunately, the Collection only comes in 20 shades vs Estee Lauder’s 60 options.
REAL: Glossier Boy Brow, £20 DUPE: Essence Make Me Brow Gel, £2.50. There’s a whole Reddit thread dedicated to this dupe, so you know it’s got to be good. They both have a waxy consistency and added fibres to make brows look fuller. I have to say, the shade range is far better with Boy Brow, but if you’re brunette, there’s plenty of Essence shade options to try.
If that wasn’t enough, to further enhance your make-up routine, shoppers will also be able to get their hands on the Body Stories Set N Spray Setting Spray, which is just £2.
Not only is it £30 cheaper than the iconic Airbrush Flawless Setting Spray that beauty fans around the country love, but according to Poundland bosses, it will ensure you get that “flawless finish”.
Thanks to this lightweight product, which is infused with Aloe Vera, it helps to hydrate your skin and seal your make-up in place.
Amanda’s Facebook post has clearly impressed many, as it has quickly racked up over 110 likes.
Beauty fans were left beaming with the dupe buys and many were eager to share their thoughts in the comments.

GEORDIE Shore star Abbie Holborn has broken her silence for the first time on her secret romance with a former TOWIE star.
Abbie, 27, has been secretly romancing Jack Rigden since the end of last year and has so far kept coy on the relationship.
Jack appeared on the ITVBe reality show for two series in 2017 but has since stepped out of the spotlight whilst Abbie has become a reality TV success story after joining the cast of MTV show Geordie Shore in 2017 where she still remains to this day.
In her first interview about her new-found love with The Sun, Abbie has confessed she is happier than ever with Jack and has even suggested she is likely to upsticks and leave the North East for good to move in with Jack in his native Essex.
Abbie told The Sun: “Things are going really good and I’m finally really happy.”
The pair first met years ago and initially started off as friends but it eventually grew into something more with Abbie admitting Jack had always “had a thing” for her.
She revealed: “So we actually met, obviously, when Sophie [Kaseai] and Jordan [Brook] got together because he’s Jordan’s best friend. So we’ve actually known each other for about two years.
“We’ve just been friends. And then it kind of at the back end of last year, really just grew into something more.
“I think I really like the fact that we’re friends first as well.
“He’s always said he’s had a bit of a soft spot for me and he would always compliment me, but I always just thought like, you know, he’s just being nice.”
Abbie laughed as she said: “We’ve always had a little bit of a flirty kind of friendship but yeah after a couple of drinks it became more and then it was just – was one of them!”
Although the pair are officially boyfriend and girlfriend, Abbie revealed there was no grand over-the-top gesture with Jack opting to keep asking the question more simple and low-key.
But for Abbie, she admitted that their connection came at the perfect time after years of bad dates as she opened up on why Jack was “the one”.
The reality TV stunner confessed: “It’s such a complex feeling. I think people say when you know that it’s the one it’s like you just feel safe.
You feel at peace.
“There’s no stress. There’s no anxiety.
“I think when you’re kind of dating, I think it’s just horrendous.
“Like I’ve always kind of hated dating and never really gone on dates.
“I think I went through a whole process of being a bit of a man hater and just thinking that all men are the same and I just did not want to go on dates and I just wasn’t bothered.
“Everyone used to always say to me because I think I did want to have a boyfriend and everyone would say it’ll happen when you least expect it.
“I used to say if one more person tells me it’s going to happen when I least expect it then I’m going to punch them clean in the face.
“I was sick to death of hearing that, it becomes all you hear and I was like I can’t bear it.
“But then actually I was like, they were right, like it really, really was unexpected.”
But whilst it is still early days for the couple, Abbie admitted that a move to live with Jack in Essex looked likely in the future.
Much of Abbie’s work is based in London and hers and Jack’s best pals Sophie and Jordan live there – making a potential relocation a no brainer.
Abbie told The Sun: “I would definitely consider [a move] in the future.
“It’s funny because even though I travel so much and I am always away from home, I’ve never actually left the nest or left my family home so it would be a big deal to eventually move.
“But I’ve got all my friends down there and work’s down there so I think it probably, you know, would be something in the future, for sure.”
A GROUNDBREAKING new Apple feature has finally landed in the UK, months after its US launch.
If you have a pair of AirPods Pro 2 earbuds, then you will have today gained a free clinical-grade, over-the-counter hearing aid.
The new feature lets consumers use their AirPods like they would a hearing aid they receive from the doctor.
Tens of thousands of people in the UK stand to benefit.
Around a third of adults in the UK are deaf or experience hearing loss or tinnitus.
AirPods users in the US have had the full hearing aid feature since it launched in October last year.
Brits have been limited to hearing tests only, but can now use these tests to enable the hearing aid feature thanks to recent regulatory approval.
The UK can be a powerhouse for medical technology if we “rip out pointless regulation that suffocates innovation,” Health and Social Care Secretary, Wes Streeting, said last month over the change in regulation.
He added: “The action we’re taking will give businesses the green light to start selling these products to patients across the UK.”
Users can take a five-minute test to build a personalised hearing profile, which lets their AirPods make adjustments to their sound environment.
It boosts sounds, like talking, music, movies, and phone calls, in real time.
Though it doesn’t just make certain noises louder.
There is also a Loud Sound Reduction feature that helps users prevent exposure to potentially harmful sounds.
This could be used in, say, a rock concert, where you want to hear the music without taking home any ear-ringing effects.
To access the hearing aid feature, owners of the AirPods Pro 2 must update their earbuds with the latest software update.
Simply follow these steps:
Apple notes that if you’re struggling to update your firmware, reset your AirPods, then try to update your firmware again.
Here are official signs of hearing loss from the UK's National Health Service...
“At Apple, we believe that technology can help people live healthier lives,” Sumbul Desai, managing director of Apple’s vice president of Health, said in a statement.
“And we’re delighted to bring the Hearing Aid feature to the UK, offering our users an end-to-end hearing health experience with AirPods Pro 2.”
The Sun’s Head of Technology and Science, Sean Keach, has already tried out the hearing test from across the pond.
It’s important to find a quiet room – as even footsteps, or the low-hum of an air-conditioning unit can disrupt the test, he says.
THERE are numerous places you can go to for a hearing test - from high-street stores to private practices. Here's our rundown of some of the most popular ones.
Your GP
Your doctor is a good first point of call if you are worried about your hearing. They can offer advice on where to go, but can also do some more tests to see if anything else is going on that’s causing hearing loss.
Specsavers
While they’re most well known for their optical services, Specsavers also do hearing tests. They are also completely free for anyone over 18 years of age. You can check out descriptions of some common ear conditions, as well as booking your test, here.
Boots
Another high-street favourite that offers free, 15-minute hearing assessments. Again, they suggest visiting the GP to rule out any other underlying health conditions. But if you’ve done that and still want to get your hearing checked, visit the Boots website.
Hidden Hearing
Hidden Hearing has hundreds of clinics all over the country, and offers customers a full consultation with a hearing care professional. It also provides the opportunity to try a hearing aid for 60 risk-free days. To find a clinic near you, click here.
