LOVE Island secrets are set to be exposed in a tell-all book that will lift the lid on the show’s villa scandals.
Over the years, the reality dating show has been hit with controversy and now fans will discover what really happens behind-the-scenes and when the camera stops rolling.
US publishing house Simon and Schuster are working on a new book about Love Island, which will feature interviews from a number cast and crew, including UK stars.
It is being written by a Contributing Editor at Vanity Fair called Anna Peele, who has previously written pieces on the popular reality show.
A source said: “This book is set to be an explosive read.
“It’s nothing to do with ITV, so it won’t be an official tie-in where everything is positive and PR-friendly.
“It will be a warts-and-all look at one of the biggest reality phenomena of all time, written by a proper investigative journalist so it won’t pull any punches.”
The book will take a deep dive into the darker parts of the reality show – including some of the tragedies linked to the programme, including the deaths of contestants Mike Thalassitis and Sophie Gradon.
Sophie died by suicide in June 2018, two years after taking part in the second series of the programme.
The following March, Mike Thalassiti, who had been in the third series, also took his life.
Then in February 2020, Caroline Flack, the show’s host of five series, also died by suicide.
The source continued: “As well as celebrating the shows highs, it will examine all the controversies, scandals and tragedies that have followed the series too.”
They have also collected first hand accounts from former Islanders who have experienced life in and out of the villa first-hand.
“The writer has spoken to lots of cast and crew about their experiences on the show, how its shaped them and the relationships they formed in the villa,” they added.
“It’s sure to fly off the shelves when it comes out later this year.”
The Sun has contacted ITV for comment.
The latest series of Love Island came to an end last month with Gabby Allen and Casey O’Gorman being crowned winners of All Stars.
The next series is set to return to our screens later this year with a new batch of singletons looking for love.
The biggest earners from the ITV2 show always seem to be the females, with the likes of Olivia Attwood and Molly-Mae Hague being two of the most successful stars, followed by Maura Higgins.
