New start-up airline launching flights this year reveals plans for ‘100-destination network’ which includes the UK

START up airline Riyadh Air has revealed the latest plans to have an ‘100-destination’ global network of flight routes around the world.

The new airline has taken the next step in launching flights after being granted an Air Operator Certificate (AOC) which allows them to have commercial operations.

Planning to start flights by the end of this year – after being forced to delay the original start date of early 2025 – the airline’s CEO Tony Douglas said the airline launch was “very real”.

A test flight has already taken place from Riyadh to Istanbul last month, with official routes to be announced later this year.

The future plans include flights to more than 100 destinations by 2030, adding two new destinations a month.

This lines up with the Saudi Arabia Vision 2030 which wants to attract 150million visitors a year.

And the UK is one of them, with flights likely to launch from London Heathrow to Riyadh.

Mr Douglas – who was previously CEO of Etihad Airways – said: “We’re not going public with the full list until we’ve got all the slots.

“But Western Europe is essential. We’re desperately keen to get access to Heathrow.”

First announced in 2023, the Mr Douglas added to Executive Traveller last year: “We’ll launch with three airplanes flying from Riyadh to let’s say ‘European capital A’ and back.

“Then the airplane will turn around and do a shorter leg on thick routes within the region – to Jeddah, for example.”

“It will then come back to Riyadh, turn around and then do ‘European city B’, and so on.”

An order for 39 Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners has been confirmed, with options for another 33.

The airline has already revealed the plans for it’s onboard classes, including sliding doors in business class.

And the premium economy will be “more like business” although won’t have lie flat seats.

Economy flights will have 13.3″ screens and USB-C charging ports.

However, don’t expect booze onboard – it is unlikely to be served due to the strict alcohol laws in Saudi Arabia (it has been banned since 1952).

But the airline is wanting to become a “digital-first” airline and said they could even see boarding passes scrapped in favour of biometric tech.

Mr Douglas added: “What we’ve designed is something that’s got more in common with Uber and Amazon.”

Riyadh Air launch timeline

October 2024 – Order of 60 Airbus A321neo confirmed

January 2025 – First test flight conducted and airline awarded AOC

Late 2025 – Airline launches test flight, with official launch later this year

The airline will be based at King Salman International Airport which is set to become the world’s biggest.

Opening in 2030, the airport will have six runways and an 120million passenger capacity.

She stripped down into a pair of black lace hipsters and a matching bra, before popping on the white set.

The podcaster made said her bras were “double padded again”, which she finds are “essential”.

The popular presenter’s friends and fans all loved her fashion video and raced to the comment section with compliments.

RTE star Maia Dunphy wrote: “Love them all! And the D cups!”

Amanda commented: “You BABE!”

Danielle remarked: “You look amazing what ever you wearing.”

Marie added: “Always flawless.”

Vogue and her reality star hubby Spencer Matthews are renowned for poking fun at each other online – and Vogue took it to the next level recently.

Her autobiography titled Big Mouth is being released soon – and she’s leaving no stone unturned.

STINKY SPEN

But before the highly-anticipated release, the 39-year-old decided to have some fun with her family members, who have yet to see a finished draft.

In a hilarious clip posted to her Instagram, Vogue read a fake excerpt from the book to Spencer.

Vogue prepped her husband before reading the paragraph aloud saying: “Please don’t be annoyed, it’s meant to be funny.”

Spencer sighed: “Oh god what is it?”

The Dublin model then began to read: “Spen is a great guy, but had really bad problems with body odour when we met, I thought it was just his armpits, but it was just his body in general.

“He also used to have snots all over his face and it was pretty grim but I love him regardless.”

Spencer immediately stood up in shock and voiced his fears that newspapers in the UK would write articles headlined: “Vogue Williams says Spencer Matthews stinks.”

The five-year-old was taken to the Midland Regional Hospital in Portlaoise but was pronounced dead a short time later, while a woman in her 40s, who was driving the car involved in the collision, was not injured.

Aaron was a junior infants pupil in the Educate Together school in Portlaoise and the son of Tauqir Hussain, who is involved in a local barber shop, and Irina Novikova who runs a beauty studio.

The family have been living in the area several years.

Ahead of his funeral, which is understood to be on Friday February 28, Irina has paid tribute to her “little Aaron” and thanked those who have been supporting the family through this “unimaginable time”.

“We cannot express how much it means to us during this unimaginable time.

“It’s hard to believe how many lives our little Aaron touched in his five beautiful years.

“He was a child full of joy, kindness, and a heart bigger than words can describe.

“Though we are unable to respond to each of you, please know we see and feel your love.

“Thank you for holding us in your hearts as we try to navigate this heartbreaking reality.”

Friends rushed to comfort the grieving mother, paying their own tributes to Aaron.
