Irish Rail passengers say ‘who is this diva?’ as train driver praised for special message during morning commute
IRISH Rail passengers have praised a train driver for his special message on a morning commute.
The train driver appeared to be in a very good mood on a recent journey, spreading it to the other passengers.
One commuter shared a short video on social media showing what happened on the train.
TikTok user Ami Hawkins shared a short video to the platform for her followers.
In the caption of the post, she said: “@Iarnród Éireann who is this diva?”
In the video, the train driver can be heard delivering a special message over the speakers.
He shared a surprisingly motivating sentiment in his announcement, saying: “I would like to thank you for travelling with us this morning.
“I hope you have a fantastic day.
“Remember ladies and gentlemen, this life is for living and enjoying, so as long as you’re doing what you want to do, it’s not hurting anybody, you are having fun – who cares what anyone else thinks?”
He concluded the announcement by saying: “Thanks for your attention and have an absolutely smashing day.”
Viewers were left shocked in the comments section, with many questioning why we can’t have that on every service.
One person commented: “My train rarely even says which DIRECTION it’s going.
“Just like hop on and pray (not even on the signs!)”
Another person spoke about the impact it had on passengers.
They said: “Had them on the Dublin Connolly to Sligo train before and it was a joy.
“Brought a smile to so many people, and even started a few conversations between passengers. an absolute gem!!”
Another viewer wrote: “Often on Maynooth to Connolly train, you can see the change in everyone’s face when he shares his little pep talks.”
Someone else said: “We need more people like this in the world.”
One person wrote: “My fav quote of his is “dont slip and fall, its a job not the love of your life it’s not worth falling for.”
Ami replied to this by saying: “I was fuming I didn’t get that part! It made my day”.
The original poster then added: “That’s his Broombridge special.”
Others called for the driver to be appreciated for what he was doing, with someone tagging Irish Rail and saying: “Give him a raise.”
Tennis icon Anna Kournikova sparks major health concerns after being spotted in wheelchair for first time in two years
ANNA KOURNIKOVA has been spotted in a wheelchair while visiting a luxury shopping centre.
The tennis icon has not been seen for two years, having once reached the ranking of no.8 in the world.

She was also wearing an orthopedic boot on one of her feet to suggest a recent injury.
The retired tennis pro was accompanied by her two daughters, Lucy, 7, and Maria, 4, as well as some friends.
They were snapped talking and laughing together in the shopping centre’s car park.
The daughters were both wearing matching outfits of white t-shirts and jeans.
Kournikova retired from playing back in 2003 after a career that saw her win 16 career titles in the doubles game.
Her highest ranking in the doubles game was No.1 in November 1999 after winning the Australian Open alongside Martina Hingis.
During her singles career, she failed to win a single title but did reach the semi-final of Wimbledon in 1997.
She started dating singer-songwriter Enrique Iglesias in 2001 after appearing in his music video for ‘Escape’.
The couple have three children together, including Lucy and Maria, as well as son Nicholas.
The Russian ace also spent time modelling and was voted the world’s sexiest woman back in 2002, beating the likes of Britney Spears and Jennifer Lopez.
She was also recognised as the sexiest female tennis player of all time in 2010.
However, a string of injuries – mostly back problems – led to an early retirement when she was only 21 years old.
Kournikova has lived quietly as she has settled into family life, while Iglesias is a bit more open.
He has spoken about his children and family a bit more openly to the media.
Speaking at the 40 Music Awards, he said: “I’m relaxing at home with the kids, enjoying taking them to school and watching them grow.
“I have twins that are six and a girl who is four, so every day they grow so fast.
“I want to enjoy that. In 24 hours they’re already grown.”

PLANS for the first Universal Studios theme park in the UK are closer than ever.
First revealed in 2023, Universal are hoping to build their first European theme park in the UK.
The town of Bedford will be home first Universal theme park if the plans get the go-ahead[/caption] The plans put forward are for the theme park to be build just outside of Bedford in Kempston Hardwick[/caption]Sign-off said to be imminent with MPs looking at the proposals and a final decision about the site is due to be made very shortly.
With lots of rumours about the Universal theme park that will be the first of its kind in the UK, here’s everything we know so far…
Where is it?
The county of Bedfordshire will be the home of the theme park if plans get the go-ahead.
Universal bought a 450-acre site in Kempston Hardwick just outside of Bedford in December 2023.
Plans described Bedford as an “ideal location” due to its convenient transport links.
Bedford can also be easily reached via London, and with its central location, more than half of the UK population can be there within two hours.
There will also be new transport put in place as tourism in Bedford is bound to increase, including new rail routes to connect towns between Oxford and Cambridge, which are Bedford’s nearest cities.
While there had been talks about whether Bedford was a good site for the company’s very first theme park in Europe, no ‘red flags’ were discovered.
It will hugely benefit locals too as it has been estimated that 8,000 new jobs could be up for grabs. And this could increase within the first 20 years of operation.
What will be in it?
A new site will hold a 500-room hotel, entertainment zone, train station, and plenty of attractions – so there’s lots to look forward to.
At the moment there aren’t many reports on which rides will go into Universal UK, but with the likes of Revenge of the Mummy, Harry Potter and The Simpsons in other parks, there are high expectations.
They also said that the attractions and buildings would be ‘capped at a maximum height’.
The submitted 16-page document from Universal suggested that the Bedford-based theme park would have its own Citywalk.
Also in the plan was a statement that the park would “celebrate” the areas “vibrant history” suggesting more UK celebrated attractions.
When will it open?
As planning is still in the works, there’s no exact time frame we can expect Universal UK to be completed.
But the estimate is that the park won’t be open before 2030 and could take at least six years to build.
Universal Studios Hollywood was the first Universal theme park and opened in 1964[/caption]Where are the other Universal theme parks?
There are only five other theme parks across the globe, with none in Europe at the moment.
Universal so far have opened Universal Orlando Resort, Universal Studios Hollywood, Universal Studios Japan, Universal Beijing Resort and Universal Studios Singapore.
With Universal still waiting on permission, here are some other UK based theme parks to enjoy, like Diggerland and Milky way Adventure Park.
Alton Towers has a pirate takeover week during February half term and there’s Nickelodeon Land at Blackpool Pleasure Beach Resort.
