Love Island fans can’t believe age gap between Elma and Sammy as they cosy up in hideaway

LOVE Island fans say they can’t believe the age gap between Elma Pazar and Sammy Root, after they were seen getting cosy in hideaway.

Sammy and Elma already have a past after they met on the Towie circuit, and were seen reuniting on last night’s All Stars.

The pair were rumoured to be dating in 2023, shortly before it was announced he was joining the cast of Towie.

Last night, Sammy picked Elma to join him in the hideaway, as he made his entrance as the latest bombshell.

The pair were thrilled to see each other and wasted no time in catching up.

They were seen looking smitten with each other, as they sat on the bed together.

However, fans were quick to pick up on the age gap between the pair.

At 32, Elma is nine years older than 23-year-old Sammy.

Taking to X/Twitter, one fan said: “i think sammy and elma could be really sweet together, but it’s just the age gap. the man was 17 when she was first on love island I can’t!”

While another added: “Isn’t Elma and Sammy age gap near 10 years? I guess age gaps don’t bother her too much.”

This one chimed in: “I’ve seen a lot of people say sammy and elma because they were on towie together?

“Mind you, he was 17 when elma first went on love island. we need an age restriction of like 25 because that’s insane.”

Meanwhile, before going into the villa, Sammy hinted that a romance with Elma was on the cards.

It came about after he was asked how he felt about seeing some familiar faces.

He replied: “For the people I have met before, I’m excited to see them again, but who knows – it could be fun or it might be awkward.”

Sammy, who split from Jess Harding just three months after they won the 2023 series, revealed what he is now looking for.

He said: “Previously I put a lot on looks whereas now I think it’s more important to focus on personality.

“I just want someone that’s outgoing, adventurous, happy and just a jolly person that I can have fun with.”

Speaking about his biggest red flags, Sammy said: “I’m not a fan of uptight people, I want someone who doesn’t care about what others think and just wants to have fun.”

ITV2 bosses put Sammy in the villa at just the right time for him to rekindle early flames with Elma.

A source said: “Elma has said the attraction with Sammy was nothing more than flirtation as she’s conscious they have an age gap of nearly 10 years, but Love Island execs hope under the South African sun, love could bloom.

“Sammy is pals with a few of the lads too including Casey and Ron so will slot right in.

“He’s All Stars’ second winner too, joining Ekin in that accolade.”.

Love Island All Stars continues at 9pm on ITV2.

Love Island All Stars 2025 official line-up

Love Island All Stars is back on TV for season 2.

Here we take you through the line-up of all the Islanders who are in the villa so far.

My wife made her own clever clothes rail gadget that takes up NO space & didn’t cost us a penny – it’s easy if with kids

WHETHER you have a small home or can’t use your garden due to the Baltic weather, no one likes the sight of their washing on display.

But one cleaning enthusiast has just the trick, and it means that no space will be taken up when hanging your clothes.

It’s difficult to get your clothes dry in the current weather conditions in the UK[/caption]

The woman, who is known as ‘thesimpsonthree’ on TikTok, shared a video on her social media page, and people are loving it.

She explained that her wife invented the “natty little gadget” which hangs just above her banister.

The cleaning fan explained: “So she took the side of a cot and put it over the bannister in that bit of stairs that no one uses.

“And then, voilà! It is an indoor clothes rail.

“We use it literally all the time throughout winter.

“We haven’t got those annoying clothes horses.”

“We can use this. It’s fantastic.”

The TikToker created the device by using the side of a baby cot, which has wooden bed guards to prevent the child from getting out.

She then balanced it across the bannister so it is out of the way but allows you to hang clothes from it.

Her video gained a lot of attention with many people rushing to the comments section to share their thoughts.

One wrote: “Simple but effective.”

A second commented: “That’s great and the house will smell nice too.”

Adding more to the idea, a third suggested: “Mum done that, and put a pulley system so we can get it low enough to hang sheets.

“Then pull [we] it up so it’s put [out] the way so you can get down the stairs.”

Whilst someone else added: “You can also use them on the back of doors. Ties, scarves, towels, anything.”

Another simply praised the idea and said: “Genius.”

More winter laundry tips

Tackling laundry in the winter can be a challenge, but these handy tips can help you stay on top of it:

  • Use a Dehumidifier: Place a dehumidifier in your drying area to speed up the drying process and prevent dampness.
  • Spin Cycle Boost: Run an extra spin cycle on your washing machine to remove excess water from clothes, reducing drying time.
  • Indoor Drying Rack: Invest in a good-quality indoor drying rack and position it near a radiator or in a well-ventilated room.
  • Tumble Dryer Balls: Add tumble dryer balls to your dryer to help clothes dry faster and reduce static cling.
  • Space-Saving Hangers: Use space-saving hangers or a retractable washing line to maximise indoor drying space.
  • Microfibre Towels: Lay microfibre towels over your drying rack to absorb extra moisture from hanging clothes.
  • Partially Dry Outside: On dry days, hang clothes outside for a short period before bringing them in to finish drying.

These hacks can help you keep your laundry routine efficient and your clothes fresh, even during the colder months.

Facebook user, Kat Pearson, shared her mega finds to Facebook group Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK‘s 2.6 million members.

She posted pics of the items she picked up in TK Maxx’s Blackpool branch, alongside a price breakdown of her spend.

Kat managed to pick up a glam set of make up brushes and a cute bracelet and makeup set for just £3 each.

She’d nabbed an adorable Disney Stitch character brush set for just £2.50, which also included clips and a scrunchie.

Stocking up on skincare for the year, Kat also found a set of five sheet masks for just £2.

And topping up the makeup kit, she’d purchased a set of makeup puffs and an eyeshadow palette for £1.10 each.

Perhaps Kat’s best find was the Rainbow High Townhouse Maison dolls house for just £19 – a toy which usually retails for £170.

Following close behind in value was the adorable mini Tefal kitchen station for just £9.

The money-minded mum snapped up the unbelievable bargains quickly, using the opportunity to spread the costs of gifts over the year.

How Does TK Maxx Flog Designer for Cheap?

  • TK Maxx follows an off-price business model to get designer products for cheap
  • It buys merchandise from various brands and designers at a discount and then sells it to customers at lower prices than traditional retail stores
  • The selection at its outlets often includes overstocked items, last season’s styles and goods from cancelled orders.
  • The Gold Label is a premium collection of designer and luxury products offered by TK Maxx.
  • If you love designer clothes, this is the tag you want to look out for on pieces.

She’d even planned to set some of the items aside for Christmas 2025!

Users in the comments couldn’t believe her luck.

“Bargains!” said one person.

While another tagged their friend and wrote: “We need to go here.”

“Need to go have a look,” said someone else.

And another user said: “Feel like I need to pop to TK Maxx lol.”

‘Do not open door’ garda warning over ‘tarmac scam’ involving people dressing up to target elderly & vulnerable people

GARDAI have issued a stark warning over a man or men “claiming to be a builder” and turning up at the doors of unsuspecting victims.

Homeowners have been urged to be wary of the “tarmac scam”, which sees men going door-to-door claiming to be a builder and offering cheap work the person who opens the door to their knock.

They are calling to homes and telling residents that they have leftover tarmac and will then offer to carry out work on the driveway or surrounding area at a discount.

Gardai say they are mostly targeting elderly or more vulnerable residents, with most reports occurring in Donegal.

The men will take the money and then fill in any holes in the ground with gravel chippings covered with engine oil, or other materials that won’t last.

Gardai warned: “A man or men typically go door-to-door, claiming to be a builder/s working on a contract who have some leftover tarmac and offering to conduct work on a driveway or surroundings of a building at a low cost.

“The material then used is often gravel chippings covered with engine oil or not the right depth and type of materials to form a lasting road surface.

“These conmen may target elderly, vulnerable residents or businesses and claim to be official contractors working on roadworks to add credibility.”

While doing the work, these men have been reported to increase the cost.

They claim that the job has required more material than initially expected and often move on to issuing threats to the homeowners.

Gardai added: “They often increase the cost during the course of the work claiming that the job has required more material than expected and they may then start issuing threats.

“We received reports of these types of bogus callers in the Glenties area today.

“They were travelling in a white Land Rover Defender although please keep in mind that various vehicles would be in use by them.

“Please be vigilant and inform Gardai immediately should you have callers at your home or business who are offering to lay tarmac.”

Gardai are urging the public to not open the front door to anyone unless you are sure you know them and advised people to never agree to work carried out by callers to the door.

Tips on how to avoid scams

Garda advice on how to avoid vishing, smishing and phishing is as follows:

Vishing – Calls

  • Be wary of cold calls received. Ask the caller their name, their phone number and if you are concerned hang up and ring your bank / service provider from a number advertised in a phone book, on your bill or from a Google search.
  • Just because the number looks Irish does not mean it is – fraudsters use VOIP and spoofed numbers.
  • Never act on advice received or instructions from a cold caller.
  • Never give away personal data like bank account details, PIN numbers, credit card numbers, passwords, one time codes, PPS numbers or Eircodes.
  • Never download any Apps as these allow the fraudster to take control of your device.
  • Be aware that State bodies including the Revenue Commissioners will not ring you to advise that you are under investigation.
  • Do not transfer money in any way.
  • Before taking any action, seek advice from a trusted person.

Smishing – Texts

  • Be wary of such texts even if they are contained within the thread of previous genuine texts from banks.
  • Never click on links – by doing so you are accessing cloned websites.
  • If you’re expecting a delivery and receive such a text, be very careful.
  • Banking institutions will never send a text containing a link.
  • An Garda Síochána advise people not to respond to such texts, to take screenshots of the texts received and delete them and to report it to the bank or relevant company and local Garda station.

Phishing – Emails

  • Phishing emails can look official – make sure you are certain it’s legitimate before opening an attachment.
  • Hover over any hyperlinks so you know where they lead to before you click (or go directly to the source).
  • Beware of requests for personal or financial details or requests to reset passwords.
  • Delete any suspicious emails, block the sender and don’t forward the email to anyone else.
  • Don’t store passwords on your browser. If any of your passwords are compromised, it could lead to a chain of disasters and compromise all your accounts.
  • Avoid using personal or untrusted removable devices (such as phones, tablets, iPods, SD Cards) on office systems.
  • Beware of generic, impersonal greetings, such as “Dear Friend” or poor spelling and grammar.
  • Check the displayed name against the actual email.
  • Limit what you share online – cybercriminals use information you post online to learn how to gain your trust.
  • Stay updated with security policies and best practices.

A garda spokesperson said: “Do not open your door to anybody unless you are sure who they are. Use a chain lock for extra security.

“DO NOT agree to have work carried out by these types of callers and do not provide them with your personal details.

“Should you come across these callers, please contact us immediately in Letterkenny on 074-9167100, Buncrana on 074-9320540, Milford on 074-9153060 or Ballyshannon on 071-9858530.”

Gardai ask that homeowners take note of their direction of travel, their description and registration numbers.

If any camera footage is captured such as doorbells or dashcams, it is advised to make this available to Gardai.

Pokémon TCG Pocket trading: how does it work and how to get Trade Tokens

Illustration of Pokémon trading card game app interface showing card trades.

THREE months after the game’s launch, Pokémon TCG Pocket has finally added a trading feature.

Trading dropped with the latest update to the app, so if you still don’t have it activated on the Social Hub tab, head over to your phone’s app store and manually update.

The Pokémon Company
Trading has finally made its way to Pokémon TCG Pocket[/caption]

The much-requested feature lets players exchange cards with their TCG Pocket friends, helping them get rid of duplicates and grab cards they haven’t collected yet.

The Pokémon Company has promised that trading is coming in a future update ever since the game released.

The Trade option is displayed in the app’s Social Hub, next to Friends and Community Showcases but it was greyed out until today.

Pokémon TCG Pocket trading comes with some restrictions, and there are a few rules you should know before you start exchanging your precious cards with other players.

Here’s everything there is to know about trading in TCG Pocket.

How to trade in Pokémon TCG Pocket

Here are the basic steps to initiate a trade in Pokémon TCG Pocket:

  1. Go to the Social Hub tab in TCG Pocket and then select Trade.
  2. From the Trade screen, tap the Trade button and select a friend to trade with.
  3. Then, choose a card you wish to offer to your friend.
  4. Your friend will have 2 days to respond to your trade
  5. Check back the trade screen to see your friend’s response
  6. View the card they’re offering and tap OK.

You won’t be able to start another trade until the first one is resolved, expires, or you terminate it before your friend responds.

Only like-for-like cards can be traded, which means cards from the same rarity, and if you trade a card with flair, your friend must also send a card with flair.

Each successful trade consumes Trade Stamina, one unit per trade, regardless of card rarity.

If your trade is declined by your friend or you cancel it before they accept, the stamina point and the card you offered are returned to you.

Trade Stamina recovers one point every 24h, up to a maximum of 5 stamina points.

Screenshot of a mobile game screen showing a trade stamina recovery timer of 21 hours and 3 minutes.
The Pokémon Company
One point of Trade Stamina takes 24h to recover, but you can spend Trade Hourglasses or Gold to speed up the process[/caption]

There are extra stamina slots for recovered stamina points when a trade is unsuccessful.

You can use the new Trade Hourglasses to reduce the time required to recover trade stamina.

These can be obtained by completing missions that reward them, but we’re yet to see these added to the game.

Of course, you can also spend Poké Gold to recover stamina, but it costs real money.

How to enable trade offers from other players

The option to Suspend Trade Offers may be enabled by default, so if you want to allow all players on your friend list to send you cards, here’s how to turn it off.

Tap the main menu button and select Other; then tap Settings, scroll down to Suspend Trade Offers and tap the toggle to turn it off.

Screenshot of a screen showing trade offer settings with a toggle to suspend trade offers.
The Pokémon Company
Suspend Trade Offers must be set to “off” if you want to receive trade offers from other players[/caption]

You can turn this back on at any time if you want to stop receiving trade offers.

How to get Trade Tokens in Pokémon TCG Pocket

Cards of three- and four-diamond and one-star rarities consume an additional resource called Trade Tokens when they are traded.

Three-diamond rarity cards require 120 Trade Tokens, while four-diamond cards will use 500 Trade Tokens.

Cards of one-star rarity require 400 Trade Tokens to trade them, and cards of two- and three-star and crown rarities are not tradeable at all right now.

To obtain Trade Tokens in Pokémon TCG Pocket, you need to exchange them in the same way you do to obtain flair.

Illustration of Pokémon TCG pocket trade tokens.
The Pokémon Company
To get Trade Tokens you have to sacrifice, aka exchange, duplicates of your cards, in the same way you obtain flair[/caption]

To exchange a card for Trade Tokens, select a card that’s at least of three-diamond rarity in the My Cards tab.

Tap the Obtain Items button and select the green Trade Token icon.

Just like with flair, you need to have at least three copies of a card to sacrifice one for Trade Tokens, as you must be left with two cards or more after the exchange.

The amount of Trade Tokens you receive per card depends on its rarity.

One- and two-diamond rarity cards cannot be exchanged for Trade Tokens, while three- and four-diamond cards earn you 25 and 125 Trade Tokens per card, respectively.

You get 100 Trade Tokens for each one-star card you destroy, and 300 for two- and three-star cards.

Cards of crown rarity can also be destroyed for a whopping 1500 Trade Tokens per card.

Some special cards cannot be exchanged for tokens, regardless of their rarity, such as the rare immersive Mew card.

Not that you would want to destroy cards like this one, anyway.

TCG Pocket trading rules

Here are some additional rules to keep in mind when trading in Pokémon TCG Pocket.

Promo cards cannot be traded at all; these include special cards obtained from the shop, campaigns, missions, wonder pick events, and promo packs received as rewards during battle events.

Collage of Pokémon trading cards.
The Pokémon Company
Promo cards are off-limits when it comes to trading[/caption]

Item cards like Potion, Professor’s Research and Poké Ball, also count as promo cards and cannot be traded.

As we mentioned, cards with flair can be traded only for other cards with flair from the same rarity.

You can select flair and the language of the cards, if you own the same card in multiple languages, from the Edit Card option before sending it.

That’s everything you need to know about trading in TCG Pocket

For more on the game, check how Pokémon TCG Pocket’s devs warned players of bans ahead of trading’s launch.

Everyone can see the vase of flowers but only a genius can spot the two faces hiding in this brainteaser in 7 seconds

THIS is the funky brain teaser to test your eye sight and powers of logic.

Everyone can see the two people and vase of flowers – but only geniuses can spot the two hidden faces.

Illustration of two people sitting in chairs outdoors, looking at a vase of flowers.
Pinterest
Only geniuses can spot the two hidden faces within seven seconds[/caption]

To be clear – we are not talking about the man and woman sitting opposite eachother in the chairs.

They are obvious.

There are two further faces obscured amongst the sketchy cartoon.

This puzzle is made more difficult by the rough style is uses.

This makes it more difficult to distinguish the objects from the background.

For example, the smoke from the man’s pipe seems to meld in with the shrubs and the sky.

It looks like the two characters are enjoying a nice afternoon natter outside.

The outdoor setting and kind of plants on show give it a tropical feel – it certainly doesn’t look like the UK.

How are you getting on?

Don’t worry if you still haven’t found the faces, here comes a clue.

It looks like the two characters HAVE noticed the elusive faces – unlike you.

If you really can’t see them, head to the bottom for the solution.

People who are able to solve the puzzle quickly possess good observational skills and high cognitive speed.

It tests your ability to process a high volume of visual information and the ability to concentrate under high amounts of pressure.

Psychologists at The University of Glasgow found that staring at an optical illusion can improve eye sight by allowing you to see small print.

How can optical illusions and brainteasers help me?

Engaging in activities like solving optical illusions and brainteasers can have many cognitive benefits as it can stimulate various brain regions.

Some benefits include:

  • Cognitive stimulation: Engaging in these activities challenges the brain, promoting mental agility and flexibility.
  • Problem-solving skills: Regular practice enhances analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Memory improvement: These challenges often require memory recall and can contribute to better memory function.
  • Creativity: They encourage thinking outside the box, fostering creativity and innovative thought processes.
  • Focus and attention: Working on optical illusions and brainteasers requires concentration, contributing to improved focus.
  • Stress relief: The enjoyable nature of these puzzles can act as a form of relaxation and stress relief.

Here’s the answer for those of you who are clearly not geniuses.

The hidden faces belong to strange body-less heads sitting on the people’s laps.

If you enjoyed that puzzle, why not try a few more?

As always, solutions included down below.
