Princess Kate ‘hands on’ with school sports days & events for George, Charlotte & Louis despite other mums ‘staring’
SHE may be the future Queen but Princess Kate puts her role as mum before all else, according to a royal expert.
The dedicated mum-of-three is said to be “hands on” when it comes to being present for Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, nine, and Prince Louis, six.
![The Cambridge family walking their children to school.](https://www.thesun.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2025/01/britains-prince-george-cambridge-britains-861374118.jpg?strip=all&w=960)
Currently all three of Prince William and Princess Kate’s kids go to £7,000-a-term Lambrook School near Ascot, Berkshire.
Speaking to Fabulous, Ingrid Seward shared: “According to the other mums at Lambrook she turns up for sports days, she turns up for special matches, and she’s a very hands-on mum.
“Sometimes she goes with her mother Carole. And obviously William goes when he can. “They often go altogether.
“Obviously the other mums are all googley-eyed to see [her].
“Obviously she gets stared at when she’s there.”
Ingrid, who is Editor-in-Chief of Majesty Magazine, said that life for Princess Kate as a senior working royal is “very organised.”
She added: “It wouldn’t be ‘oh gosh! I’ve got to go to make some cupcakes, for the sports day’.
“It would all be very organised because she has to be organised.
“It’s not like an ordinary person.”
Although Princess Kate frequently does the school run herself, from their nearby Windsor home, Adelaide Cottage, she does have help available if she needs.
Ingrid added: “There’d be chauffeurs, or there’d be her mum. So everything is within a radius for her.
“I think Lambrook’s been a very good setup.
“It’s a wonderful school, and the fact that they can go home at night must have been very important this last year.
“Children get very concerned about their parents when they’re not well, and I think that it would have been an absolute blessing to have to be halfway between mum Kate and grandmother Carole.
“I think they also could easily be picked up by Carole and go back to Bucklebury, or go back to Windsor.”
Lambrook is a co-ed preparatory, that started in 1860 and allows part-time boarding.
It scored ‘excellent’ in its most recent Independent Schools Inspectorate.

George’s school move
All eyes are on where Prince George will be going to school next year, as Princess Kate has done numerous viewings of prospective locations.
While Princes William and Harry went to single-sex elite school Eton College, Kate’s school Marlborough College is said to be being considered.
Ahead of the big move from Lambrook School, Princess Kate has also looked round two prospective elite London schools in December.

The Princess of Wales first toured round the £10,000-a-term, “boldly academic”, single sex University College School (UCS) in Hampstead after term ended for the festive break.
The same week, Kate looked round co-ed Highgate School, located two miles away, which was closed for a “special VIP visitor”, according to the Mail.
Other options for George are said to be Oundle School in Northamptonshire and the elite St Edward’s School, also known as “Teddies” – which boasts Oppenheimer actress Florence Pugh as an alumna.
Will Prince George go to a state school?

ROYAL pros have discussed the possibility of Prince George ditching an education at Eton College for time at a state school.
Speaking to royal reporter Bronte Coy on The Sun’s Royal Exclusive, royal experts Richard Palmer and Katie Nicholl spoke about the significant decision looming for Princess Kate and Prince William in regards to Prince George’s schooling.
Katie acknowledged the Waleses’ desire to shake things up, as she claimed: “I think the big question is, is it going to be Eton and following in tradition and obviously George going to an all boys’ school, or will they break the tradition and go to a co-ed?
“I don’t think they’re at logger heads and I’m not dressing this up as a row, but it’s a big decision they’ve got to make.
“They’ve been around to see the schools and I guess at some point we will know what they’ve chosen to do.”
Meanwhile, Richard Palmer chimed in: “Personally, I think it’s a great shame that our future head of State doesn’t actually go to a state school.
“And I think it would be fantastic if that were to happen.
“I think Katie’s right, it’s second nature for people of their social background to send their kids away, clearly if George is at Eton they’re just around the corner, but I think what tends to happen is that the kids themselves don’t want to be going from home every day because they’re not then really at the heart of the school community.
“You want to be a boarder, so I’m guessing all of the kids will end up boarding, even if they go to schools very close.”
Europe’s largest indoor waterpark opens new ‘island’ attraction with beach and rainforest themed playgrounds
THE largest indoor waterpark in Europe just got a little bit bigger after its latest attraction, Crocodile Island, opened earlier this year.
Suntago Water World opened back in 2020 becoming the largest of its kind in Europe.
![Crocodile Island play area at Suntago park, featuring a large boat-shaped play structure.](https://www.thesun.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2025/01/crocodile-island-land-full-challenges-968065330.jpg?strip=all&w=499)

Not only is it a balmy 32C inside throughout the year, it also has 18 swimming pools and 35 water slides.
The Polish waterpark got a little bit bigger when Crocodile Island opened on January 17, just in time for the country’s winter school holidays.
First announced in 2022, Crocodile Island has been created alongside Creative Studio Berlin, which has imagined new stories and three mascots: Jag, Maggy, and Otto.
The new family-friendly land features four zones: the Boat, the Beach, the Rainforest and the Ruins.
Its first zone is the Boat, which acts as the entryway to Crocodile Island and is home to a huge boat.
Designed with younger guests in mind, the Beach zone features a range of play areas, building activities and a live entertainment stage.
Meanwhile, in the Rainforest zone, kids can climb a huge tree, play educational games and use up some energy in the soft play area.
The Ruins zone has been designed for teenagers and is home to water spray games, contests and challenges.
Outside Crocodile Island, there are plenty of other attractions and activities inside the waterpark.
Spread across 75,000 square metres, the Polish waterpark is home to three zones, Jamango, Relax Suntago and Saunaria.
![Rainbow-colored water slides at Suntago water park.](https://www.thesun.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2025/01/suntago-water-park-854593671.jpg?strip=all&w=960)
Families will get the most out of Jamango thanks to its themed water jungle with palm trees and sunbeds.
The area also has several water slides, including a lazy river and baby pools.
Meanwhile, only guests aged 16 and over can visit Relax Suntago, making it the perfect spot for adults.
Park-goers will find hot tubs, thermal pools, sulphur pools and brine pools.
The Saunaria zone has 15 saunas as well as steam rooms and hot tub pools.
Suntago Water World also has five restaurants – serving American, Asian and of course Polish cuisine – and four bars right by the pools along with juice and snack bars.

The waterpark even has its own holiday village, with Suntago Village having 92 fully equipped bungalows ranging from four-person to eight-person.
Idan Greidinger, CEO of Park of Poland, told Blooloop: “Creative Studio Berlin was in charge from concept to opening. In close collaboration with the Suntago team, they transformed the 1,000 sqm area into a highly themed playground like no other water park has.
“Only open for just a couple of days, it’s already our guests’ favorite. Families love to immerse themselves into the world of our mascots Jay, Meggy and Otto at Crocodile Island.”
Entry tickets for adults start from PLN 155 (£30.76), while tickets for children up to 120cm start from PLN 95 (£18.65).
The attraction is about an hour’s drive away from Warsaw.
Both Ryanair and Wizz Air operate direct flights from UK airports like London, Birmingham, Leeds, and Newcastle.
Sun Online Travel has found one-way tickets from the UK to Warsaw for £17 during the winter months.

Hundreds of Brits sign up to travel to Kim Jong Un’s Benidorm-style resort in North Korea – despite dire tourist warning
HUNDREDS of Brits have signed up to visit the “North Korean Benidorm” when it opens – despite dire warnings to would-be tourists.
Kim Jong-un has struggled for years to launch his massive new beach resort, with the grand opening delayed again and again.
![Kim Jong-Un toasting beers with a man at an outdoor cafe.](https://www.thesun.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2025/01/kim-jong-un-hopes-welcome-968074736.jpg?strip=all&w=617)

But the Wonsan-Kalma resort will finally welcome guests later this year – and now 250 Brits have signed up to be there.
This is despite a terrifying warning that a trip to the dictatorship could cost holidaymakers their lives.
Kim reportedly sent a fact-finding mission to Spain‘s Costa Blanca in 2017 to inspire his vanity-project resort – built at a former missile base – hence the “Benidorm” nickname.
Work kept stalling and the site was even overrun by homeless wanderers – known as “kotjebi” in North Korea – who filled the empty hotels with faeces.
Now, after years of delay, the ribbon will be cut this summer, with the first trips in July up for sale through Vostok Intur, a Russian travel agency.
And it seems Brits are keen.
Holiday planners On The Beach made a page for people who were interested, and it racked up more than 250 sign-ups within a month.
But campaigners warn that nobody’s safety is assured in Kim’s kingdom.
Greg Scarlatoiu, director of the Committee for Human Rights in North Korea, said a trip there would be unsafe and immoral.
He said: “The Wonsan-Kalma resort was built with forced labour. Vacationing there is morally and ethically wrong – it is truly an abomination.
“Having Russian nationals vacation there is testament to the pathetic isolation of both Russia and North Korea.”
Past tourists in the country have even lost their lives.
Greg gave the example of Otto Warmbier, an American student arrested on dubious charges during a trip to Pyongyang in 2016.
Accused of taking down a propaganda poster, he was detained for 17 months.

The treatment he received behind bars left him in a vegetative state, and he died after being released.
And he’s not the only one.
A South Korean tourist was shot and killed when he strayed too far from his resort in 2008, supposedly having entered a military area.
Others have spent years rotting in Kim’s prisons.
Greg said: “Even if foreign visitors are from Russia, their safety can never be guaranteed.
“The tragedy of Otto Warmbier continues to loom large. No one, not even Russian nationals, should travel to North Korea.”
The Foreign Office also warns against all non-essential travel to North Korea.
Its website cautions that “offences that would be considered trivial in other countries can incur very severe penalties in North Korea”.
One example would be “not paying sufficient respect, including not treating images of the current and former North Korean leaders with care”.
It notes that the regime has “previously arrested visitors with or without specified charges”.
There is no date set for when Western tourists will be actually be allowed in.

On The Beach said it was not currently offering holidays there and was “surprised” by the enthusiasm it received from Brits.
Zoe Harris, chief customer officer, said: “We’re always on the lookout for the next best thing when it comes to all-inclusive resorts in incredible destinations.
“We were intrigued whether Brits would be interested in the new Wonsan resort and so we set up a page where people could register their interest.
“We were surprised to see that more than 250 holidaymakers put their names down.
“I don’t envisage us Brits swapping Benidorm for a North Korean Benidorm anytime soon.
“But if the doors to the Wonsan resort are opened to British holidaymakers it looks like there will be some who want to experience it.”
Vostok Intur’s seven-night Wonsan itinerary includes four beach days, and costs about £1,500 all-in.
Departure dates on sale include July 7, August 4, and August 18.
The tour operator was contacted for comment.

Men should get six paid weeks off when their baby is born, claims expert
SCOTTISH Secretary Ian Murray revealed he is to become the first UK Cabinet Minister to take full paternity leave when he becomes a dad for a second time.
The MP for Edinburgh South with his wife Mariam are expecting a brother or sister for their daughter Zola in the coming weeks.

The Labour Government’s Make Work Pay agenda which delivers a series of day one rights of employment, including entitlement to Paternity Leave and Unpaid Parental Leave, which will benefit an additional 1.5million parents.
But currently one-in-five dads and partners that are eligible for paternity leave take no leave at all.
As a working mum of two, Carol Erskine welcomed Murray’s decision to take his full fortnight paternity leave entitlement — but insists his Labour government needs to do much more for new parents.
Her charity Pregnant Then Screwed helps support pregnant women and mothers facing loss of pay, navigating childcare and redundancies with up-to-date information about their employment rights.
But she firmly believes that dads also play an important role in the first weeks of a newborn’s life.
She said: “While it’s welcome that Iain Murray is doing this, I feel very disappointed it’s taken until 2025 before we have a cabinet minister actually taking their full entitlement of paternity leave.
“This says a lot about the work that needs to be done on paternity leave in the UK and how far we have to go to normalise the role of dads as caregivers.”
By law, an employer must pay statutory paternity to those eligible of £184.03 a week. But Pregnant Then Screwed wants to see that extended to six weeks leave paid at 90 per cent of salary.
She said: “We have worked with the Centre for Progressive Policy on how dads involvement in those first few weeks has a longer term impact on children.
“It can be really crucial for parents especially if mums have had a difficult birth, if you have a child that’s born prematurely.
“A growing number of women have a caesarean section now which means a six week recovery when you can’t drive, you have to really watch what you’re doing.
“Even a textbook term that goes as planned is still a massive upheaval to deal with a baby with little to no sleep.”
She adds: “We know as well that dads don’t want to be straight back after two weeks. They want to be more involved at home, but it comes down to if they can afford it.
“That’s why a lot of them end up taking two weeks holiday instead which means that they’re not actually getting an entitlement.”
Carol also believes that an increase of paternity leave will help more mums to return to the work place and therefore reduce the gender pay gap.
She explains: “Quite simply it means you will see more women return to work, which ultimately is better for the economy in the longer term.
“We know when there’s enhanced paternity leave it does reduce the gender pay gap.”
However, with businesses still reeling from the Labour Government’s National Insurance increase, which saw Sainsbury’s announce it will lay off 3,000 staff due to a “challenging cost environment”, will surely baulk at increased paternity pay?
Carol concedes: “We know if you are in a job where there might only be a small number of you then even to take two weeks off is quite ambitious.
“But it has been shown that dads who go back to work are more productive and also more likely to stay in that job.
“We’ve got to get out of that mindset and think how it is going to be beneficial longer term for society as well.
“There’s the whole issue with Scotland’s declining birth rate, it’s projected to be worse than the rest of the UK, so we need to be having more kids to help maintain our public services in the future.”
She adds: “But we have a long way to go, a recent study of all the European countries showed the UK at the bottom when it came to paternity leave.
“We’re not even talking about the Scandinavia countries but places like Romania, Latvia, Malta and Italy are all ahead of us.”
So while Carole praises Iain Murray for taking a step in the right direction as he prepares to welcome a new addition to his household, she now wants to see Labour do a whole lot more for other dads.
She said: “We are loudly applauding Ian for setting an example that we hope other members of government will follow.
“But we hope to see Labour address the challenges faced by all of the dads and partners who are unable to spend crucial time with their new families.”
Key stumbling block emerges around West Ham’s loan pursuit of Evan Ferguson as transfer deadline rapidly nears
WEST HAM are leading the race to sign Evan Ferguson but want a fitness guarantee.
Talks are progressing over a loan deal for the Ireland striker, though the Hammers are waiting for clarity on his injury situation.
![Evan Ferguson, Brighton & Hove Albion player #28.](https://www.thesun.ie/wp-content/uploads/sites/3/2025/01/evan-ferguson-brighton-hove-albion-967104324.jpg?strip=all&w=960)

Ferguson has not played since December 21 and while he has returned to training, he has yet to be named on the bench.
The Seagulls are open to offers, with Bayer Leverkusen, Fulham and Bournemouth all interested.
Current boss Fabian Hurzeler, though, still sees his future at the Amex.
The German said: “The main thing is development, his individual development.
“That’s what we’re really keen on. I see the future from Evan long-term and I see it here because I like his profile.
“His profile is rare on the market, you don’t see it so often, a clear No 9.”
However, he warned: “We are talking a lot about Evan’s past, how good he was.
“In the end no one can get anything back from the past. We know he has the potential.”
New West Ham boss Graham Potter handed Ferguson his Brighton debut, though the striker only made five appearances under him.
The Hammers have had a loan bid for PSV Eindhoven striker Ricardo Pepi — who scored one and grabbed an assist against Liverpool on Wednesday night — rejected.
Elsewhere in Irish football news, Damien Duff has revealed he turned down an approach from a ‘big English club’ last week.
But the Shelbourne boss insisted he has no intention of going anywhere anytime soon.
The ex-Ireland star’s reputation soared last year when he led the Shels to an unexpected league title.
And he made it clear that he would be hanging around to try to back it up again ahead of the season’s start in a fortnight’s time.
Duff admitted there had been some approaches in the close-season, most recently through his assistant, Joey O’Brien.
BOLTON FROM THE BLUE?
Duff did not name the club but O’Brien’s former club Bolton sacked Ian Evatt last week and are still on the lookout for a new boss.
Duff said: “I’ve had a couple. Joey rang me last week, a big club in England rang to see if I was interested and we didn’t even have the conversation.
“We just got back on to Shels. I think that shows my interest. No. Anybody could ring me, anybody. I’m not just saying it for the sake of it or to think ‘oh, he’s a good guy’.
“No, I honestly just want to stay here. I’m surrounded by brilliant people.
“Am I going in cranky every day? Yeah, but that doesn’t mean I don’t love them. I’ve no plans to go anywhere, believe it or not.
“I’ve got a beautiful wife and kids here, my daughter is still in sixth class. As long as people want me in the league, I will be here. I’m not going anywhere regardless of somebody wanting me.
“My duty here is to my family first, to Shelbourne, but also to the league because I haven’t done it just for quotes or to be heard.
“I’ve fought for the league and I’m going to continue to do it and I’m passionate about it, and I want it to grow.
“I absolutely believe that it’s the most inspiring thing in Irish football at the minute, absolutely head and shoulders above our national team and I’ve no plans to go away.
“You’re stuck with me for the time being.”
