DEAR DEIDRE: MY friend cares more about Taylor Swift than she does about me.
She really let me down when I was sick, and now I’m not sure if I want to be mates anymore.
We’re both 17-year-old girls, and met on a fan forum. She lives in London and I live in Hertfordshire.
We grew really close. When Taylor Swift announced her tour, she asked if I wanted to go with her, and stay at her parents’ house.
I got the train down to London and she met me, but during the gig I felt really unwell.
I managed to make it through, but wanted to go straight home after. She refused, so I had to hang around, feeling dreadful.
Now she keeps moaning that I spoiled her night.
DEIDRE SAYS: Friends should look out for each other.
Your mate was clearly excited about seeing Taylor Swift, but she should have been more sympathetic when you were ill.
Moaning about it now is selfish and immature.
If you want to stay friends, tell her how you feel. My support pack, Standing Up For Yourself, should help.

IRELAND AM star Tommy Bowe has made a major career move as he announced his gig.
The Virgin Media star first launched his podcast, The Offload, with his celeb pal Donncha O’Callaghan last October 2024.
The sports-themed show has been a huge hit with listeners since its release and has since reached great success.
And the two lads have revealed that they are taking their podcast to the stage for a live show.
They will be performing in the Dublin’s 3Olympia Theatre on Wednesday, March 5, 2025, at 7pm.
Tickets for the event are currently on sale on Ticketmaster and are priced from €39.90.
Taking to Instagram yesterday to announce the news, Tommy wrote: “Excited to announce we are doing a live show before the French match in the Olympia!
“Donners, myself and guests on stage, what could possibly go wrong?!
“It will be a great night. Hope to see you there.”
Donncha added: “Let’s go TBowe. Finger’s crossed you have a hidden talent or worked with @cirquedusoleil during the off season.”
The iconic duo’s friends and fans were all thrilled with the announcement and raced to the comment section with compliments.
RTE sta Carl Mullan said: “Savage, this will be unreal.”
Ciara King wrote: “Aw amazing you guys!”
Michelle commented: “Ah fantastic lads.”
Another fan added: “Excellent… best podcast around.”
Last week Tommy had a hilarious fall while on air with Muireann O’Connell and Brooke Scullion.
Tommy and Brooke spoke to two representatives from Boswell Equestrian Centre, in Ashford, about hobby horsing.
The Finnish sport is where participants leap athletically over fences while straddling their stick steeds – similar to dressage but without the use of real horses.
And of course Tommy and Brooke had to have a go themselves, with some of the horse riding school participants.
Brooke was quite anxious as she leaped over the fences and fake walls on set.
The Derry beauty shouted out: “I’m actually going to fall.”
While Tommy was very enthusiastic and confidently said: “Oh god, I it.”
However moments later Tommy fell flat on his bum after jumping over one of the obstacles.
DEAR DEIDRE: WHEN my brother told me that our dad had sexually abused him when he was little, I was so shocked that it sent me reeling.
I’d always loved my dad and thought of him as a good man – even though he left us when I was six.
I’m now 48 and my brother is 50. Our dad is 80.
My brother couldn’t remember how old he was when the abuse happened – he only had vague memories – and wasn’t sure if he’d report it.
I felt so confused and torn. I wanted to help him but, at the same time, didn’t want to believe my dad could have done this.
And I worried how Mum would react.
You were so sympathetic and advised me to talk to a counsellor, sending me your How Counselling Can Help and Abused As A Child support packs.
I realised I was struggling so went to see my GP, who arranged for me to have CBT.
My brother is also getting help from a counsellor. We’re both supporting our mum.
Thank you so much Deidre, both for your understanding, and for checking up on me.

FORTNITE deployed its latest update v33.30 this morning, January 31, 2025, kicking off OG Chapter 1 Season 2.
The patch and new season bring a new OG Pass, skins, map changes and more, as well as tweaks to other Fortnite modes.
Godzilla will no longer appear in Battle Royale matches, as the latest patch also marks the beginning of the end of Chapter 6 Season 1 Demon Hunters.
Here’s everything you need to know about the new nostalgia-infused OG Season 2, and other changes and new content across Fortnite’s other modes.
As we already last week from the season’s teasers, the new OG Pass is bringing remixed versions of iconic Chapter 1 Season 2 skins.
New variants of the Black Knight, Cuddle Team Leader, and Sparkle Specialist are now available as OG Pass rewards.
The Sparkle Diva outfit is unlocked upon purchasing the new OG Pass, and you will get it instantly if you have an active Fortnite Crew subscription.
Another version, the Dancefloor Diva is waiting at level 15 of the OG Pass.
The other skins you can grab by levelling up are Cuddle Team Specialist, Polar Team Specialist, and remixed versions of Cuddle Team Leader, at levels 23 and 28, respectively.
The remixed Black Knight skins are Knight Conqueror unlocked at level 36, and Golden Conqueror, which you get if you level up out OG Pass to maximum.
Of course, the list of unlockable rewards includes plenty of cosmetics that go together with each outfit, plus each skin includes a Lego Fortnite minifigure version.
The OG Pass costs 1,000 V-Bucks to purchase, which is exactly $8.99 / £6.99 in real money, based on current prices.
Of course, the revamped Fortnite Crew subscription now includes all season passes, so if and while you’re subscribed, you get the OG Pass at no additional cost.
Of course, it wouldn’t be a nostalgic OG season if it didn’t add some iconic points of interest from Fortnite’s original Season 2.
As expected, update v33.30 brings back Tilted Towers, Junk Junction, Haunted Hills, Snobby Shores, and Shifty Shafts POIs.
Update v33.30 is adding classic Chapter 1 Season 2 weapons and gear to the loot pool in OG mode.
Here are all the iconic items that will be added gradually throughout the new season:
The Small Shield Potion and the Multi-Surface Damage Trap area already live in the game.
The latest update didn’t only bring changes to OG mode, and in Battle Royale mode, the Titan Takedown event is over.
This means that Godzilla is gone from Fortnite, and you will no longer get the chance to fight or become the kaiju during Battle Royale matches.
The change also marks the beginning of the end for Chapter 6 Season 1: Demon Hunters, which will be running until February 21, 2025.
Fortnite is gearing up for Valentine’s Day already, and after update v33.30, you will find a flower shop in Lego Fortnite Brick Life’s city.
NPCs in Fortnite’s minifigure life-sim mode will also start giving you Valentine’s Day-related quests.
There will be themed daily activities, starting every day at 5pm Brick Bay Time, and will include Vampire Experiment, Litter Boxing, and A Race with Drift.
Fortnite’s new shooting mode, Ballistic, is getting a new weapon, the Drum Gun, which combines high damage with a large mag.
