I thought I scored my dream car for just £500 – only for seller to steal my money, run me OVER & take off with the motor

Collage of a man showing a phone screen with a parking ticket app and leaning on his car.

A MAN was robbed of £500 and run over by a Gumtree seller when he went to collect a car, he claims.

Guy Field, 60, was driven to a residential car park in Bristol, where he was struck by the same Peugeot 208 he was hoping to buy.

Since the ordeal the same car has been re-advertised at a higher price[/caption]

He says after taking his cash, the seller jumped behind the wheel and drove off, hitting him square on and causing him to be flung over the bonnet and roof.

Guy told the Sun: “I can’t believe some muppet is willing to run me over for 500 quid. If I was dragged under the car for 50 yards I’d be dead.”

He’d travelled from his home in Launceston, Cornwall, on January 22 to see the vehicle and pay for it.

The seller had met him at Bristol Temple Meades station and insisted they go for a drive before pulling up in Fox Road around two miles away to complete the transaction.

They had initially agreed a price of £800 but Guy said he pointed out from doing a car check it was listed as a Category S write-off and would cost several hundred to fix.

The lower fee of £500 was then agreed.

However, after examining the logbook and then handing over the money in cash, Guy was just closing the bonnet when he said “it’s clicked with me”.

The seller was back behind the wheel “and he’s got a big cheesy smile on his face”, he said.

“I’m thinking, oh s***… It’s like when your life flashes before your eyes. It happens really fast, but it seems like a year.

“He absolutely floors the throttle, drops the clutch and runs me over.

“I went over the top of the car – across the bonnet, across the windscreen, across the roof and down the back, and there’s just loads of wheel spinning as he disappears.

Guy added: “I landed on my elbow, on my back, on my arse, then on my head.”

Disoriented, he took out his phone to call the police and asked someone walking past what street they were on.

Cops arrived “within a minute” and offered to take him to hospital, but facing a long journey home and having left his Labrador half the day, he asked to be taken to the station instead.

He said the officers told him: “You’re lucky you live in Cornwall because Bristol is the Wild West.”

On the way home on the train, Guy said he was “sat in the corner crying” and a woman came over to ask if he was okay.

The following day, he spotted the same car back for sale on Gumtree again.

Police have since confirmed the car has been recovered and “enquiries to identify the driver are ongoing”.

Guy said: “The point of it is, I’m a damn savvy dude, and if this can happen to me it can happen to anyone.

“These idiots keep spamming these ads and actively trying to rob people.”

He regularly buys and sells expensive items on Gumtree and says he’s annoyed the company hasn’t done more to help.

“I tried to ring Gumtree 50 times and eventually got through to their call centre in South Africa.

“They haven’t communicated with me, they haven’t said s***.”

He said in order to sell anything he has to verify his identity through a number of means.

He added: “These guys, I don’t know if they have burner phones. I assume they are really clever or really stupid, I assume they’re stupid.”

Guy explained he’s been going over all the details from the day in his mind since and recalls how he “smelled a rat” as soon as the seller rang him.

He said he was keen to change plans and meet at a different location rather than the station, and gave him a postcode, which he later realised was the residential car park they ended up at.

Guy had refused as he could hear other male voices speaking in the background.

“I was envisioning a load of other men turning up,” he said.

And then the seller was insistent on being paid in cash, asking him over and over during the short drive if he had money on him.

Guy continued: “He kept looking at me, he asked me how old I am before I got there… I think he was weighing up the whole time to attack me.”

He added: “I’m worried this kind of thing is happening all the time, but it’s not getting publicity.

“I’m 6ft1 and 18 stone but what if I was a young woman or a pensioner? This guy was willing to kill me for so little money.”

A spokesperson for Avon & Somerset Police said: “Officers are investigating after a man was struck with a car during in aggravated vehicle taking last week.

“The victim, who had attempted to purchase a vehicle from an online seller, had cash stolen and was struck by the vehicle which failed to stop in Fox Road, Easton, Bristol, at around 5.20pm on Wednesday 22 January.

“The vehicle has been recovered by police and enquiries to identify the driver are ongoing.

“If you witnessed the incident, or have relevant footage which could aid our enquiries, please call 101 and quote reference 5225018782 to the call handler.”

The Sun has contacted Gumtree for comment.

Robbie Keane singles out what makes Troy Parrott ‘very similar to me’ after Ireland past and present collide

ROBBIE KEANE reckons Troy Parrott is special — because he is just like him.

Ireland’s record goalscorer got a first-hand look at the AZ Alkmaar striker in his first competitive victory as Ferencvaros boss — a 4-3 Europa League win over the Dutch outfit on Thursday night that booked their place in the last-16 play-off round.

The pair also share a link through their Spurs connection[/caption]

The Hungarian hosts raced into a 3-0 before Parrott came on to inspire a fightback, scoring a stunner for AZ’s second and helping set up their third.

Keane is all too familiar with Parrott’s quality having worked with his fellow Dubliner when the Tallaght man was Mick McCarthy’s Ireland assistant.

And he has kept a close eye on Parrott since then for Ireland and through his Tottenham connections.

He said: “I think he has something different, he’s clever, he’s difficult to play against because he can go in behind and he can come short. In ways, he’s very similar to me.

“The two of us weren’t the quickest but we’re sharp over ten, 15 yards. And then you see how his brain works on the football pitch.”

But it was the performance of his own side that pleased Keane most, who was joined in the dugout by assistant and former Boys in Green ace Rory Delap.

The duo worked together at Maccabi Tel Aviv and Thursday was their first game in front of the noisy Ferencvaros faithful.

Keane — who replaced Pascal Jansen in Budapest — says he is committed to playing “exciting” football at the 35-time Hungarian champions.

And while he says it will take time for his players to fully grasp what he wants, a four-goal show is a good start — especially after defeat to a strong Eintracht Frankfurt side last week.

The ex-Spurs striker said: “If I’m being honest, I said a couple of weeks ago that it might take four weeks but I was pleased with Thursday because I didn’t think they’d get it as quick.

“There’s still a learning period for the lads.

“You have to understand from their point of view, they’ve had three managers in one year I think. Every manager was different.

“The manager before me was different from how I want to play.

“You see how I want to play and the way I played previous in terms of intensity and getting goals.

“I thought it was going to be another maybe week or so.

“I’m not saying they have it yet but they’re starting to understand it.

“I think once you understand it, it becomes second nature and it will be just normal.”

EXTRA EDGE

Keane was blown away by the home support too.

He purred: “It was fantastic, they were singing the whole game, even when we conceded in the last few minutes.

“They were still pushing the team, pushing the players.

“I imagine we can try and make this place a fortress because you’ve got the fans, they are certainly very, very loud.”

Ferencvaros will play Czechs Viktoria Plzen in their knockout play-off.

Speaking before yesterday’s draw, Keane said: “I don’t care who we play against. Most teams are going to be good teams.”

The 19-year-old looked incredible as he was snapped on the runway at the Lena Erziak Haute Couture Spring-Summer 2025 show.

Wearing a backless black suit and lace-up shoes, the fresh-faced model oozed sophistication during the show at Hotel Le Marois in the French capital.

His black dreadlocks were pinned on top of his head and he wore an oversized black scarf with gold brooch.

The man in question’s name is Henry Günther Ademola Dashtu Samuel – but do you know who is parents are?

Henry is in fact the son of Hollywood A-listers Seal and Heidi Klum.

Born in Los Angeles, Henry is the second eldest of the English singer and the America’s Got Talent judge’s four children.

They are also parents to daughter Leni, 20, son Johan, 18, and 15-year-old daughter Lou and, although the couple kept them away from the limelight as youngsters.

Leni, who Seal formerly adopted when she was five, has already followed in her mother’s footsteps and is a successful model.

But former Project Runway host Heidi was keen to keep her out of the industry until she was 16.

In a previous interview, Leni revealed that her mum had refused an offer for her to model for a US fashion brand aged just 12.

She said: “I was really sad about it, but in the end she was right. And I feel like that’s what sparked me to want to model more.”

Leni’s first modelling gig ended up being for the cover of German Vogue.

Henry, however, insists he didn’t grow up aspiring to walk the runways.

Speaking to the same publication at a later date, he said: “I have many interests – sports, music, film and fashion.

“I want to use the different creative experiences that are available to me to find the right path for my future.”

However, he added that Leni and his supermodel mum were already giving him pointers on modelling.

“Leni told me to look straight ahead and walk as if I was balancing a book on my head,” he said. “My mother told me to do my best and not forget to have fun.”

Heidi has now shared her pride at Henry making his modelling debut at Paris Fashion Week.

Writing on Instagram, she said: “So proud of you Henry – Opening the Lena Erziak Haute Couture Show in Paris ❤❤❤ @henrysamle @lena_erziak.”

Brooklyn Beckham snubbed by wife Nicola Peltz as she brutally cuts him out of film she directed him in

BROOKLYN Beckham has been snubbed by his wife Nicola Peltz, as she brutally cut him out of a film she directed him in.

The star couple married in 2022, at a Miami ceremony that reportedly cost £3M, and was attended by all manner of A-list celebrities.

And despite being inseparable and often posting loved-up snaps together, Nicola decided not to include her hubby in her new flick.

The 30-year-old had been working on a directorial debut for 2024 movie Lola.

And Brooklyn was given the role of background work by Nicola, and he even requested a speaking role.

But Nicola has now revealed that she edited out his speaking role and said Brooklyn is “still mad.”

Taking to the Hollywood Reporter, Nicola explained: “I directed a film last year that I wrote when I was 23. And Brooklyn is still mad at me. He was like, ‘Can I be in your movie?’ And I was like, ‘Oh my gosh, I would be honoured, but we have to disguise you.’

“Obviously he’s covered in tattoos and he’s British. So he did a few parts in the background which, if you pay attention, you can find, but in one scene he’s like ‘Can I put the mic on, I wanna say a line?’”

Nicola said this caused her to “laugh so hard,” as she added: “He had the most British accent ever. I ended up cutting him out! He sat there, in the editing room, he was like, ‘Did you really just cut me out while I’m sitting here?’ I was like, ‘Yes, I love you so much!'”

In the film, Nicola plays a young woman who struggles to save enough money to get her little brother out of their toxic home.

In a series of cliches she turns to stripping and taking drugs, before becoming a teenage mum.

Lola, which premiered on February 9, with a limited theatrical and digital release, marks Nicola‘s writing and directorial debut, and her first leading role.

But according to the Daily Mail, Brooklyn was devastated that he wasn’t included.

A source said: “Brooklyn loves doing different things. He is always looking for the next thing, when it comes to Brand Brooklyn he’s clever, he has watched his parents build theirs for his whole life.

“Being in a film which is now coming to Britain would have been amazing for him and in his mind could have led to more.

“But the fact is, he just wasn’t very good. Nicola had the chance of a lifetime to make her mark as a film director. She had to let him go, she laughs about it but it was a hard thing for her to do.”

But it was bad luck for Nicola too, as due to the film’s “out of touch cliches” surrounding poverty issues, the movie was panned by critics.

Some even went as far as to call it “poverty porn”.

This means the film is being accused of exploiting poverty for entertainment and artistic recognition.

The movie was meant to see Nicola step into the big league, as a leading lady and also a director.

Since kicking off her acting career at the age of 11 she had small roles in movies like Transformers.
