HIDDEN in near the Serra da Estrela mountains of central Portugal is a gorgeous little town that is untouched by tourism.
The beautiful spot is located in the district of Castelo Branco in the sunshine country of Portugal.
It is covered in gorgeous beaches, so relaxing in the sun will not be a problem.
Belmonte is known for its Jewish community, dating back to the 13th century and is covered in history.
To take in all the history, visitors can head to the Belmonte Jewish Museum which opened in 2005.
Throughout the area, you can see a range of megalithic sites dating back 6,000 years.
You can also find stunning archaeological findings throughout the lands.
It is perfect for art enthusiasts, as it was the birthplace of poet Fray Luis de Leon.
The town also has an impressive 15th-century fortress.
And the old town is even classed as a Property of Cultural Interest.
While walking through the town, you can enjoy noble buildings and monuments with loads of heritage and culture.
The castle, which shelters Dona Juana la Beltraneja, might look familiar, as it’s where a number of movies have been shot.
Located on a hillside, the exterior complex is secured with a Gothic gate, and connects to the city walls which run through the town.
Inside, you can see the Mudéjar coffered ceilings, the plasterwork and the Gothic reliefs.
You can also enjoy the palace-alcázar of Don Juan Manuel.
The city walls, which date back to the 15th century used to have five access gateways.
Three of these remain: San Juan, Chinchilla and Puerta Nueva.
Visitors can also head to the Gothic church of San Bartolomé.
Its construction was led by some of the greatest artisans of that time, and it also has choir stalls from the Cuenca Cathedral.
The church also houses the font of Friar Luis de León.
The old Jesuit Monastery is another historic site, made up of Baroque construction from the 17th century.
Its cloister is part of Plaza Muñoz Grandes, and the rest of the building houses the Courts and the Post Office building.
The city has many different delicious dishes to try, and a pint costs just €2.50.
Temperatures remain in the teens throughout the winter, making it perfect for a warm getaway.
Ryanair offer direct flights to Porto Airport which take just under two and a half hours.
The flights start from €40.
FREEVIEW users will have a premium sport treat on their TVs tomorrow from Sky.
The broadcaster’s free Sky Mix channel will offer the first day of a major tournament to everyone, despite usually being paid-for on Sky Sports.
From 7pm to 11pm on Thursday, the channel will show the opening of the Premier League Darts, live from Belfast.
Tomorrow’s broadcast is expected to feature teen darts superstar Luke Littler and Dutch legend Michael van Gerwen among others.
Of course, Sky and Virgin Media customers who don’t pay for sports upgrades can benefit too by watching Sky Mix or Sky Showcase.
But the free launch is for tomorrow (Thursday) only – if you fancy watching the rest of the tournament you’ll need to add Sky Sports to your subscription.
Coverage will continue on Sky’s dedicated darts channel, Sky Sports Darts.
The move comes amid a huge spike in darts interest, with the 2024/25 World Darts Championship seeing a 29 per cent increase in TV audience compared to the previous year.

Sky has just extended a deal with the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) to broadcast the World Darts Championship until 2030.
Sky Mix largely airs classic shows but also has some Sky Originals.

Sky customers can access it in HD on 151 via satellite and 158 on Sky Glass / Sky Stream (or 154 in ROI).
Virgin Media customers can also watch in HD on channel 135.
The Premier League Darts 2025 will be played weekly every Thursday, across the UK with a couple of nights in Europe.
Eurosport recently announced that it is leaving the UK after 35 years with much of its content set to move to TNT Sports.
But bosses from owner Warner Bros Discovery (WBD) have said some programming will appear on its free channel, Quest, meaning those who only have Freeview are in for a boost.
Quest will air every MotoGP Sprint race, as well as a new weekly cycling show, and highlights of the Giro d’Italia and La Vuelta a España.
WBD Sports Europe chief Scott Young has said “parts” of the Tour de France will be shown on Quest too.
The changes are set to come into effect on February 28, when Eurosport will close down.

Justin unfollowed his wife on social media this month, before quickly following her again, claiming his account had been hacked.
He then broke his silence on the matter, with him even refollowing his wife and sharing a statement on his Instagram stories.
Taking to his page, the Baby hitmaker wrote: “SOMEONE WENT ON MY ACCOUNT AND UNFOLLOWED MY WIFE.
“S**T IS GETTING SUSS OUT HERE.”
It was another bizarre moment in their tumultuous relationship.
The couple married in 2018 at a courthouse in New York.
Hailey and Justin were first a couple 10 years ago, before splitting up in 2018.
He then got back together with his former girlfriend Selena Gomez in May of that year.
But that reconciliation only lasted a few weeks and Justin reunited with Hailey for good.
