Plans to replace the plates, in use since the 1980s, had been delayed[/caption]

Troops will face mortal danger as top brass scramble to find replacements..

The flaws were discovered in ceramic plates known as enhanced combat body armour.

The Army, Navy and RAF have at least 120,000 sets.

Armed Forces minister John Healey says in a letter to chiefs: “I will not accept a make do and mend approach to the safety or operational capability of our people.

“I know you will not either.”

Plans to replace the plates, in use since the 1980s, had been delayed. Labour blames Tory cuts.

Some can switch to Osprey and Virtus kit but Marine Commandos and sailors at sea are banned from using those as the extra weight might drown them.

Every plate is being tested for flaws. So far’ one in 10 has failed.

The MoD said: “As a precaution, its use has been suspended in all but unavoidable circumstances.”

Dozens of A-list celebs set to be dragged into Blake Lively’s legal war with ex co-star Justin Baldoni

DOZENS of A-list celebrities are set to be dragged into Blake Lively’s legal war with Justin Baldoni, it emerged last night.

A court in New York heard that a “significant number of high profile individuals” are set to be called on to give evidence in the case.

They are likely to include Lively’s husband, Wrexham owner Ryan Reynolds, and pop superstar Taylor Swift, one of her best friends.

Lawyers for Lively, 37, claimed last night that the sexual harassment she allegedly endured at the hands of Baldoni, 41, while filming the movie The Ends With Us, which he directed and co-starred in, had been “devastating” for her.

And Baldoni’s lawyers told the court that he was “suffering greatly”, which is why he filed a $400 million defamation case against the Gossip Girl star.

Both cases are being handled at the federal court in New York where it emerged that Lively plans to make fresh allegations soon.

Her lawyer Matthew Gottlieb said they would file a complaint with new claims and new defendants, but he did not specify who.

The filing could come as soon as February 14, the court heard.

Judge Lewis Liman ordered lawyers for both sides to stop making statements outside of court that might influence the jury.

Gottlieb said that Baldon’s lawyer Bryan Freedman had attacked Lively’s “character, integrity and truthfulness” in a series of interviews with the media.

Over the weekend, Freedman uploaded what he has described as “receipts” relating to the case online.

The lawyer launched a website releasing 168 pages of emails, text messages and WhatsApps between Baldoni and Lively.

Freedman defended his actions in court last night saying: “Not to sound like a four-year-old fighting a four-year-old with ‘but they started it’ but once someone says something it becomes fact, there’s no way to fight against it.

“You start to lose things without the ability to have the court’s adjudication. This was not started by us.”

Lively hit Baldoni with a sex harassment complaint in December.

Baldoni responded last month by filing a civil suit against Lively, Reynolds, 48, and their publicist Leslie Sloan for extortion, defamation and invasion of privacy.

He is also suing the New York Times newspaper for defamation after it reported that Baldoni had hired a PR crisis management team to “bury” Lively.
