Emmerdale car crash horror puts villagers lives at risk as limo crashes into frozen lake

VILLAGERS’ lives will be at risk as a limo crash is set to wreak horror in Emmerdale.

Fans of the ITV1 soap will watch as the vehicle will be left teetering on the edge of a frozen lake.

Two limos will be involved in separate crashes in a flash-forward episode[/caption]

Emmerdale will air the scenes as part of a dramatic flash-forward episode as a person desperately tries break through the lake’s icy surface.

The scene is set when Liam asks Aaron for Chas’ hand in marriage and plans to win a raffle for a romantic night away.

However, he ultimately loses the draw to Kerry who turns her win into a big girls night out.

Liam later begs Suzie to find him another limo company so he can carry out his proposal and announces his own night out to hide his surprise.

As the special episode jumps in time, viewers will see the two groups set off in their respective limos, with Charity and Caleb assuming the roles of drivers after the cars were dropped off without chauffeurs.

While the girls’ limo is chaotic as they unwind and have fun, the scene in the boys’ vehicle is the polar opposite.

Unbeknownst to Cain, Caleb is still livid and is determined to avoid being near his brother – with a row later breaking out.

In two separate incidents, both limos swerve off the road in harrowing scenes.

One car has crashed into a frozen lake, as the ice cracks and the group inside facing a perilous position.

Emmerdale will air these scenes from Monday, February 10th at 7:30pm on ITV1 and ITX.

Speaking about the horror scenes, Jonny McPherson – who plays Liam – said: “Liam plans to propose to Chas but do it in an exciting and romantic manner. He’s heard Take A Vow have organised a valentine raffle, with the prize being a trip in a limousine.

“So Liam decides he’s going to buy up about eighty percent of the tickets, just to make sure he’s the winner. Sadly, that doesn’t turn out to be the case – as Kerry wins.

“So poor Liam is then forced to come up with another plan to ensure he can still go through with proposing in a limo to Chas. So acquires another limo hired from Suzy and hopes his plan is sorted and back on track.

“But then he learns the girls have decided to have an entirely girls night hour in their limo, so Chas is no longer free that evening. He feels a bit defeated so it ends up with Liam suggesting that the lads could all have a night out in the other limousine.”

Most devastating soap deaths

SOAP viewers are frequently left heartbroken after watching some of their favourite characters bite the dust.

Here is a list of the most devastating deaths that have taken place in soapland over the years.

EASTENDERS

Barry Evans – Evil Janine (Charlie Brooks) lured her trusting fiance to Scotland for a quickie marriage after learning he was dying.

Her plan to inherit Barry’s fortune was thwarted when Barry told her that the doctors had mixed up his medical files.

Furious that she was no longer set for a windfall, she pushed Barry off a cliff after telling him their love was “fake”.

Bradley Branning – Bradley was accused of killing Stacey Slater’s rapist Archie Mitchell (Larry Lamb) after he punched him twice on the night he died.

He was spotted in the Square by a police woman who chased him up a fire escape.

Bradley lost his balance and tragically plunged to his death.

CORONATION STREET

Tina McIntyre – Tina was getting it on with Peter Barlow – despite him being married to Carla Connor.

When she threatened to reveal the truth, Carla’s brother Rob got into a physical altercation with her.

Tina lost her footing and fell off a balcony – then warned Rob she was going to tell the cops he pushed her.

In a panic, Rob brutally clobbered her over the head with a metal pipe.

Molly Dobbs – Molly was one of the victims in Corrie’s 2010 tram crash, alongside Ashley Peacock (Steven Arnold).

Married to Tyrone (Alan Halsall), Molly had been having an affair with Kevin Webster (Michael Le Vell) in the months before her death.

This resulted in the birth of their son, Jack (Kyran Bowes), who was named after Jack Duckworth.

As fate would have it, Kevin’s wife Sally (Sally Dynevor) was by Molly’s side in her final moments.

Sally was stunned as Molly confessed Kevin was Jack’s father, before dying of her injuries.

Vera Duckworth – Having appeared regularly in Corrie since the 1970s, there was no denying Vera Duckworth was an iconic character.

Alongside her husband Jack, the pair formed one of the soap’s most beloved couples.

Viewers were heartbroken when Vera was killed off in 2008, being discovered having passed away peacefully in her chair.

Liz Dawn, who played Vera, made a brief return two years later for Bill Tarmey’s exit as Jack.

Paul Foreman – Fans were heartbroken when Paul Foreman succumbed to his illness after battling motor neurone disease.

Introduced in 2018 as David Platt’s (Jack P. Shepherd) cellmate, he later embarked on a romance – and marriage – with vicar Billy Mayhew.

The MND storyline was announced in 2023 – with the expectation it would result in the character’s death.

EMMERDALE

Sarah Sugden – After the family got into financial problems, Sarah’s son Andy (Kelvin Fletcher) decided to make some quick cash from an insurance company by setting fire to the Sugden barn.

He didn’t realise his mum was inside the building, and she got trapped in the blaze.

Nine villagers – The shocking 1993 plane crash episode brought in 18 million viewers for Emmerdale.

Mark Hughes was killed by a falling wall, Archie Brooks was burned by jet fuel, Elizabeth Pollard was killed by debris and newcomer Leonard Kempinski died in a car crash caused by the crash.

Five other non-recurring characters from the village also died.

HOLLYOAKS

Carmel McQueen – The talented singer died in shocking scenes when a train crashed into a her family’s car.

Carmel managed to free her cousin Theresa from the rubble – but got stuck in it herself.

Moments later the train exploded and Carmel died in the arms of her family members, promising to be their guardian angel.

And according to The Ring Magazine – now owned by Saudi boxing supremo Turki Alalshikh – an agreement has been struck.

The fight is set for a weekend in September in Vegas for Canelo’s 168lb super-middleweight world titles.

And it is added that the blockbuster bout is headed for the Allegiant Stadium – where the Las Vegas Raiders play in the NFL.

The stadium opened in 2020 and cost $2BILLION (£1.6bn) to construct and can hold up to 65,000 fans.

It has long been targeted for a major boxing event with Canelo, 34, and Crawford, 37, to be the first to headline a fight there.

Canelo has boxed at the Dallas Cowboys’ stadium in Texas before – with 73,000 fans watching his 2020 win over Billy Joe Saunders.

The boxing great has fought twice a year – in May and September – for the last three years.

Canelo has occupied Cinco de Mayo in May and Mexican Independence Weekend in September during that period.

It is not clear whether he will fight this May but IBF champion William Skull is a rumoured opponent for the interim.

Canelo holds the WBC, WBA and WBO super-middleweight titles but he was forced to vacate the IBF version.

Skull, 32, won the vacant title and Canelo could now fight him before Crawford in order to regain his undisputed throne.

Crawford meanwhile moved up to super-welterweight in his last fight in August to defeat Israil Madrimov, 29, for the 154lb WBA title.

But he would have to jump a further TWO divisions to fight Canelo.

Yankee candles are being flogged for £3 at your local supermarket – and they aren’t even the rubbish Christmas leftovers

IT’S arguably the most popular candle brand in the world.

But Yankee Candles don’t come in cheap – with the biggest ones setting you back a whopping £31.99.

So it’s no wonder fans of the scented classics are racing to their local supermarket to stock up on Yankees reduced to just £3 a pop.

And they aren’t even the rubbish Christmas leftovers you often see left on the shelf after the festive season ends.

Melanie took to the Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK group on Facebook to share a snap of the two she’d managed to nab in Tesco – creamy coconut and cosy cotton.

“Yankee candles £3 at Tesco (had loads!)” she wrote alongside the picture.

And other shoppers quickly took to the comments section to weigh in, with many admitting they were already planning a trip to their local supermarket on the hunt for the bargain buys.

“Which Tesco?” one person asked.

To which Melanie replied: “Eastbourne, but I presume it’s all stores that sell them.”

“Let’s go tomorrow lol,” another added, tagging a friend.

“Keep a lookout for the coconut one,” a third instructed a pal.

“Love a Yankee me….not that I’ve got loads or out,” someone else said.

“Like me after Christmas – I went mad looking and getting more,” another admitted.

“I have the Coconut one, smells good!” someone else wrote.

However, another pointed out that there’s a reason the candles Melanie found were so cheap.

And that’s because they’re actually from Yankee’s Home Inspiration range, and retail at full price for around £6.

“Not the original Yankee candles,” they wrote.

“They’re Home Inspiration – good bargain though!”

For those that can’t afford Yankee Candles regularly, there are more than a few knockoffs on the market.

One such dupe is the Sweet Blossom candle in Aldi, which is the store’s version of Yankee’s much-loved Sugared Blossom scent.

Posting a picture of the dupe she’d managed to buy in the store on the bargain hunter Facebook page, Chloe wrote alongside it: “£3 in Aldi and smells exactly the same as the Yankee sugared blossom!”

“Definitely saving a few ££,” she added.

“Burning it now and can smell it all over the house,” one person wrote in the comments.

“Bought some of these for Xmas and they are exactly like Yankee, will defo be getting these in future,” another vowed.

“Oh I love YC sugared blossom,” a third gushed.

“Savers are doing it just now for a tenner for the large jar.”

But Bradford boss Graham Alexander has high hopes for the left-back.

Alexander said:  “We believe Tayo will give us strong options down the left side. He has blistering pace and showed that against us earlier this season.

“His attributes are ideal for how we play and he is hungry to show his quality. I am sure he will enjoy his time with us.”

Adaramola – who spent the second half of last season with Belgian outfit Molenbeek – said: “I am really happy to get the opportunity to play for such a big club, I just can’t wait to get going.”

‘I’ve got that burden off my back’ – Kyren Wilson reveals why he plans to play in EVERY snooker tournament

KYREN WILSON plans to play in every tournament unlike Ronnie O’Sullivan and Judd Trump to install a “fear factor” in baize rivals.

The Warrior lifted a third ranking title this season following a 10-9 victory over Barry Hawkins in the German Masters final, which finished past midnight local time.

Wilson, 33, has improved since his maiden Crucible success last May and is not looking to skip any tournaments this year like the Rocket or Juddernaut often do.

The world champion – who earned £100,000 for the victory in Germany – said: “I’m just riding the crest of a wave.

“I wanted to make the most of winning the world championship and kick-on and try to win more and more and more.

“I have got such an air of confidence about me now. It’s been an incredible season so far.

“I have been close in the two Triple Crown events since becoming world champion – semis in the UK Championship and final of the Masters.

“It’s so hard to have a break when you feel like you can go to any event and win it.

“I’d be gutted to sit at home and see one of my opponents win an event and think: Why am I not there myself?’

“If you take your foot off the gas, you can quite easily go missing for a long period of time.

“So I think it’s important to keep grinding, keep going and the more you win, the more of a force you become – and install that fear factor into people if you keep turning up and winning.”

To illustrate his commitment to the schedule, Wilson is set to play six times over the next two days – Tuesday and Wednesday – in the behind-closed-doors Championship League in Leicester.

It means more time away from his Kettering home but he feels it is worth it to build on what he did last year in South Yorkshire.

The father-of-two said: “You have to be ruthless. You have to be quite selfish and it’s very hard to do that with a young family.

“My kids barely see me. I’m here, there and everywhere, but at the same time you have to look at the positives.

“There are more opportunities, more chances to win. New destinations to go and visit. I’m trying to thrive off it.

“It’s just that inner belief. I’ve got that burden off my back of being a potential world champion.

“It’s all well and good people saying you can do it, but until you have done it you’ve got so much pressure on your shoulders.

“Now that’s gone, I’m just embracing life and embracing my career and I’m loving being a snooker player.”

Wilson had a dramatic buzz cut before flying to Berlin last month but despite potting in a hair-raising final that went to a 19th frame, he is not going to turn future trims into a superstition before his next appearances.

He laughed: “It’s growing now. I’m to start run through my fingers through it. Hopefully at the next event it won’t be so drastic.”

‘Persistent’ rain to end as Met Eireann pinpoint sunshine before freezing -2C temperature drop causes frost & ice

WEATHER bosses confirmed that wet and “persistent” rain is hitting Ireland this week – but pinpointed when a major switch sets in.

Today is starting out with heavy and “noisy” rainfall, particularly in the east of the country.

24-hour precipitation forecast map for Ireland and parts of Great Britain.
Rain will remain in some areas this week
Ireland temperature forecast map.
Temperatures are expected to see a major drop

However, weather experts said this won’t be here to stay, with a shift in conditions due to arrive as the morning moves on.

Alan O’Reilly from Carlow Weather said: “That was a noisy night and still pretty rough in the Eastern half of country with heavy rain and wind.

“It will clear later this morning with sunny spells and scattered showers moving in from West.”

And Met Eireann confirmed that better weather will soon arrive on Irish shores.

Met Eireann’s Gerry Murphy said: “It’s a wet morning across much of Ireland with persistent rain, however this rain will gradually clear to the south east by noon.

“Sunshine and showers will follow for the rest of the day, some of them heavy with hail possible especially in parts of the west and north. Highest temperatures today of 7C to 10C.”

Tonight is looking to again see those clear spells continue as showers begin to completely die out, but it will bring along a major drop in temperatures.

Met Eireann has also issued a warning that ice and frost may develop in some areas overnight.

Gerry said: “Tonight will become mainly dry with long clear spells as the showers die out early in the night and become isolated with just a few along the Atlantic coast.

“Lowest temperatures tonight of -1C to 3C with some frost and ice forming.”

The rest of the week will then see high pressure dominating, bringing dry, clear conditions but that drop in overnight temperatures will remain persistent.

He said: “From tomorrow onwards through the rest of the week and the weekend, the weather over Ireland is going to be mainly dry as high pressure dominates the weather over Ireland but it will become colder with frost at night.”

Wednesday will be mainly dry with only a few light showers hitting the west and north west, mainly impacting coastal areas.

“For tomorrow Wednesday itself it will be a mainly dry day with good spells of sunshine and just a few light showers near west and north west coasts. Highest temperatures of 7C to 10C.

ICE & FROST RETURN

“Tomorrow night is going to be dry with clear spells but temperatures will fall to between -2C and 2C with frost and icy patches.”

Thursday will see another similar day, with higher daytime temperatures before ice and frost return with colder conditions overnight.

Gerry said: “Thursday will be largely dry with sunny spells though it may be a bit cloudier in the south west for a time.

“Highest temperatures of 7C to 10C and then at night cold with frost developing as temperatures fall to between -2C and 2C.”

Next weekend will again see mostly dry weather, this time with some more cloud and a further drop in overnight temperatures.

Gerry said: “Friday, Saturday and Sunday will be largely dry with sunny spells but perhaps a bit more cloud over the weekend.

The nights will be cold with temperatures between -3C and 2C with some frost.”
