The club will continue to challenge for the Premier League title with Kai Havertz as the sole striker option.
Mikel Arteta, however, did scramble to find a new striker before the winter window slammed shut.
Despite links to stars such as Benjamin Sesko and Ollie Watkins, the club came close to signing a former Blue.
The Athletic have claimed that Arsenal held talks with the agent of Alvaro Morata during the trip to Girona last week.
The Gunners beat the LaLiga side in the Champions League but took the chance to explore some transfer business.
The club spoke to the representatives of Espanyol goalkeeper Joan Garcia.
The stopper’s agent also represents Alvaro Morata.
Arsenal were believed to be keen on a loan deal for the AC Milan star.

Morata, 32, played at Chelsea between 2017 and 2020.
However, he was sent out on loan to Atletico Madrid for his final year after falling out of favour.
Morata netted 24 times in 72 appearances for Chelsea in all competitions.

A 72-YEAR-OLD woman has revealed how she has paid off her mortgage after ditching her Christian life to become an escort.
Caroline Vee, from the UK, was in her 60s when she had her sexual awakening.
Caroline Vee reveals how she ditched her Christina life to become an escort in her 60s[/caption]
The sex worker says it’s common for people to fantasise about grans[/caption]
Speaking on This Morning, she revealed how she gave up a life of God after forty years in the church to live out her fantasies.
She said: “In the church, I had become disillusioned because my life was not good, I thought ‘I don’t really believe this anymore.'”
Caroline who was working as a florist at the time had spent forty years of her life dedicated to her religion but it all came to a halt when a 27-year-old rugby player began flirting with her at work.
“I was 57 at the time, we never met but we used to do flirty stuff on the phone,” she explained.
“Then he propositioned me and asked me to come over, I thought it was a joke but then he asked where I was when I didn’t turn up.”
Caroline admits she was ‘too shy’ to meet with him but decided to look on dating sites instead.
There, she was inundated with messages from men as young as 18 who wanted to meet with her for a good time.
But Caroline, who has admitted to sleeping with men in their 20s, says they were too young as they were old enough to be her son.
Finally, she met someone her own age and recalls performing oral sex for the first time.
She admitted that he thought she was ‘very good at it’, and was told she had a ‘gift.’
The 72-year-old has managed to pay off her mortgage and loves her newfound sex life[/caption]
This Morning’s co-host Ben Shephard revealed it was quite the compliment, and Caroline agreed saying: “It is when you haven’t done anything for 40 years.”
By this point, Caroline was meeting up with men from the site constantly for a bit of fun, as well as participating in swinging parties.
Some of the men she had met had said she should think about escorting so she could get paid and Caroline was keen to look into it.
I couldn’t make that kind of money anywhere else, I’m loving it.
Caroline Vee
“Well if you can get paid for it why not? You’re still meeting the same people and doing the same thing,” she added.
After her account was created, Caroline began paying for her services, and makes around £3,000 a month.
Is sex work legal in the UK?
The exchange of sexual services for money is legal in the UK (apart from in Northern Ireland where it's illegal to pay for sex).
But, these related activities are illegal under the Sexual Offences Act 2003:
soliciting (trying to get clients) on the street or other public place, including someone in a vehicle
paying for the services of a sex worker who’s forced or threatened into it
owning or managing a brothel (any premises which is used by more than one person for sex work)
pimping (someone who has control over sex workers and the money they earn)
advertising sexual services, including putting cards in phone boxes
She’s also been able to quit her florist job after sex work paid off her mortgage.
“I’m making £3,000 a month – covering everything, videos, webcam, escorting – I couldn’t make that kind of money anywhere else, I’m loving it, that’s why I want to continue,” Caroline said.
“I’ll carry on as long as I’m able to and I’m providing a lovely service to guys who have all kinds of fantasies.”
She also revealed that there are a lot of younger men who fantasise about being with a gran as they do a better job of helping them than younger women.
“They feel comfortable with us, girls their age can be unhelpful, so they like older ladies because we are relaxed with them and help them,” Caroline claims.
But it hasn’t always been smooth sailing, while she loves her job her family has now disowned her.
Caroline, who has never been married or had children, says her siblings refuse to speak to her after finding out about her escorting role.
Now the sex worker wants to help other mature women feel liberated and wants others to join her.
“I couldn’t do it if I didn’t enjoy it, I want more older ladies to think ‘I could do that,'” she said.
Viewers have been left stunned by Caroline and many took to the comments section of the clip to share their thoughts.

Heart-healthy living includes getting regular exercise, managing stress, limiting alcohol and red meat, practicing good sleep hygiene, and controlling blood pressure and cholesterol levels. But one practice that’s equally as important yet often overlooked is dental care. New research suggests that certain oral hygiene habits can boost your cardiovascular health, specifically when it comes to stroke risk.
Research found that oral hygiene can impact your cardiovascular health.
Much research has been conducted on oral hygiene and cardiovascular health.
Colgate explains it well: "As the Cleveland Clinic reports, research has shown that, if the oral bacteria responsible for gum disease find a way into the bloodstream, they may cause C-reactive protein levels to rise. This elevation can indicate inflammation in the blood vessels and, ultimately, signal an increase in that person's risk of stroke and heart disease."
A new preliminary study presented at the American Stroke Association’s International Stroke Conference indicates that adults can lower their risk of stroke with good oral hygiene. As for which habit (flossing, brushing, or visiting the dentist) has a more significant impact on cardiovascular health, the study’s author analyzed the oral hygiene behaviors of more than 6,000 adults.
"A recent global health report revealed that oral diseases—such as untreated tooth decay and gum disease—affected 3.5 billion people in 2022, making them the most widespread health conditions," said study lead author Souvik Sen, MD, in a press release. "We aimed to determine which oral hygiene behavior—dental flossing, brushing or regular dentist visits—has the greatest impact on stroke prevention."
Daily flossing was linked to lower risks of stroke and irregular heartbeat.
Not flossing can contribute to built-up bacteria and inflammation in and around the gums, increasing your stroke risk, per the study’s findings.
An at-home oral hygiene assessment found that 4,092 of the participants had no stroke prevalence, and 4,050 had no history of AFib (an irregular heartbeat). The common denominator? They all regularly flossed.
Participants were monitored over the course of 25 years, during which time flossing was linked with a 22 percent lower risk of ischemic stroke (when blood flow is cut off to the brain), 44 percent lower risk of cardioembolic stroke (when a blood clot forms in the heart), and 12 percent lower risk of AFib.
"Oral health behaviors are linked to inflammation and artery hardening. Flossing may reduce stroke risk by lowering oral infections and inflammation and encouraging other healthy habits," explained Sen. "Many people have expressed that dental care is costly. Flossing is a healthy habit that is easy to adopt, affordable and accessible everywhere."
However, a 2016 CDC survey found that over one-third of Americans never floss.
"When you're brushing, you're only getting certain surfaces of the tooth," Dee Dee Meevasin, DMD, owner of Dee for Dentist, previously shared with Best Life. "Flossing gets into those crevices where a brush cannot reach—under the gums and between the teeth—to mechanically remove bacteria."
Routine flossing not only boosts dental health (preventing cavities and gum disease), but your cardiovascular health, too.
Looking towards the future, American Heart Association EPI and Stroke Council member Daniel T. Lackland, DrPH, said he would like to see researchers dive into the correlation between specific dental health practices and other risk factors, including diet, physical activity, nicotine consumption, sleep, blood pressure, body mass, and more. Lackland was not involved in the study.

PETER O’MAHONY’S wife Jessica joked “Ralph has made it to Netflix” after posting a video of her son reacting to his cameo in the Six Nations documentary.
The second season of the doc focused on the 2024 Championship, which Ireland won for back-to-back titles.
Peter O’Mahony captained Ireland to that honour, having succeeded Johnny Sexton as skipper following his retirement after the RugbyWorld Cup.
The Netflix doc showed a number of clips of Ireland players and fans celebrating, including O’Mahony and his young son Ralph.
Jessica shared a precious video of Ralph watching his celebrations with his dad, commenting: “Ralph made it to Netflix”.
O’Mahony started the game on the bench, with Caelan Doris filling in as captain.
Simon Easterby – who is filling in as interim head coach during Andy Farrell‘s secondment with the Lions – will be hoping to build on that result when they face Scotland.
He said: “It was tough and physical and what you expect from an Ireland-England game.
“The first half, it was the first round of the Six Nations…it’s always going to be a bit of an arm wrestle so we had to find a way.
“I thought we played well in the first half, we didn’t quite get our accuracy right which is why they were leading.
“But we cleaned it up in the second half. The guys coming off the bench benefited from the work done by the guys who started, it was a tough attritional game.
“We know we need to be better next weekend. It sets us up for next week but it will be incredibly tough.”
The Tartan Army have not beaten Ireland since 2017 when they inflicted defeat on the side then-coached by Joe Schmidt.
The scrum-half said: “That’s the case for a lot of teams now. We’ve kind of been near enough to the top of the rankings for a while.
“I know myself that if I’m coming up against a quality side you want to put your best performance out there. Next week will be no different.”
Scotland view themselves as potential champions and the Leinster star agreed: “One hundred per cent. They’re a classy side.
“They’re playing good footie and they’re stacked full of really good individuals, so it will be a tough challenge. I know it’s been a long time since they won but there’s no reason they can’t.
“But what a place to go and what an opportunity for us to go there and have a crack at them.”

A WORLD War Two warship mystery has finally been solved after the wreck snagged on a fisherman’s net.
The Vital de Oliveira had disappeared for 81 years after it was torpedoed by the Nazis killing 100 people.
The Vital de Oliveira warship has finally been found 81 years after it was hit[/caption]
A Brazilian Navy research vessel confirmed the incredible WW2 discovery[/caption]
The Navy used sonar technology to picture the boat on the sea bed[/caption]
This war boat had been the only Brazilian Navy vessel lost to the enemy in World War Two when it sank in 1944.
The ship was hit just before midnight on July 19 and took just three minutes to disappear under the night waves.
The Vital de Oliveira had been lost to history for 81 years until a fisherman’s net became tangled in one of the ship’s guns.
This incredible shipwreck was found some 40 miles off shore from the municipality of Macaé, Brazil – around 100 miles north of Rio de Janeiro.
Scientists then used sonar technology to confirm the lost warship had been found.
Lieutenant Captain Caio Cezar Pereira Demilio of the Brazilian Navy, who participated in the survey, revealed how they made this incredible discovery.
He said: “The location and documentation of the shipwreck were conducted using a multibeam echo sounder and side-scan sonar.
“This is essential equipment for hydrographic and archaeological surveys, especially in the field of shipwreck archaeology.”
Although this World War Two wreck has only just been confirmed, these recent fishermen were not the first to come across the boat.
It was first discovered in 2011 by diving brothers José Luiz and Everaldo Pompermayer Meriguete.
They were alerted by a fisherman whose net became stuck to the seabed.
The duo, called in deep-sea diver Domingos Afonso Jório, found the net entangled in a cannon.
They alerted the Navy but the discovery was confirmed 14 years later.
WAR LOSS
The Vital de Oliveira was sunk by the U-861 U-boat.
The German submarine attacked when dozens of men were dozing though their rest shift.
This warships stern was ripped open, and the force of the blast reportedly toppled a “load of wood”, blocking passages that were needed for escape.
Some of the wood would later float to the surface, creating a lifeline for the survivors, who’d faced “strong whirlpools” when the ship went down.
The U-861 survived the war, and was surrendered at Trondheim, Norway, before being scuttled off the coast of Ireland on December 31, 1945.
It’s captain Jürgen Oesten would live to the age of 96, passing away on August 5, 2010.

Car Auctions: How To Nab A Bargain
Car auctions are a way to sell vehicles based on a bidding system with the highest offer securing the deal.
Auctions aren’t restricted to the rich and famous as thousands of cars are sold at motor auctions in the UK each week.
Here’s what you need to know before attending an auction:
Be prepared: Do your research on the car you would like to purchase beforehand.
Check the car: Cars will usually be lined up before the start, so make sure to arrive early to inspect the desired car thoroughly.
Have a back-up: Be ready for disappointment as your desired motor may be sold to someone else and select a few back-ups.
Be realistic: Realise that there won’t be a “perfect” car at an auction and adjust expectations accordingly.
Set a budget: It is easy to overspend in the heat of the moment during bidding. Ensure you have set a budget and do not go over it.
Key phrases to look out for:
‘No major mechanical faults’ – suggests that there shouldn’t be any issues with the car’s drivetrain, gearbox, suspension, or engine.
‘Specified faults’ – the auctioneer will read out specific faults.
‘Sold as seen’ – the vehicle is sold with any problems it may have. The auction company will rarely entertain complaints regarding the mechanical or cosmetic condition of these vehicles after sale.
‘Sold with a warranted mileage’ – The car is being offered based on the report, which confirms the mileage through an independent check.
He told his followers: “We think we’ve been scammed not only once but possibly twice.
“Once by a customer who scammed somebody with their ID to buy a car but the second time quite possibly by the car provider.”
Mike explained how his One Automotive group had advertised a white VW Golf Mk7 GTD for just over £10,000.
An interested driver rang up and promptly offer to buy it and arranged a collection service to pick up the vehicle at Mike’s Leamington Spa base.
Mike admitted that before letting the vehicle go they ran various checks on the buyer’s personal information to process the sale.
Everything appeared to be legitimate and the courier then arrived to pick up the vehicle.
But later, Mike was contacted by his bank who revealed the person charged for the vehicle had disputed the sale.
He explained: “He’s been scammed by somebody who has stolen his ID and stolen his card details and used that to buy a car from me and James at One Automotive.”
Mike finished by offering a warning to anyone selling their car. He said: “If you’re going to sell a car make sure the customer is there in person with ID and with a drivers’ license.
“Check the address, check where they live, and check everything.”
