I live in a SHED with my family of 6 to avoid renting – one bedroom & bathroom is all we need, my husband did the DIY
LIVING in a shed might sound awful, but this family have turned one into their dream home, even if it is slightly cramped.
The shed houses the family of six, despite there only being one bedroom and a total of 768 sq ft.
The mum showed off her tiny home on YouTube[/caption] Inside, the space looks nothing like a shed and has plenty of storage too[/caption]Natalie, who is based in South Carolina, explained how they transformed it with a few savvy DIY tricks on YouTube, leaving people amazed.
“There’s one bedroom, one full bathroom, a large kitchen, dining room area, and a living room and loft,” she explained.
So, where does everyone sleep in a shed with just one bedroom?
Luckily, the space also has a loft area, which is where the older children sleep, while the two youngest sleep in the bedroom with mum and dad.
The cost of the shed and the initial DIY ended up costing $68,000, which would’ve been a lot more if it wasn’t for Natalie’s husband’s savvy skills.
Despite the low cost, shed life appealed to the family for the simple fact that they can live rent free whilst their permanent home is being built.
“We wanted to live on our land and we didn’t want to pay rent, so this was a way to basically live for free,” the mum explained, adding that they’re “too big a family” to live in the shed forever.
And when their forever home is finished, the family can sell the shed to make their money back
Inside, the shed looks a lot bigger than you might imagine thanks to some savvy interior design.
The large kitchen has everything a family of six with four kids 10 and under would need, and the dining nook is perfect for family meals.
As for storage space, there’s plenty of that too, including a cupboard for coats, a printer and more.
There’s also a large kitchen pantry for all their extra food and appliances.
The shed even has a full size washing machine and tumble dryer, the mum revealed.
The open plan living room has a large corner sofa with plenty of space for the whole family, and the bedroom looks like it could be in a swanky hotel, not a shed.
As for the loft where the two eldest children sleep, there are two double mattresses on the floor because of the low ceiling height, but still plenty of room.
After showing off the home on YouTube people were amazed by how posh it looked.
One commented on the video: “Wow…. I am in AWE of what you did in this ‘shed’ for your family. Well Done!”
And a second agreed: “Wow! you did a great job decorating, it looks so cosy and well organised. I love the windows over the sink.”
And another said: “Amazing! Every detail is so well thought out to provide maximum storage and utility while looking fabulous!
“Such a beautiful home but I definitely wouldn’t call it a shed. It’s definitely in a different category.”
Meanwhile, someone else suggested keeping the shed rather than selling it when the family’s permanent home is finished.
They wrote: “The way the future is going, I would keep that house on your property.
“Gives an option for your children to have some what of independence as costs are so high and most 18-25 year olds can’t live on their own.
“Plus, you’re building a larger home. This would be a beautiful mother in law/ guest house or even air bnb.
“It’s beautiful and you guys did an amazing job.”
The rise of tiny homes
By Jonathan Rolande
Property expert Jonathan Rolande told Fabulous: The reason we are seeing more creative ways of finding a home: super-high property prices and rents. Younger people are remaining in the family home later in life to avoid paying high prices and to save for a deposit. With increasingly busy lives, staying within a larger family group makes sense, chores such as gardening and housework can be shared.
Garages are rarely used for their intended purpose as cars are far more reliable and less prone to rust and so are perfectly happy outside. On the other hand, the amount of property space per person has been shrinking – converting a garage can make great sense.
Things to consider. (the boring stuff)
Usually easier than building from scratch but still a lot to do to turn a garage in to a habitable space.
You’ll need to check if you need planning (more likely to be required if the garage is detached).
Building Regulations stipulate many things to make homes safe and secure. Consider
Walls, are they cavity?
Roof height
Windows
How will you get plumbing, electrics and drainage connected
Insulation – it will be cold!
Fire safety
Damp proofing
Also consider if, by converting, you are adding or deducting value from the main home. Garages can add value in busy urban areas where parking is limited.
KSI announces Wayne Bridge replacement for Misfits Boxing after ex-Chelsea star pulled out over John Terry jibe
KSI has announced the replacement for Wayne Bridge at the next Misfits event.
The former Chelsea, Manchester City and England left-back was due to step into the ring with the YouTuber on March 29.
KSI has announced the Misfits Boxing replacement after Wayne Bridge pulled out[/caption] Dillon Danis will take to the ring to fight KSI[/caption]After the pair went face to face at Misfits 20, where KSI made a brutal jibe at Bridge’s previous relationship with Vanessa Perroncel.
Bridge, 44, then declared the fight was OFF – insisting the “deeply personal comments crossed a line”.
Despite this, social media star KSI has now managed to find a replacement for the bout.
After delaying the announcement from 5pm to 6pm, it was announced across both the YouTuber’s and Mistfits Boxing social media pages that the replacement would be Dillon Danis.
In 2010, it was claimed John Terry – a former team-mate of Bridge – had an affair with Vanessa the year before – although the ex-model has always denied it.
KSI taunted: “Wayne Bridge, aren’t you the guy that let John Terry smash your ex? That is what you are known for.”
He then sang: “Vanessa Woah, she jumped on Terry’s d***, it made the big boy feel sick.”
KSI also pushed the former footballer in the chest while Bridge had to be held back by three security guards.
Bridge – who famously refused to shake Terry’s hand in the wake of the public scandal – initially appeared to let the comments slide, first responding on Saturday night: “I think that’s just him, innit?
“It’s the cameras, what he does, put him in a room on your own he probably doesn’t do it, something could happen.”
But the 36-cap Three Lions international said: “I’m sure a lot of you have seen what happened on Saturday night at the Misfits Boxing event.
“Firstly, I think it’s important that I explain my reason for accepting the fight. I always like to challenge myself. This felt like a good opportunity to go up against an interesting opponent on a big stage.
“I have always loved boxing as part of my everyday training routine. I was fully prepared to train hard and have some fun.
“Of course, I expected to face some criticism, but I feel like what was said on Saturday crossed a line.
“These are deeply personal comments that affect mine and other families involved in the situation. I’m a family man first and my priority is protecting them.
“My opponent is someone that many children look up to around the world, including my kids. I hope one day he will look back on this differently.
“I personally don’t want to be involved in these exchanges. I will no longer be fighting on 29th March. I’m still looking out for my next big challenge and have some exciting things coming up in 2025.
“Thanks for all the love. The support has been overwhelming. I want my friends and family to know how special they are. Deep down I know this is the right thing to do.”
fellow former footballer Danny Simpson – who drew on his Misfits Boxing debut last year – supported Bridge’s decision to back out following KSI’s controversial comments.
The Leicester City Premier League title winner tweeted: “Disrespecting the ballers. Can’t be having that @KSI @MamsTaylor @MisfitsBoxing.”

Padraig Harrington questions ‘strangest’ PGA Tour ‘Monday Q’ decision ahead of Waste Management Phoenix Open
GOLF legend Padraig Harrington has questioned the PGA Tour’s decision to scrap Monday qualifying for seven of its tournaments on the 2025 schedule.
PGA Tour brass have scaled by the size of their fields by no longer have Monday qualifiers for certain events.
Monday qualifying (often called a ‘Monday Q’) is an official process on the PGA Tour.
It is a structured pathway for non-exempt players to earn a spot in the field for select PGA Tour events.
One of those events happens to be this week’s Waste Management Phoenix Open.
The event which attracts hundreds of thousand through its gates had ‘Monday Q’ for the past 70 years, but now that is a thing of the past with the tour’s latest eligibility criteria change.
And 2024 World Golf Hall of Fame inductee Padraig Harrington is less than impressed with the change.
There have been five Monday qualifier winners since 1980.
Dubliner Harrington called the decision strange before saying that it takes away potential fairy tale stories.
Taking to X, the three-time major winner stated: “This has to be one of the strangest decisions of the PGA Tour when it comes to being in the entertainment business.
“If it was up to me I’d be focusing more on Monday qualifiers. There’s a movie script story nearly every week.
“I’d give the leading qualifier a tv draw and get a tv crew to follow him for the week.
“I would do this even more so in the signature events. We could have a “tin cup” story any given week.
“Could you imagine a struggling pro finishing in the top 10 and winning half a million. Nobody would begrudge that payout.”
How Monday Qualifying Works:
- Open to professionals and amateurs with a USGA handicap index of 2.0 or lower.
- Typically held the Monday before a PGA Tour event (except for majors, invitationals, and certain designated events).
- Four spots are usually available for each tournament.
- 18-hole stroke play format, with the lowest scores securing entry.
- Administered by the PGA Tour, Korn Ferry Tour, and PGA Tour Canada/Latinoamérica.
All Monday Qualifier winners Since 1980
- Corey Conners, 2019 Valero Texas Open
- Arjun Atwal, 2010 Wyndham Championship
- Fred Wadsworth, 1986 Southern Open
- Kenny Knox, 1986 The Honda Classic
- Jeff Mitchell, 1980 Phoenix Open
I love beautiful spelling of my baby’s Scottish name – people say it’s a nightmare to pronounce, but it builds character
A MUM-TO-BE has been left doubting her Scottish baby name – with people insisting nobody will be able to pronounce it.
Picking a name for your little one can be an incredibly difficult task as you want to make sure you choose something unique, but not so unusual that your child gets bullied.
A mum-to-be is starting to doubt her daughter’s baby name[/caption]Some people opt to name their child after their favourite book or film character, or even sports star.
Others find inspiration from elderly relatives and their family roots.
One woman, however, has revealed that her plans to give her little girl a Scottish name as a nod to her heritage is proving problematic as they live in America.
Posting on Reddit, the mum-to-be said: “I just recently found out I am having a girl (currently 4 months along) and my boyfriend and I have decided on a name.
“I have Irish and Scottish ancestry and he is South East Asian, so we decided to each take a first and middle name.
“The middle name he chose sounds exactly like it’s spelled, but the first name we both agreed on definitely does not.”
The name in question is Iseabail, pronounced ‘eesha-bell’.
Iseabail is the Scottish Gaelic form of Isabella, a name steeped in history and tradition throughout the ages.
Meaning ‘my God is an oath’, the name Isabella and its anglicised counterpart Elizabeth have been used by countless royals over the course of history.
In Scotland, only one baby girl was named Iseabail in 2023. Meanwhile, there were 17 Isobels, 12 Isabelles and six Isabels.
The pregnant woman continued: “I’ve been told my child will always get their name pronounced wrong and I’ve made jokes that it’ll build character but I’m honestly a bit worried since we are both American and this is a very Scottish name and spelling.
“I don’t want to have to Americanise the spelling but I also don’t know if I’m being obtuse on the issue and should compromise.
“I think the spelling is hard enough, I don’t mind a different pronunciation. I think the spelling itself is beautiful.”
And the mum-to-be isn’t the only one confused by the name, as it has left social media users divided.
Some think the she should reconsider the spelling, as one said: “Isabel is more ‘international’. I know you both like Iseabail very much, but she will be grateful in the future. Spelling the name is exhausting.”
A second wrote: “Personally I think that spelling is setting her up for a lot of spelling and pronunciation problems throughout her life and I would try to find a way to simplify it in a way that makes you happy.
“However the name itself is lovely and as long as you and your husband are happy that’s all that really matters.
“Your daughter will learn to adjust and will not be the only one with a ‘unique/weird’ spelling in her class or her work place.”
Meanwhile, a third added: “This is going to be a difficult name for people to spell and pronounce if you’re in the US.
“Even Isobel allows you to fairly easily say ‘we went with the Scottish spelling’ or something similar. But I worry that with Iseabail, the downside is that almost no one will be able to spell or pronounce her name.”
Others, however, have encouraged her to stick to the name.
“Keep it spelled the traditional way”, insisted one person.
“Nobody should ever change a cultural name to make it easier for others.”
And someone else chimed in: “The spelling jokes should only be reserved for people making names unnecessarily complicated, not when they are legitimate names from different countries. i think it’s beautiful!”
Banned Names in the UK
The UK has no law restricting names, but names that contain obscenities, numerals, misleading titles, or are impossible to pronounce are likely to be rejected when registering a child.
- Hitler
- Monkey
- Cyanide
- Martian
- Akuma
- Chow Tow
- Rogue
It’s not the first time Scotland has influenced a new mum’s baby name choices.
One woman revealed she turns to the map of Scotland to find inspiration for her kids’ names.
Sammi lives in England but chooses to name her children after Scottish places.
And another mum-to-be was forced to scrap her baby name choices after moving north of the border.
She told social media users she was disappointed after realising that people pronouncing the monikers in a Scottish accent would ‘change’ the names.
Footballer, 24, found dead in waters of Spanish port as heartbroken club pay tribute to ‘inspiration to us all’
A HEARTBROKEN club has paid tribute after one of their footballers was found dead in the waters of a Spanish port.
Croatian ace Jakov Jelkic, 24, played for Swiss third-tier team FC Granges-Paccot.
He was in Alicante with his club for a tournament when the tragic moment occurred, according to Marca.
Local police say Jelkic fell into the sea and drowned after a night out clubbing with several teammates.
The footballer was last spotted “staggering” out of a bar, “having ingested some type of alcoholic beverage”.
Jelkic failed to return to his hotel, where staff reported him missing the following morning.
His family also put out social media messages in a desperate attempt to locate him.
But police made a grim discovery on Monday afternoon as they found his body in the water of Alicante’s port.
Jelkic’s passing has since been confirmed by cops as an accidental death.
And his club paid tribute on social media with a touching statement.
It read: “It is with great sadness that we learned of Jakov’s passing.
“All our thoughts go to his family, friends, teammates and all the people who knew him closely or from afar.
“His memory will remain forever engraved in our hearts.
“A friend, a teammate, an inspiration to us all. Rest in peace.”
Fans also paid tribute to Jelkic online.
One said: “Forever in our hearts.”
Another declared: “In support of the family, players and all his loved ones.”
One noted: “This is so sad.”
Another added: “My condolences to the family, friends and team.”
