Child killer Axel Rudakubana ‘was always trouble’ as images reveal how aged 11 he lurked on the edge of drama group

SOUTHPORT killer Axel Rudakubana was “always trouble” according to old classmates with new images showing him at a drama class aged 11.

Rudakubana, now 18, was told he will serve life after murdering Bebe King, six, Elsie Dot Stancombe, seven, and Alice Da Silva Aguiar, nine, and trying to kill ten others at a Taylor Swift dance class last July.

He was a shy and awkward boy but it soon took a far darker turn

The cowardly killer was sentenced on Thursday to a minimum of 52 years in prison – the longest for anyone his age.

Yet Rudakubana, in his early school years, had actually been a model pupil who loved to sing and dance before the tide slowly turned.

In new pictures released, taken at the Pauline Quirke Academy – a drama school in Southport in 2017 – Rudakubana is seen reciting lines from a script.

Another image shows him lurking on the edge of the drama group aged 11 as those around him seem enthusiastic and happy.

These chilling photos are now looked back on with horror after he murdered three young girls in cold blood six years later.

His behaviour slowly turned and in 2019 he was expelled from school in Formby, Merseyside, after taking in a knife.

Police were called in and the Year Nine student — then aged just 13 — was sent home, before returning with a hockey stick.

The headmaster intervened before anyone was harmed.

While Rudakubana’s lawyer, Stan Reiz KC, told the court on Thursday: “Something changed in him when he reached the age of 13”, his former peers say there were earlier warning signs.

A former pupil called Jamie, who studied at Range High School in the nearby town of Formby at the same time as Rudakubana told MailOnline: “He was always trouble.”

Jamie added: “Everybody knew him from the get-go [in Year 7]. It was clear and obvious that something was wrong in his brain.

“There were occasions when he had to be held back [by teachers]. He was infamous. People would be scared of him because he was not a good person at all.”

It was when Axel Rudakubana started secondary school in 2017 that things took a darker turn.

A former pupil called Daisy, who sat next to him in English, paints a picture of him as a troublemaker, frequently taking things “too far” and having “shouting matches” with the teacher.

By Year 8, Daisy says, he’d already earned a name for himself; “doing an Axel” became synonymous for misbehaving in lessons.

She also recalled how Rudakubana would have a “dark, ominous” look on his face when the topic of women’s rights came up.

Another student, Rebecca, described him as a “bad egg” who had a reputation for making sexist jokes to the girls.

Rebecca said she, and others, tried their best to “stay away” from Rudakubana.

Current and former pupils at the state secondary have found themselves in the spotlight this week after the disturbing revelation that, just seven days before the Southport murders, Rudakubana had plotted to take a taxi to his old school.

It seems he had a grievance to settle, and was dressed in the same green hoodie and surgical mask he wore to the attack a week later.

The cab was booked for 12.20pm — ten minutes before the 1,100 pupils aged 11-16 were due to break up for summer.

But his martial arts instructor dad came out of the house and remonstrated with Axel, then 17, before sending the driver away from their home in Banks, Lancs.

Mental health experts and social workers tried to help, resulting in an autism diagnosis, but the teenager refused to engage and waded into the cesspit of inhumanity available online.

One tablet device found by cops contained details of ethnic cleansing in Somalia, a history of Nazism and violence in Chechnya.

Shortly before the Southport murders, Rudakubana also searched on X for videos of an April 2024 stabbing of a bishop and five others in a church in Sydney.

His parents and brother were relocated in the wake of his attack.

They have not attended any of his court dates and are devastated by his crimes.

On Friday, former glamour model Katie, 46, revealed she was preparing to go under the knife again.

She told how she had touched back down in Turkey following her 17th boob job and previous facelift last year.

Katie confessed on Snapchat: “From my last surgery, there are just a few little bits that I want tweaking.

“Well, they need tweaking. So here I am getting ready. That’s the worst bit for me, the needle.

“The needle’s done so now I can relax.”

Now she has documented the painful reality of her “tweaking” with the brutal images showing her squinting eyes as she lay on her hospital bed.

Katie donned a cream hoodie to stay cosy during the procedure and pulled her raven locks into a high bun.

Her recovery will no doubt have been brightened by the arrival of her boyfriend JJ Slater, 31, into the hospital ward.

The duo, who are continually surrounded with split rumours, were all smiles, with Married At First Sight alum JJ seen topless in the bed as he flashed a huge grin.

Earlier on, Katie took to her Instagram page to reveal she was “off to Turkey.”

And prior to her procedure on her Snapchat page she told how she had to wait a few hours for blood test results before the procedure.

She then posted another update as she was wheeled to the operating room, telling her followers: “Just to inform you all, I’m now going down for my operation. Nice and calm.”

While Katie hasn’t confirmed exactly what tweaks she’s having done, she recently admitted her face lift left her with botched ears.

Sources close to the star claimed she was unhappy with her “pixie ears” following the surgery.

Closer Magazine reported: “Katie is heading to Turkey for her first New Year’s procedure: fixing her pixie ears.

“She thinks they need correcting after her recent facelift. She’s having her ears removed, then re-stitched in place and pinned back so that they don’t stick out.”

Reflecting on Katie’s “obsession” with surgery, the source continued: “Friends think Katie has gone too far.

“They feel like she’s obsessed and loves the attention – and the money from the pictures – that the surgery brings in.”

‘Some 120k without water and supply risk for 275k ‘ – Public urged to save water as repairs underway after Storm Eowyn

AS the country slowly returns to normal after the harsh Storm Eowyn – thousands of homes are left with no water supplies due to power outages.

Uisce Eireann has issued an urgent warning for all householders to be mindful of their water usage.

Thousands of people are experiencing loss of supply due to power outages, which may increase as reservoir levels drop.

Approximately 120,000 people across the country have no water this lunchtime due to the storm event; an additional 150,000 people are now being supplied by schemes where generators have been deployed.

However, supplies for a further 275,000 people are at risk in areas where power is yet to be restored.

The national water company stated that the affected counties with the most impacts are Kerry, Clare, Tipperary, Cavan, Monaghan, Longford, Laois and across the North West.

The repair crews are currently on the grounds across the country in efforts to restore the supplies and deploy generators at sites where power has not been restored.

They are currently coordinating with the ESB to prioritise power restoration and liaising with other agencies, including the National Emergency Co-ordination Group (NECG) and local authorities.

The NECG continues coordinating and supporting efforts to restore power, water, telecommunications and other services to thousands of homes, farms and businesses.

To date, 308,000 power connections have been restored and the intensive repairs and work will continue over the weekend.

However, the full restoration is expected to take more than a week in the worst impacted areas.

The Minister for Social Protection, Dara Calleary, has confirmed that the Humanitarian Assistance Scheme will be available to provide support to those living in properties directly affected by Storm Eowyn.

‘UNPRECEDENTED STORM EVENT’

Uisce Eireann’s Head of Water Operations, Margaret Attridge, said that there has been positive progress made overnight on the repairs – but several people are experiencing loss of water supply due to power outages.

She said: “This unprecedented storm event has had a severe impact on our water and wastewater network nationwide.

“Our crews are on the ground in all impacted areas working to restore water service as quickly as possible, but given the extent of the damage to the power network, it may take some time before full service is restored everywhere.

“We ask for the public’s continued patience during this challenging time.

“In locations where water supplies have been impacted for longer periods, we are deploying alternative water supplies.

“Details of these supplies and their locations will be posted across our website and social media channels as they become available.”

Margaret also urged customers to conserve water where possible to protect supply while the outages are resolved.

People can take some simple steps to conserve their water, such as avoiding water-intensive appliances during this time.

CHECK FOR LEAKS AND BURSTS PIPES

The national water company urged customers to notify them about their burst pipes as it struggles to provide standard supplies, which may lead to more water supplies being wasted due to a leak.

The crew needs to be notified about leaks or burst pipes so they can perform maintenance and repairs to reserve the water supply.

During the stormy days, there has been a notable increase in leaks and bursts caused by the debris across the network.

As a result, thedemand has increased, meaning it was impacting reservoir storage.

All homeowners are urged to check any property under their responsibility for burst pipes and leaks and report it to the crew to be prioritised for repair

And people are reminded not to leave the taps running and to fix dripping or leaking taps to preserve the water reservoir supply.

Customers can stay informed about their local water supply by visiting www.water.ie, via Uisce Éireann’s X feed, @IWCare, or by signing up for our free text alert service via the website.

Alternatively, they can get in touch via their 24/7 customer care centre at 1800 278 278.
