‘We can’t afford another one’ – Heartbroken Irish couple’s home destroyed during Storm Eowyn as they launch fund plea

A COUPLE was left heartbroken after their mobile home was destroyed by Storm Eowyn.

Rickie and Lauren Kavanagh from Cluidrevagh, Co Galway, have issued an urgent plea as they are left homeless – after their home was completely destroyed.

During the madness of Storm Eowyn, their home was flipped and destroyed by the strong winds, leaving the heartbroken couple to salvage their belongings.

Rickie and Lauren were lucky to escape the chaos as they stayed with their friend during the storm event.

The mobile home was only purchased three months ago, before the devastating event occurred.

A GoFundMe page has been created to help the pair rebuild.

The couple is still paying back loans for their mobile home, which they no longer have, and they are struggling to afford a replacement.

Launching the fundraiser page, the couple told their story about their mobile home and how they only want to save money to find their forever home.

They said: “We are still paying back loans for a home we no longer have after Storm Eowyn hit on the 24th of January 2025.

“We can’t afford another one and we just want someplace to call our own so we can have the chance to save for our forever home.

“Unfortunately the storm flipped the mobile over and we’re currently trying to recover whatever belongings we can.

“We’re very grateful that we were staying with a friend on the night storm hit as things could have been a lot worse but we had the mobile home only three months and now it’s destroyed.

“It would mean so much to us if you could help in any way possible and hopefully we reach our goal.

“If any money is raised above the goal amount it will be donated to a charity.

“Thanks so much to everyone helping us.”

GENEROUS DONATIONS

The GoFundMe fundraiser was launched yesterday to raise €10,000 to help the couple get their bearings together and find a new home.

They also pleaded that if the fundraiser exceeds the target, it will go towards a charity.

People have been sharing whatever they can to help the heartbroken couple during difficult times and get them back on their feet.

After 14 hours of the campaign being live, it has raised over €2,600.

A generous person has donated €500, while a handful donated €100 to help them find a new home.

You can donate online to Rickie and Lauren’s GoFundMe campaign.

Separately, a farm based in Galway, was completely destroyed as Storm Eowyn rampaged with 183kph winds.

Raman Singh’s Oranmore Organic Farm, located in Treanlaur, told how his dreams were ripped away as the storm hit.

Tottenham 1 Leicester 2: Ange Postecoglou on brink as Spurs flops are BOOED off by fuming fans after humiliating defeat

MAYBE Tottenham genuinely ARE in a relegation battle.

Before, it seemed like a sort of sick joke.

And piled the pressure onto Ange Postecoglou after a fourth league defeat running[/caption]

One that fans would have a relieved laugh about once they had come through this awful period and got their multitude of crocked stars back.

But that was before they lost at home to Ruud van Nistelrooy’s Leicester side, who had suffered seven straight defeats themselves and scored just two goals in the process.

Jamie Vardy was the man that sparked the shock win, levelling a minute into the second half from Richarlison’s opener, before Bilal El Khannouss’s winner four minutes later.

Now alarm bells really are ringing all throughout N17 because if you cannot beat this lot – scratch that, if you LOSE to this lot – then you can lose to anyone.

The gap is only seven points to the dreaded dotted line and with dreadful, knackered, injury-decimated Spurs without question showing relegation form, would you really rule it out?

It is now one win in 11 league games – and that victory came at doomed Southampton – for Ange Postecoglou, for whom the heat cranked up considerably in the miserable January weather on Sunday afternoon.

The vast number of players sidelined – it was ten here, with ex-Leicester man James Maddison the latest to be ruled out – have severely hampered him.

As has the lack of support this month in the transfer market by Daniel Levy, who was Public Enemy No1 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium here.

But even so, this was a team that finished fifth last season, that are competing in Europe, and are… well, bloody Tottenham Hotspur, one of the bastions of English football.

The fact that they are even being mentioned as a relegation candidate is as astounding as it is embarrassing.

And it is not like you can just turn form on and off like a tap in the Premier League, even when you have your key men fit. It is too demanding a league these days.

Levy may not have backed Postecoglou in the market so far this January, but until now he has supported the Aussie despite the club’s plummet down the table.

There has been a deep desire for it to work for the ex-Celtic manager and an understanding over the spate of injuries.

That faith is about to be given its strongest test yet though after this calamity.

As for Van Nistelrooy and Leicester, this was an unexpected massive boost given how the club were in freefall before now.

One win in 14 league games before this was even worse than Tottenham’s dire record and it only looked to be heading one way.

Ex-Manchester United super striker Van Nistelrooy played with a young Son Heung-min during his year at Hamburg in 2010-11.

He tweeted back then that his then 18-year-old South Korean team-mate was “a massive talent” and that the footballing world should “watch out for” his talent.

Chairman Daniel Levy was in a stormy mood as Spurs homes chanted for him to leave

It was a solid tip as Son has gone on to be one of the finest players in Tottenham’s recent history and a Premier League centurion goal-scorer.

But fourteen years on and the winger’s poor campaign has been a big factor in Spurs’ problems, with the captain looking no longer the talisman he once was.

This was actually one of Son’s better games, though, at least in the first half, when he came close with two strikes which were brilliantly tipped wide and onto the crossbar respectively by Jakub Stolarczyk.

A rare moment of quality brought about the opener as Pedro Porro swung in a sublime cross which Richarlison guided into the net with a controlled header.

Given Leicester’s hopelessness in front of goal, many would have presumed Spurs – even this Spurs – would go on from there and see out the three points.

But those presumptions proved foolhardy as Leicester turned the game on its head inside the first four minutes of the second half.

First, a good ball across from Bobby De Cordova-Reid evaded both Kinsky and Davies, allowing Vardy to take a touch and smash in a leveller.

The former England striker revived his s***house tactics from the opening day of the season – where he also equalised against Spurs – by pointing to his Premier League badge, to indicate how he had won one title and Tottenham had not.

If that was a setback, what followed was a disaster.

El Khannouss was afforded the freedom of what felt like the Tottenham High Road, or the middle of the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium pitch at least, as he raced towards Spurs’ box and curled into the far corner.

The chorus of anti-Levy chants, which had come and gone in the first half, significantly ramped up at that point.

There were incredulous boos when Richarlison was brought off on 54 minutes.

Postecoglou was presumably trying to manage the Brazilian’s minutes given his injury woes this season.

But given the state his side was in, few could fathom he had taken off his goal-scorer.

Neither could they believe when Porro, shortly after striking the bar with a deflected free-kick, opted to shoot towards the near post from the acutest of angles, instead of simply squaring for a wide-open Archie Gray.

Most damning of Spurs and Postecoglou from there was that that was pretty much it for their attacking threat.

Porous Leicester were comfortable and Tottenham were toothless.

The boos at full-time were deafening – save for the cheers of the Leicester fans – as were the ‘We want Levy out’ chants.

A banner was unveiled in the South Stand that read “24 years, 16 managers, 1 trophy, TIME FOR CHANGE”, aimed at Levy.

Frequently in the past, these kinds of scenes have resulted in change – but in the dugout, not the boardroom.

Masked Singer fans backtrack on Bush’s identity as they predict huge twist after hitting out at judges

MASKED Singer fans have backtracked on who they think is behind Bush and predicted a huge twist.

But now they’ve made a U-turn and think it’s actually comedian Morgana Robinson playing Natalie.

Morgana, 42, is known for her spot-one impression of Natalie, 41, and fans have taken to social media to predict the twist.

One wrote: “Bush does sound like Natalie Cassidy but would love it to be Morgana Robinson doing her Natalie Cassidy impression.”

Another said: “I was thinking Natalie Cassidy but then I remember Morgana doing a brilliant Natalie impression on her show…”

Someone else commented: “Bush is probably Morgana Robinson doing a Sonia impression.”

And a fourth added: “Bush could not have sounded more like Natalie Cassidy this time. Still a chance it’s Morgana Robinson who can do a great impression.”

Natalie recently opened up about her reaction to Morgana’s hilarious impression of her.

During an episode of her Off The Telly podcast, co-host Joanna Page asked: “What was that like? You know when she did that. Was it just mental?

“To be that well known that someone does an impression of your character and you, it’s just insane.”

Natalie replied: “It is a complete honour.

“Because I do think once that happens to you, you think ‘I am famous actually’.

“Which I don’t really care about, but you go ‘That makes you a bit famous, that’.”

Last night fans blasted Masked Singer panellists Jonathan Ross, Davina McCall, Maya Jama and Mo Gilligan for “pretending” not to know Bush is “obviously” Natalie.

Someone wrote: “Everyone in the UK knows that Bush is Natalie Cassidy, except these judges apparently.”

And another said: “How do they not hear that it’s Natalie Cassidy?! Especially now with the Dean clue ..Dean Gaffney, come on people! #MaskedSingerUK.”

Dan Sheehan hails Leinster medical staff as he prepares to join Ireland in Six Nations camp after stunning URC return

LEINSTER hooker Dan Sheehan returned to action for the first time in six months last night.

The Leinster number two picked up a severe anterior cruciate ligament injury in last year’s first test of the drawn series against world champions South Africa.

The Leinster star is set to link up with Ireland today in Portugal

And it’s been a long and testing journey back for the 26-year-old, the player paid tribute to his physio after guiding him back from the injury.

Sheehan skippered Leinster last night in the absence of Caelan Doris, and went on to star in the win over the Stormers at Aviva Stadium.

He bagged a brace of tries in the 36-12 URC win over the South African.

And the number two hailed the Leinster medical staff, his physio and boxing coach for their help with his rehab.

Speaking with Premier Sports after the win for Leo Cullen’s side as they extended their unbeaten campaign, Sheehan said: “Ohh, it’s excellent. You know, It feels like another debut of sorts.

“I was nervous during the week, it’s so nice to be part of this team. When it’s taken away from you for six months, it makes it all the more special to be out on the pitch.

“It’s a really exciting time. I’ve been helped so much – everyone in Leinster – Emma Galvin, my physio has been outstanding.

“My boxing coach, Cathal O’Grady in white collar boxing. A lot of people have put a lot of time into me – that’s what happens, it’s great to be back on the pitch.”

Sheehan is now looking forward to linking up with his Irish team-mates on Sunday in Portugal.

The squad are on a warm weather training camp at ‘The Campus’ facility in Quinta do Lago, Portugal ahead of the Six Nations Championship.

Ireland open their campaign next Saturday against fierce rivals England in Dublin.

And the former Clongowes Wood College player is relishing a return to the international fold.

He added: “I can’t wait to get back into [Ireland] camp. It was kind of weird watching from the outside over the last couple of games, these games and the Irish games.

“So, I’m looking forward to getting over to Portugal tomorrow with a couple of the lads and getting stuck into a bit of preparation.”

He’ll be joined by winger James Lowe, who also returned after not playing since November.

The duo’s return is great news for Ireland interim boss Simon Easterby.

The Campus is a state-of-the-art performance centre used by some of the wordl’s top teams and athletes.

It has also high performance gym, tennis and padel courts, swimming pool, cycling, group classes and personal training, recovery suites and sports rehabilitation.

Ireland vs England kick-off at 4:45pm next Saturday.
