‘I’d like to meet up’ – Luke Littler sends message to Emma Raducanu after she revealed she would ‘love’ to see him

LUKE LITTLER has admitted he would like to meet Emma Raducanu after she floated the idea of meeting up.

Littler, 18, shares common ground with tennis whiz Raducanu in that both burst onto the scene as teen prodigies.

Raducanu shattered expectations when she won the US Open in 2021 as an 18-year-old.

Littler similarly defied belief when he made it all the way to the final of the World Darts Championship in 2024 at the age of 16, where he was defeated by Luke Humphries.

Of course, the Nuke has since gone on to become the world champion after going one better earlier this month and propping himself up to World No.2 after winning over ten titles in the year.

Canadian-born Raducanu, now 22, said she would “love” to meet-up following Littler’s Alexandra Palace win over Van Gerwen.

She said: “Amazing respect to him.

“Big time [interested in meeting Littler]. I’d love to meet any top athletes and top individuals who have succeeded in their fields.”

Littler has now given his response to that invite but admitted he isn’t all that familiar with Raducanu’s own world-conquering exploits.

Speaking to the Daily Mail, he said: “We [he and Raducanu] have had no involvement as of yet.

“I didn’t know much about her but I know she won what she did at a young age. I’m sure her social media team or mine will be in touch. And I’d like to meet up.”

Radacanu – searching for a seventh coach in her pro career after Nick Cavaday stepped down to focus on his health – has the advantage of some advanced years of wisdom compared to Littler.

She offered some advice about being in the spotlight, saying: “Not much prepares you for that.

“You feel like you’re constantly a bit on edge because you’re being followed [by photographers] or something.

“But I think the biggest part is the judgment and the comments about every single decision that you make.

“That for me was really difficult to deal with, to try and desensitise myself to and just understand that it comes with the territory you’re in.

“But I think trying to stay away from that and keep on my path has probably been the biggest adjustment for me.”

Despite both being willing to meet up, it will need to be at a time when their busy schedules align.

Raducanu is set to be back in action at the WTA 250 in Singapore which starts today and runs through until February 2.

Meanwhile, Littler will be in action at the Winmau World Masters in Milton Keynes running until February 2 before the first night of the Premier League gets underway on February 6.

This comes following the death of an Antrim man on Sunday.

Emergency services were called to the scene of an incident near the Ballymacrea Road area of Portrush on Sunday morning.

It is understood that a man in the Portrush area died following possible exposure to fumes from a generator.

Households are now being warned over using portable generators to power their homes after thousands remain without power.

ESB Networks reported this morning said around 246,000 customers are still without power following impacts from Storm Eowyn.

Crews have restored power to 522,000 customers after outages peaked at 768,000 on Friday morning.

Due to severe outages, some homes and businesses may not see power return until later in the week.

Around 65,000 people in Northern Ireland are still without power, with Northern Ireland Electricity warning that it could be February 3 before a full restoration.

Many homes across the country are availing of portable generators to ensure some power is restored.

The Health and Safety Executive for Northern Ireland warned that the use of home generators come with a number of dangers.

They said: “Do not assume that you are safe.

“Carbon monoxide from generators is completely colourless and odourless, so you won’t know if it’s there.

“It could kill your family and your pets.”

They went on to issue advice for the use of these generators, advising homeowners to not use them indoors or in enclosed spaces.

This includes homes, garages and crawl spaces, as well as areas with partial ventilation.

They say they should also not be operated near open doors and windows.

Using fans within the home while generators are operating will also not prevent a build up of carbon monoxide.

The Health and Safety Executive for Northern Ireland said that all homes should have a battery-powered carbon monoxide alarm fitted to alert of any harmful or dangerous levels.

These alarms should always be fitted as per the manufacturer’s recommendations.

Dad who claimed he was ‘play-fighting’ with daughter, 14, when he stabbed her to death in kitchen is GUILTY of murder

A DAD who claimed he was “play-fighting” with his 14-year-old daughter when he stabbed her to death has been found guilty of murder.

Scarlett Vickers suffered catastrophic blood loss after the blade was plunged 11cm into her chest and pierced her heart.

Her dad Simon Vickers, 50, has been found guilty of murdering his teen daughter at their home in Darlington, Co Durham, on July 5.

The monster claimed he and Scarlett were just “messing about” when he accidentally threw the blade at her.

But Teesside Crown Court heard the 11cm wound was too deep to have been a tragic mistake.

The heartless dad also attempted to claim that he was the victim after his daughter died in a pool of blood on the kitchen floor.

After his arrest, Vickers told police: “That was it. We were horse-playing.

“I must be the unluckiest man in the world.”

Vickers claimed the playfight started when he and Scarlett began throwing grapes at each other while mum Sarah Hall made dinner.

He said he went to “try and get her” but his daughter tried to push him away so he grabbed the tongs and chucked them.

The dad continued: “She just shouted ‘ah, ah ah’ and fell to the floor.

“Her lips were going bluer and she wasn’t listening when I was shouting at her.

“Sarah took over and the ambulance came and, f***ing hell.”

Vickers described his only child as the “love of my life” and told police his world had “gone to s***”.

He also denied telling paramedics at the scene that he picked up a knife and that it “just went in” after Scarlett “lunged towards me”.

The dad added: “There is no way in the world I would stab my child. I threw those tongs at her.

“I want to die myself. My only child – I don’t know what to say. I can’t even cry. I don’t even know what’s wrong.”

The court heard the dad gave “three different accounts at least before his formal police interview” of what happened.

Prosecutor Mark McKone KC said Vickers must have stabbed his daughter “deliberately with the knife”.

He told jurors the injury inflicted to Scarlett “could not have been caused by throwing the knife or indeed by throwing anything else.”

During her evidence, Scarlett’s mum Sarah Hall said she believed it was an accident and her partner of 27 years would never harm their daughter.

Vickers, who denied murder, has been remanded into custody to be sentenced at a later date.

Why Man Utd were forced into nightmare journey back from Fulham with miserable stars arriving in Manchester at 1.30am

MANCHESTER UNITED stars had to be driven back home by coach after their Premier League match at Fulham.

United defeated the Cottagers 1-0 on Sunday thanks to Lisandro Martinez’s winner at Craven Cottage.

The Red Devils were scheduled to fly back to Manchester Airport but the flight was cancelled.

Problems with the airline meant going back home by plane was no longer an option.

And so Man Utd had to endure a THREE-AND-A-HALF-HOUR coach journey to Manchester.

Ruben Amorim’s men faced Fulham at 7pm and the manager finished his post-match press conference at about 9.40pm.

The team arrived back at Manchester Airport at about 1.30AM to get on their cars that they had parked nearby anticipating a flight back.

Some players, such as Manuel Ugarte, seemed visibly frustrated after the horrendous ordeal.

United are training on Monday despite the horrible journey, but have Tuesday off.

Amorim will hold practice again on Wednesday morning before the three-hour flight to Romania.

That is where they will take on FCSB on Thursday’s crunch Europa League clash as they look to seal a place in the top eight.

That leads straight to the Last 16, which is quite important for United amid their ongoing woes in the Premier League.

The Red Devils have plunged down to 12th place in the table, which means winning the Europa League poses as their best chance of gaining Champions League qualification next season.

MAN UTD PLAYER RATINGS: Maguire puts in superb defensive display but Garnacho caught running into blind alleys

MANCHESTER UNITED secured a hard-fought three points against Fulham.

Lisandro Martinez’s deflected strike proved to be the difference in what was the Red Devils’ only shot on target all game.

Harry Maguire impressed but Alejandro Garnacho once again failed to impress in what could have been his Man Utd farewell amid rumours linking him with Napoli and Chelsea.

Here is how SunSport rated the individual performances.

Andre Onana – 7

Good save low down to his left to keep out an Alex Iwobi shot early doors.

Other than that he was barely tested but no glaring errors mean it is a step in the right direction for the Red Devils No1.

Diogo Dalot – 6

Had a difficult time in the first half up against Iwobi who was Fulham‘s main attacking threat.

Switched to the left flank in the second half and supported Garnacho without posing much of a threat.

Matthijs de Ligt – 8

Another strong showing at the back from the Dutchman. Without his support for Dalot, Fulham may have created a goal down United’s right-hand side.

Harry Maguire – 9

A superb defensive display from the England star who has been one of United’s best players since Amorim took charge.

Pulled off a brilliant header at the back post to deny Rodrigo Muniz a certain goal.

Lisandro Martinez – 8

Superb last-ditch tackle to prevent Emile Smith Rowe from shooting as he burst through on goal.

His goal had a big slice of luck as it was deflected past Bernd Leno but credit to him for having the audacity to shoot.

Noussair Mazraoui – 7

Solid at the back and tried to get forward when he could. United looked more balance with him on the left and Dalot on the right, although the pair swapped at half-time.

Manuel Ugarte – 6

Showed some nice touches and was a bit of a menace in the middle – in a positive and negative sense. Kept a close eye on Smith Rowe and allowed him no time on the ball.

Booked for a foul on Adama Traore and was taken off shortly afterwards with an injury.

Bruno Fernandes – 5

Not at his best. Barely saw the ball in the first half and was not very effective when he did get it.

Amad Diallo – 6

Looked bright on the ball and United’s only real outlet going forward.

He worked tirelessly and pressed really well – his hard work paid off when he found the back of the net in stoppage time but his effort was chalked off.

Alejandro Garnacho – 3

Was cautious on the ball and ran into blind alleys too often. Final ball let him down on the rare occasion he did manage to beat a defender.

Rasmus Hojlund – 4

His hold up play is nowhere near good enough for this system or for a club like United.

He was too gung-ho at times and his erratic nature meant linking up with Amad and Garnacho proved difficult.

Hauled off before the hour mark which says it all about his performance.

Subs:

Leny Yoro (for De Ligt, 58mins) – 6

A more assured display given his shaky start to life in the Premier League.

Joshua Zirkzee (for Hojlund, 58mins) – 5

Like Hojlund he had a difficult time holding the ball up but United improved with him on the pitch.

Toby Collyer (for Ugarte, 76mins ) – 6

Solid display again from the youngster who was often in the right position to clear, including one on the line to stop a Joachim Andersen header from going in.

Kobbie Mainoo (for Garnacho, 80mins) – 6

Provided energy in midfield and shored things up alongside Collyer.

A brilliant one-two with Amad set up the winger to score before VAR ruled Amad offside.

Tyrell Malacia (for Mazraoui, 80mins) – 6

Brought on in an unfamiliar right wing-back role but did what was needed to see out the clean sheet.

His son Rory Talbot today appeared at Wimbledon Magistrates’ Court via video link from custody charged with murder.

The 30-year-old spoke only to confirm his name, date of birth and address during a short hearing.

Talbot, wearing a grey t-shirt, was remanded into custody to next appear at the Old Bailey on Wednesday.

The horror unfolded at around 3.30am on Friday when police were called to the luxury home following reports of a stabbing.

Tragically, Mark couldn’t be saved and was declared dead at the scene.

According to Companies House, Mark was the director of architecture firm Stoutheart for more than 30 years and owned a number of properties.

Tributes have now flooded in for Mark – including from his devastated family.

They said: “We are grateful for the support provided by police, our neighbours and others.

“We ask that our privacy is respected while we come to terms with the tragic loss of a highly respected member of the community.”

The Met Police previously confirmed the horror was an “isolated threat”.

They also appealed for anyone who saw anything at around 3am on Friday to get in touch.

A spokesperson added: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of Mark Talbot who have been affected by this tragic incident, and who continue to receive support from specialist officers.”

My £4 B&M buy is a saviour for drying clothes in winter – it takes up NO space & works way quicker than a normal airer

A MUM whose family of four live in an “average” three-bedroom house has revealed her genius space-saving hacks.

And top of Hannah’s list is a £4 B&M buy which is perfect for drying clothes in winter.

A mum shared how she makes use of the dead space above her stairs using a £4 B&M rack[/caption]

On her @everly_andme page, Hannah showed off the savvy product, which saves you having to put up a large clothes horse around your home.

She wrote: “Affordable space saving ideas for your average semi-detached in the UK.

“As a family of four in a three-bed home (with 2 dogs and 3 cats) we crave storage space, particularly with one being a toddler and during the winter months.”

Thankfully her B&M find saved the day.

Hannah explained: “Over the radiator drying rails.

“Nowhere to put a freestanding rail in the winter without it getting in the way?

“No problem. £4 B&M.”

The mum showed how she adds the rail over her staircase bannister to dry clothes using the dead space.

She explained: “Heat rises right so the clothes will dry quickly!”

Next up, she swears by keeping shoes hidden away using Ikea’s £89 Hemnes unit.

Not only does the slim cabinet take up very little space, she also loves it for decor purposes.

In her daughter Everley’s room, she swears by cube storage units to keep her items tidied away.

She picked up her blue cubes from Homebase for £33 each.

Hannah added that she’d also seen some good DIY hacks using the cubes, including people adding feet and doors.

Other items she has in her toddler’s room are a Lazy Susan and A5 folders, that can be used to keep puzzles or games inside.

Meanwhile, in the kitchen, she uses the space above her cabinets for baskets from The Range, which are three for £15.

Hannah explained: “I HATE seeing mess above cupboards but this allows me to use the space and tolerate the look.”

Top clothes drying hacks

She added in the video caption that these were hacks that she found “have made a difference to us.”

Many people were impressed with her ideas, with the clip racking up over 1,700 likes.

One person said: “I need more of these! such good ideas!!”

Another added: “LOVE the drying hack on the banister! I’m pinching this one thank you.”

And a third commented: “Need more of these.”
