A MURDERER was caught after cops followed a trail of blood from the victim after he was stabbed in a TV remote row.
James Murray, 47, died in Wythenshawe, Manchester, after being fatally knifed by his flatmate Scott Thomson, 57.
The pair of pals had moved in together after initially meeting at a hostel.
But as the months went by the “co-dependent” relationship soured as Thomson became increasingly suspicious of his flatmate.
Tensions surrounding a new TV bought for the flat began to flare, with Thomson claiming that Murray was hogging the remote.
On December 4 last year, an argument over the TV remote escalated, with tragic consequences.
Thomson grabbed a 19cm blade and lashed out at his flatmate with the large knife causing fatal damage.
The weapon caused an 8cm wound, penetrating through Murray’s ribcage and going “straight into his heart”.
He manage to stagger outside bleeding but Murray then collapsed and died in the street despite the efforts of paramedics to save him.
A trail of blood led officers to Thomson’s flat, where further evidence of the violent altercation was discovered.
Thomson fled the scene but was arrested the next day after approaching cops and admitting his involvement.
Thomson was handed a life sentence with a minimum term of 18 years for killing Murray in a hearing at Manchester Crown Court yesterday.
In a powerful victim impact statement read out in court, James’ son said: “I would like to pass on thanks to my family liaison officer for all the help and support they have provided to me and my family throughout this process.
“There is no way to fully express the depth of pain and loss that my father’s murder has caused.
“My dad, James, was funny, laid back, and incredibly personable. He had a gift for making people laugh, often by winding us up in a way that only he could.
“That was his way—he brought joy and light into every room he entered. He may not have been an angel, he may not have lived the best life, but he was my dad.
“Since the day he was taken from us, my life has changed completely. I am constantly reminded of what has happened. I consistently feel the pain of his murder, there is not a day that goes by that I don’t feel the weight of his absence.
“I struggle to sleep. I struggle to have a ‘normal’ day. Even the simplest things have become difficult without him here.
“What hurts the most is knowing that due to Scott Thompson taking my dad’s life, I no longer have the opportunity to create new memories with my dad or share my life with him. No milestones, no quiet chats, no laughter, no future together.
“The loss of his life is greater than just the loss of a person—it’s the loss of time, connection, and a relationship that can never be replaced.
“No sentence can bring him back, but I hope justice can reflect the seriousness of the pain inflicted on our family, and the irreplaceable life that was taken from us.
“The way in which James was taken from the world is a constant memory, a constant image for which I will never be able to unsee and this being solely due to Scott Thomson’s actions on December 4 2024.
“I want Scott Thomson to know his actions will never be forgotten or forgiven.”
If he is ever released from prison Thomson will be subject to licence for the rest of his life.
Senior Investigating Officer Duncan Thorpe said: “Firstly, our thoughts remain with James’ family and friends at this time.
“This was a tragic and totally avoidable incident that highlights the devastating impact knife crime can have. There is no doubt that this issue could have been resolved without weapons.
“Today’s sentencing should be a strong deterrent for those carrying and using a knife.”
TYRANT Vladimir Putin cemented his territorial ambitions by proclaiming “all of Ukraine” belonged to Russia and threatening to invade more land.
Ukraine slammed Putin’s comments as “deranged” and called for Kyiv’s allies to slap “devastating sanctions” on Russia.
Speaking at Russia‘s flagship economic forum in Saint Petersburg, Putin reaffirmed his long-held claim that Russians and Ukrainians are “one people”.
He declared: “In that sense, all of Ukraine is ours.
“There is a saying: wherever a Russian soldier sets foot, that is ours,” he added.
The narrative is central to Putin’s rhetoric, which he has used to justify his invasion of Ukraine.
However, he said Russia is ready to recognise Ukraine’s sovereignty.
But he reiterated his demand that Kyiv accept the realities of Moscow‘s territorial gains and abandon plans to join Nato.
Putin said: “We aren’t seeking Ukraine’s surrender, we want them to recognise the realities on the ground,” adding that Moscow has repeatedly warned Kyiv to make a deal.
Asked about Moscow’s goals in Ukraine, Putin threatened to take Sumy – a key Ukrainian city – as part of the creation of a “buffer zone”.
He repeated that Moscow was “advancing on all fronts” and that his troops had penetrated up to seven miles into the Sumy region.
Putin said: “We have to create a security zone along the border.
“We have no objective to take Sumy, but in principle I do not rule it out… They pose a constant threat to us, constantly shelling the border areas.”
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiga described Putin’s comments as “deranged” and called for Kyiv’s allies to slap “devastating sanctions” on Russia.
“The only way to force Russia into peace is to deprive it of its sense of impunity,” he wrote in a post on X.
Putin’s widening territorial ambitions are likely to roil Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, who has accused Moscow of not wanting to end the fighting.
The two sides held rounds of direct talks in Istanbul in May and in June, but Kyiv accused Moscow of sending “dummy” negotiators with no real power to enact a peace deal.
Putin has declined to take part in the peace talks in person and on Thursday said he would only meet Zelensky during a “final phase” of negotiations on ending the three-year conflict.
He has also insisted that Ukraine give up territory it already controls for peace.
Kyiv says it cannot and will not accept Russian occupation of any part of its land.
It comes as Putin’s battlefield casualties have soared past the bloody one million milestone after 40 months of meatgrinder war.
Ukraine’s fierce resistance forced Russia to pay a mighty toll for every inch of land it has taken, and its advances remain painfully slow.
The staggering milestone includes troops who have been killed or wounded so severely that they cannot fight on.
According to the Ukrainian General Staff, one million Russian military troops have been put out of action since February 24, 2022, with 628,000 of those casualties occurring in the last six months.
Burning through a million troops has won Putin just 20 per cent of Ukraine’s total territory – mainly in southern and eastern areas – which is a humiliating conversion rate.
Despite the devastating losses which have already ripped a scar in Russian society, experts fear that Putin is likely unaffected by the numbers.
Zelensky confirmed that Moscow has been attempting to gain ground in the border regions of Sumy in the northeast.
Even with the death toll climbing higher by the day Putin appears to be doubling down.
The bloody milestone comes as Putin calls for a major upgrade to Russia’s ground forces, Ukrainian outlet Pravda reports.
The Kremlin tyrant declared them the “dominant force” in modern warfare and demanded faster development of “advanced weapons systems” with “the highest tactical and technical specifications.”
In a meeting on the state armaments programme, Putin also directed resources toward strengthening Russia’s navy, further signalling his long-term military ambitions.
It all comes as Russia is reportedly building up a 50,000-strong force alongside the border of Kharkiv amid fears of a fresh summer offensive to attack the city.
With the US backing out of direct negotiations to broker a peace deal and Putin stalling ceasefire talks, experts fear a major Russian offensive could mobilise in the coming weeks.
The Ukrainian military in April reported that the Kremlin was amassing troops to prepare for a fresh assault on Kharkiv – Ukraine’s second largest city.
Military analysts believe he is trying to press home his advantage and capture more Ukrainian land.
They warn that Putin only has a “four-month window” to get a breakthrough in Ukraine this year.
And this could be the beginning of Russia’s summer offensive targeting the border city of Kharkiv – the “fortress” city of Ukraine which put up the maximum resistance at the start of the invasion.
KATIE Price has given her fans yet another glimpse of her botched BBL surgery.
Stripping off to a teeny tiny polka dot bikini in Ibiza, the former glamour model, 47, looked sensational as she frolicked in the ocean.
Katie, who recently opened up about her botched BBL before recently having some filler added to adjust the look of it, gave fans a closer look at her bikini body this week.
On June 18, the stunning star was spotted soaking up the sun.
Looking relaxed, Katie looked sensational as she strolled along the water’s edge.
She could be seen wearing a red polka dot bikini, which looked as though it was held together by flimsy string.
Katie wore her raven-coloured hair tied up into a high ponytail.
She wore some brown sunglasses covering her eyes, and had a straw bag with her.
Her nails were painted bright yellow and she rocked two designer necklaces around her neck.
Katie’s signature curves were on full display as she sunned herself and topped up her tan.
Her famous breasts were in full view as they almost busted out of her tiny bra top.
And her freshly injected bottom was also on display thanks to the skimpy thong-style bikini bottoms she donned.
This comes as she continues to enjoy her very boozy vacation in Spain.
She recently popped up in a snap shared on EastEnders star Dean Gaffney‘s Instagram page.
In the snap, which was shared last weekend, Katie could be seen partying with the former soap actor as she stood between Dean and pal Jamie O’Hara.
She was then snapped alongside Wayne Linekar in a photo, with the pair looking friendly while she donned a bikini.
1998 – Katie underwent her first breast augmentation taking her from a natural B cup to a C cup. She also had her first liposuction
1999 – Katie had two more boob jobs in the same year, one taking her from a C cup to a D cup, and then up to an F cup
2006 – Katie went under the knife to take her breasts up to a G cup
2007 – Katie had a rhinoplasty and veneers on her teeth
2008 – Katie stunned fans by reducing her breasts from an F cup to a C cup
2011 – Going back to an F cup, Katie also underwent body-contouring treatment and cheek and lip fillers
2014/5 – Following a nasty infection, Katie had her breast implants removed
2016 – Opting for bigger breasts yet again, Katie had another set of implants, along with implants, Botox and lip fillers
2017 – After a disastrous ‘threading’ facelift, Katie also had her veneers replaced. She also had her eighth boob job taking her to a GG cup
2018 – Katie went under the knife yet again for a facelift
2019 – After jetting to Turkey, Katie had a face, eye and eyelid lift, Brazilian bum lift and a tummy tuck
2020 – Katie has her 12th boob job in Belgium to correct botched surgery and a new set of veneers
2021 – In a complete body overhaul, she opts for eye and lip lifts, liposuction under her chin, fat injected into her bum and full body liposuction
2022 – Katie undergoes another brow and eye lift-and undergoes ‘biggest ever’ boob job in Belgium, her 16th in total
2023 – Opting for a second rhinoplasty, Katie also gets a lip lift at the same time as well as new lip filler throughout the year
2024 – Katie has her 17th boob job in Brussels after revealing she wanted to downsize. She performed at Dublin Pride just days later and surgeons warned the lack of recovery posed a risk of infection
This comes after Katie admitted that her botched Brazilian butt lift left her in agony.
The Page 3 icon even swore off having surgery in the UK for good.
Speaking on Katherine Ryan: Telling Everybody Everything recently, Katie was asked whether there was a procedure she regretted.
“The bum,” she replied, adding, “I tried that BBL abroad where they take your own fat and put it in your bum.
“It was so painful. And it just did not look right on me.”
When asked where she had it done, Katie revealed it was in Turkey – and despite the bad experience, she’s still a big fan of going overseas for ops.
She said: “I would never have surgery in England again. Ever, ever. I’d always have it abroad.”
Recently, Katie took to Instagram to share a video where she revealed that she was back at a clinic and about to have another procedure.
She told fans she was having another cosmetic procedure, which was some fresh filler added to her bottom after the botched BBL.
Katie said: “So the bum is done! Here’s a little sneaky, beaky, boopky,” as she showed off the results of the injections.
KING Charles is filming a documentary for Netflix – three years after Harry and Meghan released their six-part tell-all with the streaming giant.
Charles will be joined by actor Idris Elba to showcase the success over the past 50 years of The King’s Trust.
The documentary begins filming next month and is set to hit screens next autumn.
It comes after wayward son Prince Harry and Meghan Markle signed a 100-million deal with the streaming giants and slammed the royals in their six-part documentary.
While Netflix has also now come in as a partner with Meghan’s As Ever food brand.
And it also came under fire for bending the truth with controversial storylines on The Crown.
Luther star Idris, 52, was the beneficiary of a grant from the Trust when he was a struggling actor.
The series will celebrate 50 years of the Trust and tell the story of some of the one young people the charity has helped around the world.
One of Charles’s former most senior aides, Eva Omaghomi, is credited as an executive producer.
At its heart, this is a documentary about the power of believing in young people
Jonathan Townsend, UK Chief Executive of The King’s Trust
Idris Elba, Actor and Founder of the Elba Hope Foundation, said: “The King’s Trust gave me an opportunity that changed my life. At a time when I didn’t have the resources to pursue my ambitions, they offered real, practical support – including financial help — that helped me take those first steps to advance my career.
“Today, through the Elba Hope Foundation, I’m focused on creating those same opportunities for young people who are full of potential but lacking access. Around the world, millions are still waiting for that one door to open. This documentary is about shining a light on what’s possible when it does — and why the work of The King’s Trust remains so important.”
Jonathan Townsend, UK Chief Executive of The King’s Trust: “At its heart, this is a documentary about the power of believing in young people.
“It’s about an idea, driven by a young Prince who was determined to make a positive difference, that when young people are supported to succeed, we all succeed.
“Almost 50 years on, the momentum behind this idea has seen more than 1.3 million young people supported in over 20 countries around the world, including more than a million in the UK alone, through the work of The King’s Trust.
He added: “Nobody understands the impact of this work better than those who have experienced the support we offer first hand.
The King is pleased for The Trust to have this wonderful opportunity to showcase their work to a global audience
Palace aide
“As a long-term supporter and former beneficiary of The Trust himself, Idris will undoubtedly bring a unique perspective to this groundbreaking documentary as he peels back the layers of our story and shows how our life-changing work is as relevant today as it has ever been.”
Idris and the King previously appeared together in a documentary on knife crime.
The King will not interviewed in the Netflix show but filmed in conversation, it is understood.
A palace aide said: “The King is pleased for The Trust to have this wonderful opportunity to showcase their work to a global audience, sharing the compelling stories of some of the more than 1million young people it has helped in Britain and internationally over the past 50 years”.
LIONESS goalie Khiara Keating will face no further action after she was hauled to court accused of a drugs offence.
The Manchester City star, 20, was charged with possession of nitrous oxide canisters.
She and her mum appeared at Manchester magistrates court last summer when they pleaded not guilty.
They were facing a trial in November and were due at a hearing last week.
But the case has been dropped owing to insufficient evidence.
At an earlier hearing, Isaac Mirza, defending, said Keating was involved in a car crash in June last year.
Two police officers found nitrous oxide in her vehicle but Keating and her mum denied that it belonged to them.
Nitrous oxide was categorised as a Class C drug in 2023.
Possession, where a person intends to inhale it for a psychoactive effect, is an offence.
But the gas can be used for legitimate reasons such as pain relief in labour.
Keating, from Manchester, became the youngest player to win the Women’s Super League Golden Glove in 2023/24, and will feature in next month’s Euros.
