Weekly horoscope for June 22 – June 28: What the stars have in store for every zodiac sign revealed

OUR much-loved astrologer Meg sadly died in 2023 but her column will be kept alive by her friend and protégée Maggie Innes.

Read on to see what’s written in the stars for you today.

ARIES

MAR 21 – APR 20

Illustration of the Aries zodiac sign.

With Mercury sharpening your creative thinking, you possess the ability to review numerous ideas and instantly identify the best one for you.

While barriers may still emerge, they will now seem temporary and beatable.

In love, it’s tempting to keep planning a grand reveal, but your chart is ready for you to simply go for it.

A family new moon favors fresh ways of bonding with someone whose name begins with “D.”

TAURUS

APR 21 – MAY 21

Illustration of Taurus zodiac sign.

Sticking to your convictions on a family issue may not be easy, but you can achieve it by consistently returning to the “why” rather than fretting over the “how.”

While you generally dislike conflict, healthy debate can be very healing for you this week.

In terms of passion, the new moon helps loosen any shyness, allowing partners to relate on a new level of absolute honesty.

If you’re single, “The One” might get your name wrong at first.

GEMINI

MAY 22 – JUNE 21

Illustration of Gemini horoscope symbol with other zodiac signs in the background.

Your chart grants you the energy to restart a cash calculation; play your part by applying your firmest focus and keeping negative voices out of your head.

This is a week of communication ease, thanks to Mercury, as even words you assumed were lost in translation could begin to yield rewards.

So, do be patient a little longer.

Passion brings back a fantasy face.

CANCER

JUNE 22 – JULY 22

Illustration of Cancer zodiac sign with other zodiac signs in the background.

With Mars now established in your connections sector, you have the courage to contact anyone, even when unsure of the response.

So, use this while it’s hot.

If you’re in love, a personal new moon is your “try-anything” trump card—ask again, and a partner may have changed their mind.

If you’re single, no one is out of your league; remember that around someone whose name begins with “K.”

LEO

JULY 23 – AUG 23

Illustration of Leo zodiac sign.

The logic and mental sparkle of Mercury are all yours for the next few weeks, so how will you use it?

From writing effective reports to putting difficult feelings into words, you can persuade and promote in your own unique way.

Your words could even feature on a stage or screen.

A secret that is starting to bother you needs some attention; the new moon can help.

VIRGO

AUG 24 – SEPT 22

Virgo zodiac sign illustration.

Your focus is on the friendship world, and who may need more from you at this time.

This could be the least likely person to ask, yet your moon instinct is strong, so do listen to it.

If you’re in a relationship, Venus keeps a door open while you decide, but this may not be forever.

If you’re single, your dream date has so many travel stories to tell.

Luck circles someone whose name begins with “F.”

LIBRA

SEPT 23 – OCT 23

Illustration of Libra zodiac sign with other zodiac signs in the background.

Choosing the right goal at the right time is your big decision this week, and the light of the new moon is your best guide.

Even if an ambition isn’t the biggest or most impressive, if it feels right, it is right.

But you must promise yourself not to keep looking back—only forward.

Love that asks more questions than it answers can be a challenge, but an irresistible one.

SCORPIO

OCT 24 – NOV 22

Illustration of Scorpio zodiac sign with other zodiac signs in the background.

New destinations and a fresh sense of pushing boundaries make your chart dance this week—there’s nothing you can’t take on when you set your heart on it.

But beware of using this strength to slip over some love-lines, perhaps linked to someone not completely free.

A better option can be right there when you truly look.

Mercury boosts quick-reaction time for prizes.

SAGITTARIUS

NOV 23 – DEC 21

Sagittarius zodiac sign: bow and arrow illustration.

As your learning ability increases almost overnight, this can be your moment to get back to a study or practical experience course.

Previous blocks can be gone, and the road to your future feels wide open.

You’ve also taken lessons on board in love, and even against the odds, you should be safe from repeating a recent mistake.

So, do trust your heart again, totally.

CAPRICORN

DEC 22 – JAN 20

Capricorn zodiac sign illustration.

So many aspects of yourself may have puzzled you lately, but now Mercury brings some understanding, plus the ability to push forward again.

You can deal with doubts and cope with uncertainty, setting a new standard for everyone else in your life.

A moon of reconciliation gets two sides talking again, and a team can be back together.

Love is lighter, with a two-way sense of fun.

AQUARIUS

JAN 21 – FEB 18

Aquarius horoscope illustration.

Sticking to a health track, even when it no longer feels like a great fit, is not the Aquarius answer.

This week, you can read or hear about something that could be so much better, and you will recognize it straight away.

If you’re in love, Mercury adds forward-planning to Venus’s security, and some big plans can be made.

If you’re single, a dull date can hide such a hot prospect.

PISCES

FEB 19 – MAR 20

Illustration of the Pisces zodiac sign with other zodiac signs in the background.

With the heat of the sun and the insight of the new moon both lighting up your creative chart, ideas flow thick and fast, and at least one can be well underway by the weekend.

The key is starting strong, even when the plan isn’t quite perfect, as you have the initiative to alter it along the way.

Passion links to voices, and the way you simply can’t ignore one special one.

Adrenalin hits, spa bliss & stunning mountain views above make Switzerland a great escape

AS I’m gripping on to the handrail of a walkway suspended 45 metres above the Swiss town of Grindelwald, I ask our guide: “Is now a good time to tell you I’m scared of heights?”

We’re just south of Thun, one of this year’s UEFA Women’s Euros host cities and a dizzying 2,000 metres above sea level.

Panoramic view of Grindelwald village in the Swiss Alps.
Summit for the weekend in Grindelwald
People riding a First Glider in the Swiss Alps.
Spread your wings with First Glider
David Birri

On a misty day like today, we’re even higher than the clouds as I look down over the edge on the First Cliff Walk.

And this is actually the tamest activity I’ve signed up for. . .

FLYING START

I stop for a hearty potato rosti topped with bacon, cheese and a fried egg, £21, at Berggasthaus First, before plucking up the courage for the First Flyer, an 800-metre-long zipwire that reaches speeds of 50mph (Berggasthausfirst.ch).

Once down, I realise it would have been a better idea to eat lunch after, not before.

But I’m soon back up the mountain to try First Glider, where I’m harnessed face down, then pulled back and launched through the air like an eagle (though I don’t feel quite so graceful).

Mountain carting – a cross between a go-kart and a sledge – proves my fave, as I speed down a twisty, 3km-long track back towards town.

Tickets for two activities cost £91 per adult (Jungfrau.ch).

The Fire & Ice Spa at my chic hotel, Bergwelt Grindelwald, just minutes from the gondola, is a welcome change of pace.

I warm up in the outdoor sauna with views of the imposing, ragged face of Eiger mountain, before soaking in the heated outdoor pool – the sound of cowbells nearby is the only playlist.

TOP OF THE ROCKS

A 30-minute train ride away is the town of Interlaken, home to the Harder Kulm mountain, where it’s a short trip by the 100-year-old funicular to the summit (Interlaken.ch).

At the top, I find Panorama Restaurant, serving “the coldest beer in Interlaken”, £6, in an ice-bottomed glass, as well as daily Alphorn concerts to soundtrack dinner.

I arrive early and take the hour-long circular hike around the mountain top to work up an appetite, then order the Monch Spezial, £21 – a charcuterie board of Swiss air-dried beef, home-made sausage, smoked ham and alpine cheese – followed by Alpine-style macaroni, £23, with potatoes, onions, cheese and apple sauce (Restaurantharderkulm.ch).

Higher still is Jungfraujoch – Europe’s highest railway station and the only place in the region where you’re guaranteed year-round snow.

From the Grindelwald terminal, I take a gondola up to the Eiger railway station, before hopping on a train through the mountain to the top of the glacier.

All in all, it takes about 45 minutes, and is well worth it. I send a letter from the highest post office in Europe and take in the panoramic mountain views from the Sphinx Observatory.

Sadly, I can’t sledge at the Snow Fun Park, due to blizzard-like conditions, so seek shelter in the Ice Palace, a maze carved into the glacier, with incredible frozen sculptures lining the walls.

At Crystal Restaurant, views rival the observatory and I tuck into a starter of creamy home-made lobster soup, £12.75, and moreish cheese fondue, £26.

As I make my descent, rather than checking tickets, the train conductor hands out chocolates. It definitely beats my usual commute.

FYI

Double rooms at Bergwelt cost from £155 (Bergwelt-grindelwald.com).

A Jungfrau Travel Pass, from £38, covers unlimited train, cable car, bus and cruises (Jungfrau.ch).

My new manager is destroying my confidence with micro-management & bad communication

APPRENTICE star and West Ham United vice-chair Karren Brady answers your careers questions.

Here, Karren gives advice to a reader who wants to negotiate a fair redundancy after 20 years at her job.

Woman in a green top and leather skirt.
Karren Brady gives you career advice

Q: For the past three years, I’ve worked in change communications.

It was my perfect job and enabled me to thrive.

Unfortunately, my employer got rid of my position and sent me back to a previous role in a different department, which I now find difficult.

I’m currently on the waiting list for a neurodiversity assessment.

I’ve told my new manager this, but they don’t understand and work in a way that makes things a struggle and affects my focus.

They also aren’t very clear in their communication and they micro-manage me – even asking me about personal appointments in my calendar.

I want to move forward – whether in this company or a different one – but my confidence is being knocked every day.

Do you have any advice?

Amber, via email

A: It doesn’t sound like your employer is supporting you or playing to your strengths.

Request a meeting with your manager to calmly explain how the current set-up is affecting your ability to do your best work.

Be specific about what’s difficult, such as micro-management, unclear instructions and being questioned on personal matters, and how this is affecting your focus and confidence.

Then explain what you need instead – more clarity, trust and autonomy.

It’s also worth sharing how much you thrived in your previous role and why.

At the same time, speak to occupational health or HR about your neurodiversity assessment, as you may be eligible for reasonable adjustments. while at work.

Keep a written record of concerning interactions, and don’t stop advocating for yourself.

Whether it’s within this company or somewhere new, you deserve to be in a role and environment that supports your needs and allows you to grow.

Horse racing tips: ‘She won with plenty left in the tank last time’ – Templegate’s Sunday NAP

TEMPLEGATE tackles Sunday’s racing confident of winners.

Back a horse by clicking their odds below.

NIVELLE’S MAGIC (3.00 Ffos Las, nap)

There was a lot to like about the way she won with plenty left in the tank at Southwell last time. She was doing her best work at the end of that race’s 1m4f trip and this stiffer test of stamina should be ideal. She has had a break and returns to turf at a track where she’s tasted success before. New trainer Dan Horsford hasn’t had this mare for long and he could even spark a bit more from her.

TWILIGHT GUEST (2.40 Pontefract, nb)

Trainer George Margarson has been getting a good tune out of this five-year-old who has won his past two at Brighton without any trouble. This 1m2f trip is ideal and, despite a hike in the weights, he can land the hat-trick with Harry Burns taking off a handy 3lb.

SANTORINI STAR (3.40 Pontefract, treble)

She has done very little wrong so far for William Haggas and made it four wins from five races at Goodwood last time. She now steps out of handicap company but looks well up to this Listed standard with more to come over 1m4f.

MAN OF ACTION (3.18 Hexham, Lucky 15)

Has every chance of landing a hat-trick of wins. He scored here last month and more than matched that effort at Perth 14 days ago. This trip on decent ground is ideal and he can strike again in a very winnable contest.

Templegate’s tips

PONTEFRACT

2.10 Bleep Test
Two seconds and a win so far with more to come.

2.40 Twilight Guest (nb)
Likes this trip and comes here with a big hat-trick chance.

3.10 Lieber Power
Been knocking on the door and this distance suits fine.

3.40 Santorini Star (treble)
Has won past two with lots left and can keep scoring.

4.15 Surrey Fire
Been going well on the sand and will appreciate turf return.

4.50 Partisan Hero
Has gone well here before and is on an excellent run.

5.25 Adorla Of Achill
Bit left in the tank last time and this trip suits.

HEXHAM

2.18 Dickens
Goes well here and solid effort last time out.

2.48 Beny Nahar Road
Has won two of past three and every chance again.

3.18 Man Of Action
Can bring up the hat-trick over an ideal trip and track.

3.50 Ryebridge
Showed his best form with a solid third last time out.

4.25 Fortunate Fella
Back to best when winning last time and can strike for new yard.

5.00 Feach Amach
Has won three of past four and sets a high standard.

FFOS LAS

2.30 Shaby Shabu
Knocking on the door and well backed last time out.

3.00 Nivelles Magic (nap)
Has been in fine form and has gone well here before.

3.30 Outlandish
Improved from debut with a good third last time out.

4.05 Maybe Not
Good form in maidens and more to come handicapping.

4.40 Scenario
Went close last time and first-time cheekpieces can help.

5.15 Cornish Storm
Consistent and this looks another good chance.

Ten girls taken to hospital after being pricked by ‘man with syringe’ at French music festival as one arrested

AROUND ten girls were reportedly pricked by a man with a syringe during a French musical festival.

The incident is said to have unfolded in Metz on Friday, when over 50,000 flocked to celebrate World Music Day, Le Républicain Lorrain reports.

The alleged attacks took place in the square Place de la République in central Metz[/caption]

The girls – most reportedly minors – were targeted by one or more people at around 10pm, according to the local outlet.

The alleged attacks happened between two popular spots in the city centre, Place de la République and Place Saint-Jacques.

Firefighters at the event quickly tended to the girls, who were then rushed to hospital “for analysis”, according to Metz mayor François Grosdidier.

A man was arrested by local cops in connection with the incidents.

He was taken to the police station to be interviewed.

Grosdidier estimated that a crowd of 50,000 packed the city centre, adding: “It’s Saturday night and it’s still hot… There are a lot of people, people everywhere, in all the city centre streets.”

Police remained on duty throughout the night following the incident.

It comes as a school girl was stabbed to death by a 15-year-old student who went on a knife rampage at a school in the French city of Nantes.

The attacker, wearing black clothing and a balaclava, also stabbed three other students who were rushed to hospital.

When armed cops arrived at the scene, the attacker reportedly shouted “shoot me in the head” before being handcuffed and taken away.

The suspect was named as Justin P. by French newspaper Le Parisien.

Just hours earlier, an anonymous email is said to have gone around the school speaking of a “revolt”.

The manifesto, reportedly seen by Le Parisien, spoke about eco issues.

Meanwhile, a teaching assistant was stabbed to death by a teenage student over a week ago.

The 31-year-old was stabbed several times outside the Françoise Dolto school, in north-east France.

She tragically died in hospital as a result of her injuries.

A 14-year-old pupil was arrested on suspicion of fatally stabbing the teacher who was leading a bag search outside the school at the time.

The victim – identified only as Melanie G – was mum to a four-year-old boy and has been described by locals as “adorable” with a “caring nature”.

Oviedo were last in Spain’s top flight 24 years ago

The former Spain ace started his career with Oviedo’s academy in 1996 before going on to star for Villarreal, Malaga and Arsenal.

Cazorla, who almost lost his leg due to an infection after numerous Achilles injuries, rejoined them in 2023 after a spell in Qatar.

Oviedo were in the second tier of Spain at the time, having last played in LaLiga in 2001 while even suffering relegation to the fourth division.

Cazorla’s first campaign back saw his side suffer heartbreak in the playoff final.

But the minnows are now back in the big time after Cazorla inspired a stunning win against rivals Mirandes, who won the first leg 1-0.

They doubled their advantage after just 16 minutes to leave Oviedo’s hopes of promotion hanging by a thread.

But Cazorla stepped up to score a penalty just before half-time, pulling his side back into the game.

Oviedo then levelled the tie on the hour mark before Mirandes had a men sent off.

And the hosts completed their stunning comeback in extra time as Oviedo fans flooded the pitch in tears of joy.

Cazorla was all smiles at full time as he kissed wife Ursula, having returned to Oviedo out of pure love for the club.

The playmaker even wanted to go unpaid, but league rules dictated he had to accept a minimum wage of £80,000 per year.

It now remains to be seen if Cazorla stays for one more season in LaLiga, having undergone a total of 10 operations to leave him in daily discomfort.

Two years of injury hell starting in 2016 saw a bacterial infection eat a 10cm chunk out of his right Achilles and ankle bone.

A bit of Cazorla’s hamstring and arm muscle was used to rebuild the tendon.

And he previously declared a return to Arsenal as a coach could be on the cards, saying: “Arsenal have never closed the door to me.”

Cazorla scored 29 goals in 180 games during his six years at the Emirates while winning two FA Cups.

He also played 81 times for Spain while winning successive Euros, but missed the World Cup victory in 2010 due to a hernia.
