Runner up to Alex, Alistair Griffin released the song Bring It On following Fame Academy.

He has continued with his songwriting, penning the song I Wish for You the World, for the Games Maker Choir, during the 2012 Summer Olympics.

Still at it, he released his third album From Nowhere in 2014.

Alistair is currently hosting a run of concerts by candlelight, titled The Greatest Shows in York Minster,

The songrwriter recently shared a video explaining his path into music and is success after the show.

He said: “I come from a little village in Yorkshire called Castleton.

“Where there’s more sheep than people and there’s definitely not many pop stars.

“I’ve always loved music and writing songs.

“So I left Yorkshire and I went to London to pursue my dream.

“And it wasn’t long before I ended up on one of the first TV talent shows.”

He continued: “Fame Academy was a cross between X Factor and Big Brother.

“We all lived in a big house together, we all sang for survival. We all voted each other out at the end, it was brutal.

“Since then I have continued making music. Duetted with one of Girls Aloud, Kimberley Walsh, my song Just Drive was used as the theme tune to Formula 1.

“Played for some big crowds along the way.

“Met some great people along the way and I’m always up for an adventure.

“Hope you like my TikTok, stay tuned and follow me for for my latest adventure.”

Hottest fashion trends of 2025

Fabulous’ Fashion Editor Clemmie Fieldsend shares the biggest trends from the high street.

The East/West Bag

Baguette bags have had a good run, after returning from the 1990s’ shoulders of Sarah Jessica Parker to modern-day fashion icons, like Hailey Bieber.

In 2025, the East/West bag is a similar but elongated shape and has long, thin straps that are easy to throw over your shoulder.

They’ve been on runway models’ arms at nearly ever designer show – think Burberry, Givenchy and Bottega Veneta – and are hitting the high street now, too.

Powder pink

Bright fuchsia pink had its day after the release of Barbie in 2023 and now the more polished and expensive-looking pale shade is taking over for 2025.

Pantone may say that it’s the year of Mocha Mousse, but the catwalks say otherwise! From Prada to Erdem, the subtle look was all over the spring/summer catwalks, worn head-to-toe or on its own.

If the sugary shade is too girly for you, then look to sharp suiting for a androgynous take on the colour.

The shell jacket

The ’80s classic is back, but with a sleek and minimal new twist for 2025.

We all know we’re likely to see rain for most of spring, so your practical coat of choice should be a cagoule jacket.

Depop revealed one of its big trend predictions for this year is retro sportswear, with surges already seen in ‘80s windbreakers’.

Seen everywhere from the stylish streets of Copenhagen to the Miu Miu catwalk, now mums who have an emergency raincoat crumpled underneath their pushchair are very much in fashion!

The turn-up jeans

While the shape of jeans remains the same for this year and barrel-legs will still be everywhere, the way we’re styling them is different.

This season, transform your wide-leg, baggy denims into turn-ups.

For this look, size doesn’t matter, so while deep turn-ups are a hit from jean trend-leaders Citizens of Humanity, a slight fold is still just as good – but only as it’s just one single fold.

Peep-toe shoe

Get your pedicures booked in sharpish, as this season your toes are the main event.

After a long hiatus, the peep-toe has been welcomed back into the fashion fold, with brands like Hermes, Miu Miu and Tory Burch showing plain and embellished footwear in this style.

From mules to pumps and clogs (yes, clogs will be around too!), there are lots of different styles that are set to sweep the high street.

Sheer blouses

See-through looks have always lived on the catwalk, but have rarely filtered into everyday life – until now.

Designers Ralph Lauren and Tom Ford loved sheer looks on their S/S ’25 catwalks and M&S even had sellout success with its black sheer pencil skirt last season.

Expect to see more sheer looks lining supermarket aisles and high street shops in the form of skirts, tops and frocks.

It’s also in the colour of the season, which instantly ticks the box for on-trend fashion.

The stunning summer wardrobe staple is currently priced at £32 and comes in sizes six to 24.

Describing it online, the Sainsbury’s team say: “An elegant choice for summer outings and sun-soaked holidays, this yellow midaxi dress comes in a strappy style.

“Designed with cutwork embroidery, a v-neckline, adjustable straps, finished with shirred detailing at the back. Finish your look with mesh ballerina pumps.”

Unsurprisingly, it has already scored countless five-star reviews, with one fan writing: “Love colour, style and fit of this dress. Comfortable and lovely material.”

A second wrote: “This is stunning dress which because of the double layer renders it non see through, excellent fit true to size and great length. As you can tell I love this dress.”

I turned my hair from thin to thick in seconds with a £3.40 hack hairdressers swear by, it adds volume & shine too

MANY people wish their hair was thicker and more luscious.

Thankfully you may only need a £3.40 product, according to a hairdresser.

One beauty lover joked that she was fed up with having “five hairs” but managed to transform her locks using the hair hack.

Julia, who posts under @justliia4, wrote: “How I turned my 5 hairs into 100,000.

“I got the trick from my hairdresser.”

The only thing you need to get, according to Julia is L’Oreal’s Elvive Styliste Mousse, which is said to “boosts your hair volume by lifting from the root.”

You can currently pick up a bottle from Tesco for a 150ml size.

Julia shared how she starts with damp, clean hair and then shakes the bottle well.

She then squeezes some of the mousse into her hands and then applies it to her locks.

The social media user advised: “Distribute it upwards into your hair (more at the roots).

You then need to blow dry your hair as normal – and she advised doing it upside down for extra volume.

In the clip, which has racked up over 300 likes, she showed how she uses a rounded brush to create extra volume and shape at the front.

When she was finished, her hair looked bouncy, shiny and much thicker than the start.

Many people were impressed with the results, with one saying: “It looks great.”

According to the product description, thin hair needs to be “texturized from root to tip and requires long lasting hold.”

The results are said to last up to 48 hours with its “strong fixing power.”

HAIR LOSS REASONS

Jack Merrick-Thirlway, creative director at Neville Hair & Beauty, said hereditary hair loss is the most common type of hair loss and is transmitted through your genes.

This type of hair loss can start from teen years and although will be difficult to treat, it can be slowed down if treated immediately.

Hormonal imbalances may also cause you to lose hair.

Pregnancy and the menopause are two key times when hormonal imbalances can occur, leading to changes in hair thickness.

However, chronic stress and certain medications can also contribute to these imbalances.

Another hair saboteur is excessive friction. Jacks says those who are wearing a tight ponytail repeatedly may find themselves experiencing hair loss.

Finally, using the wrong products or having too many chemical treatments can lead to hair loss.

HAIR GROWTH TIPS

So, how can we encourage our hair to grow?

Jack says that when shopping for new products to help with hair thickness, there are few ingredients to look out for.

“I’d advise looking out for ingredients such as biotin, collagen, amino acids and products containing vitamin B3. These all help strengthen the hair follicles and promote growth.

“That said, if you feel out of your depth, you can also seek advice with your hair stylist.”

Be wary of too many chemicals in your styling products as they can exacerbate hair loss – and you should also not wash it too often.

“To ensure your hair stays healthy it is important not to over wash it,” advises Jack.

“Instead try and limit washing your hair to two or three times a week.

“Use a gentle shampoo and conditioner to make sure you do not remove any moisture.”

Rush hair expert reveals how to repair damaged hair

TINA Farey, Editorial director at Rush Hair, shares her advice…

HOW TO RESTORE DAMAGED HAIR

Whilst you can’t fully reserve the effects of damaged hair, you can stop the problem from growing.

Depending on the condition of your hair, I’d recommend getting a trim every six to eight weeks – this will prevent any split ends from travelling further up the hair shaft, which weakens the hair’s overall structure and leads to more breakage.

Even just an inch of the ends will completely transform the appearance of your hair – trust me.

When it comes to products to help restore damaged hair, Goldwell’s Rich Repair Treatment Mask is a firm favourite – strengthening damaged locks to be healthy and shiny once again.

HOW TO PREVENT DAMAGE

My number one tip is to always use a heat protectant – even if you’re only blow-drying your hair.

Consistent heat styling without one will leave your hair open to heat damage.

I’d also recommend refraining from over-washing your hair as this can strip the hair of its natural oils – nobody wants a dry and irritated scalp!

And finally, swap your sleek, slick back for a hair down day!

They may be in fashion at the moment, but over time all that tension on your strands from being pulled will wreak havoc on your hair follicles – this could lead to thinning and bald spots in areas where the hair is constantly pulled.

One of the world’s most beautiful train stations that looks like ‘Gotham City’ is home to weirdly-beautiful Burger King

ONE of the world’s most beautiful stations has been described as looking like something from a comic book.

Helsinki Central Train Station in Finland has been named one of the most stunning train stations by both Lonely Planet and BBC.

Some have said it looks like Batman’s Gotham City[/caption]

It dates back as far as the 1860s which is when the railway tracks were first laid, although the main building opened in 1919.

The Art Nouveau station also has a huge glass roof inside that was added in 2001.

The main features outside are the two statues, called the Lyhdynkantajat (Lantern Bearers) on either side of the entrance, as well as the huge clock tower.

One tourist wrote online: “The central station wouldn’t look out of place in Gotham City with the characters built into either side of the main entrance.”

Another agreed: “One of the most Impressive buildings in Helsinki. To me looks Like from Gotham city in the Batman movies.”

Around 240,000 people use the station per day, as it is used as a transport hub for both commuters and long-haul travellers.

Yet only half of those people are actually using the station for transport purposes, with the other half visiting it as a tourist attraction.

It is so popular, it is is actually the most visited building in all of Finland.

Along with 19 platforms, there are 15 cafes and restaurants including everything from juice bars and sandwich delis to fancier wine bars and beer stops.

And the station is currently undergoing a huge renovation with improvements to the platform waiting area.

As well as the addition of more seating, digital displays and automatic doors, a new brewery, restaurant and food court are also being added.

Passengers are warned of temporary restrictions because of this until spring 2026.

The Burger King in Helsinki’s Central Station is even praised for being on of the most beautiful in the world.

Tourists enter through a glass archway and are met by a huge chandelier hanging outside.

One Youtuber said: “Absolutely the fanciest Burger King in the world, it’s got to be.”

Visit in the winter months as you will also post a huge outdoor ice skating rink outside the station as well.

Here’s what it is like to go on a European train holiday, including a stop at the train station.

For other beautiful train stations, Schafbergbahn Station in St. Wolfgang, Austria was named the most beautiful by architecture and design award Prix Versailles.

Milan’s main train station as well as Liege-Guillemins railway station in Belgium have also been praised.

And we’ve rounded up the prettiest ones in the UK.

‘I saw the boys start going in’ – The shocking ‘leg-breaker’ challenge that sparked huge England vs Spain U21 brawl

A SHOCKING challenge on Tino Livramento sparked a huge bust-up during the Euro Under-21s clash between England and Spain.

Lee Carsley‘s Young Lions shook off an underwhelming group phase to beat Spain 3-1 in Trnava.

England took an early two-goal lead via goals by James McAtee and Harvey Elliott, although Javi Guerra’s 39th minute penalty got La Roja back into it.

Carsley’s men sealed a place in the semis when Elliot Anderson converted a stoppage time spot kick to make it 3-1.

In the final moments of the game, Spanish full-back Marc Pubill wildly lunged towards England star Livramento.

Pubill flew in with his studs up, but luckily did not make contact with Livramento.

The Newcastle ace was understandably unhappy with the challenge, subsequently bumping chests with his opponent.

Upon the final whistle moments later, tempers flared among players from both teams.

Plenty of pushing and shoving ensued, with England centre-half Charlie Cresswell even having hands placed around his neck at one point.

England coaching staff were desperate for none of their players to pick up a silly red card, which would have ruled them out of the semi-finals.

BEST ONLINE CASINOS – TOP SITES IN THE UK

Assistant boss Ashley Cole even stepped in to help break up the melee.

Unused Spanish sub Rafa Marin was sent off amid the carnage, while McAtee was booked for England.

Reflecting on the flashpoint after the game, Carsley said: “I think there are better ways to build camaraderie! But I think we had something similar in the final [two years ago].

“Emotions run very high and in those kinds of scenarios you don’t want anyone to get sent off, anyone to throw a punch or get themselves in trouble.

“You try and be as respectful to both sides but you can see how much it means to the players. To represent your country in a quarter-final, it means a lot.

“We probably have to give them a bit of leeway. Thankfully it didn’t go over the top but it’s still not nice to see.

“We are always trying to fly the flag and encourage younger players especially to take up football and enjoy the game… but the passion was just a bit much.”

‘WE HAVE TO GIVE THEM A BIT BACK’

Young Lions skipper McAtee added: “I never saw the challenge. I saw the boys start going into it, so always going in to help. It’s part of football, and you just have to stick together as a team.

“It’s a big game, we know that. It’s two big teams in the tournament, so them kicking off, we can’t sit back and just let them do it, we have to give them a bit back, so I am happy with the boys.”

Fans watching at home were furious with Pubill’s challenge, with one writing on X: “No wonder things kicked off at the end – that’s a leg-breaker on Livramento. Shocking.”

While a second fumed: “Disgusting from that player.”

Another called it “cowardly behaviour”.

England will be back on action on Wednesday as they take on the Netherlands in the semi-finals.

Should they manage to get past the Dutch, either Denmark, France, Germany or Italy will await in the final.

Keir Starmer to hold emergency Cobra meeting TODAY after US obliterates Iran’s nuclear bases

SIR Keir Starmer has called for an urgent Cobra meeting this afternoon after the US strikes on Iran.

It comes after the Iranian foreign minister today announced he is to meet with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin within hours.

He warned the West of “unprecedented danger” after the US blitzed three of its nuclear sites.

Donald Trump has threatened since even more strikes on the country, and dubbed the operation a “spectacular military success”.

A Cobra meeting involves a cross-departmental committee that comes together to respond to national emergencies.

Its aim is to make fast, effective decisions in a crisis and coordinate the response of the central government.

The committee brings together senior government ministers and civil servants, security and intelligence officials, military chiefs and leaders of the emergency services and councils, depending on the nature of the crisis.

The Prime Minister usually chairs the meetings, which are held in the Cabinet Office Briefing Rooms and are most commonly take place in Briefing Room A – leading to them being referred to as Cobra.

Cobra meetings are called at times of national crisis, owing to events either at home or abroad.

Police divers had been incorporated into the search for her on Thursday after Civil Guard and Spanish coastguards helicopters and boats were mobilised.
